I checked out Bar Hygge in Fairmount, PA, and it completely lived up to the hype. From the moment you walk in, the place just feels right. The space is beautifully put together with a mix of furniture from all over that somehow fits perfectly, creating a warm, cozy, and stylish atmosphere. The decor is incredible, and the whole place has an effortless vibe that makes you want to settle in and hang out for a while with friends.

The staff was excellent and the service was fast and on point without ever feeling rushed. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and clearly knew what they were doing, which added to how relaxed the experience felt.

As for the food, I had their burger, and it was outstanding. Easily one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. It was packed with flavor, had a great smoky element, and was cooked perfectly. This is absolutely a burger worth going out of your way to try, especially paired with the atmosphere that comes with it.

Overall, Bar Hygge is more than just a restaurant. It is a full on vibe. A perfect spot to grab great food, enjoy excellent service, and spend a few hours catching up with friends in a space that feels both unique and welcoming.

Bar Hygge, Philadelphia, PA. Spoiler alert; This is a no for me. Bar Hygge is in Eastern State Penitentiary’s neighborhood. It was very busy. I grabbed a seat at the bar from a couple that was leaving. They have approximately 8 taps. I got the Lemon Meringue. Mostly because I wanted to say Lemon Meringue. Getting a beer based on name because they don’t have a beer on tap that you usually get. Then you like the beer you got. Is that bad because they don’t have something you know you’ll like or is it good because I tried something new and liked it?? The bartender recommended the crab fries. The crab topping was pretty tasty. The fries were a thicker cut, under cooked and soaked in oil. Sidebar – 2 days later I took my leftover crab fries. I scraped off the topping. Put fries in microwave for a minute. Then in Air Fryer for 5 minutes. Put the topping back on – Don’t judge, I’m am stubborn and frugal – They were 1268% better. I had a win the shirt off my back winner.

I was passing by here from NYC and it began pouring rain. My friend and I didn’t have an umbrella so we stood under an awning when the owner of this place let us wait inside until the rain subsided. So very nice!! He even gave us waters and let us use the restroom. The place looked great and I would have loved to stay and purchase food, but we were on our way. Forever grateful for the kindness that was offered to us this day! Such a lovely place owned by kind folks. Thank you!

I Stopped By After Work On A Tuesday For Happy Hour. Overall Pretty Good Experience. They Have A Nice Open Space & When I Came In Around 4:50pm There Weren’t Many People So Service Was Really Fast.

From The Happy Hour Menu I Got The Lavender Lemonade With Vodka (apparently it’s the same thing as the punch but the lemonade is the alcohol free version). I Also Ordered 6 Of The $2 Oysters. Aside From That I Got The Salmon Ceviche, 1 Barbecued Oyster, 1 Roasted Oyster, & A Mango Mint Sangria. Everything I Ordered Was Pretty Good. Would Like To Add That Music Selection Was Surprisingly Good Very Nice Variety Throwback R&B, Pop Hits, & Spanish Hits.

The Only Thing I Don’t Like Is That My Server/Bartender Walked Away From Me Mid Sentence When I Was About To Order The Sangria To Greet People Who Were Just Arriving. I Understand You Have To Greet But I Felt A Bit Disrespected The Way It Happened.

We love it here, especially when the weather’s nice and you can get a seat outside. Fun food, and the service is always fantastic. And we love their Happy Hour… $4 drafts, a $12 appetizer board and 25% off draft wines. Crab fries aren’t on the HH menu, but they’re loaded with crab and definitely worth ordering either way (best bet is to pay $5 to upgrade your sandwich fries). That’s a HALF sandwich/fries side pictured btw – they split our order in the kitchen

Great, trendy restaurant in Fairmount. Being within a 10 minute walk from both The Met and Eastern State Penitentiary, it makes a great lunch or dinner location for a day out on the town.

The beer was great! The Lemon Meringue IPA and Trippy IPA were very tasty and smooth. My partner is a big craft beer guy and he was impressed as well.

Food was also great! The fried chicken sandwich was perfect. My partner ordered a burger medium rare, it definitely came out on the rare side!

Service was a little hectic, both the staff seating us and taking our orders seemed overwhelmed but everyone was still lovely to interact with and the food was very quick coming out. Easy to get a quick meal in before a show!

This was an excellent “pre-game” choice for a concert at the Met. 10-15 minute walk from the venue.

Our waitress was AMAZING. VERY interactive and knowledgeable. Sweet and also gorgeous smile which made us all feel welcomed.

The beer they make was delicious. The happy hour specials were great value and delicious. Also great beer specials.

I knocked a star off for the food. It was good. But for $27 I got a hamburger with an egg and bacon on it with a side salad. The burger was ordered medium. It was very thin and fell apart when I put my fork in it. The egg was well done, which I guess I should have asked for over easy? The idea is to have yolk run down into the juicy burger patty. I got neither.

But the side salad and dressing was delicious. And the bacon was done perfectly.

The price of the food did NOT match the quality of the food. But maybe we are paying for atmosphere.

Go for happy hour so it’s discounted.

And the music fit the crowd. Kudos to the manager who knew the concert and played music for the crowd.

Apart from the manager’s exceptional care and attentiveness, as a person of color I was disappointed in how the hostess and server treated us and the rest of the experience fell short. The hostess denied us booth seating, even though other groups our size were seated there, and there were multiple booths, where we requested seating, that stayed empty for our entire visit. Our server also ignored us for long stretches, took a long time to take our order and bring our food, and yet was very quick when it came time to pick up the check.

Quite impressed by Bar Hygge. Really good food. Attentive and fast service. Large selection of drinks..which are delicious and well crafted. A large space which feels inviting and comfortable. They are a big operation, but overall it felt quite accessible. Prices were decent.
