Did we step back into 1960s Italy at the charming yet sophisticated Bar Franco? Oh yes we did.
Our bartender Alfredo was super attentive and gave us great suggestions based on what flavor profile we wanted to go to. In one case, while I’m not a huge fan of the traditional aperol spritz, they had a take on it that involve passionfruit and Prosecco and lemon juice, that really made me think it was more like a cool French 75. I also had a martini that had a salted butter, gin with sage and something called buzz flower, they came in a teaspoon off the side that served a slightly anesthetize my mouth while I had that drink. Blew me away! If you are in the area or looking to go to dinner nearby, this is a great spot to stop by and grab a craft cocktail.
Finally for decor it definitely has that mid-century feel and the icing on the cake or the Italian technicolor movies playing off on a side wall that feature Sophia Lauren-Not as Kitschy as it sounds.

My family and I had an elegant lunch outside on an Sunday afternoon in the late summer. The overcast and resonance of soft american and italian jazz soothed me as the waiting staff thoroughly ensured that we were happy with our food. I ordered the Uovo in Camicia – an eggplant and polenta pourage with 2 poached eggs. I wanted to inhale it! It was delicious! My wife had branzino and she was more than satisfied. What a relief! Lastly, my son got a reginella pizza (basil, fresh mozzarella and tomato sauce on a thin crust) and we all feasted like royalty.

We sat at the bar and the ambience was great! It was a nice place to go nearby before our dinner reservation elsewhere. Caprese e burrata and ricotta tartufo was delicious! Overall, great place to go if you want a quick drink/apps before dinner or date night!

It was lovely weather to sit outdoors. We had gone for after dinner drinks. Amazing service. Drinks were great. We did get the, warm chocolate dessert, which was fantastic. A very lively atmosphere. Will return again.

Last but not least…. The finest speciality in the land… Cafe Leccese by Alex. The journey of taste is unprecedented. It starts with a cafe cold foam dashed with lemon zest to chill and excite the upper lip. As you descend deeper into this emotional rollercoaster….. a flood of warm lovely coffee notes, and enchantment of nutty flavors, caramelized with love hits you taste buds. Pure magic… pure bliss…. The waft of lemon scents stings the nostrils as nostalgic thoughts of simpler times set in…. Nothing can compare… I not only dare you to take this journey, I declare this as a must have in Montclair, NJ.

Went for a nightcap after dinner with my wife, got minimal service at the bar which is to be expected on a busy Saturday night. Drinks were fine, too much ice in both, but not bad overall. The real kicker was that when paying we were presented with a copy of the receipt to sign where 20% tip was added without showing it on the previous copy.
It went from “total $37.34” on the original receipt to “subtotal $44.81” on the copy that I was supposed to add tip to… pretty sneaky way to try to take advantage of customers and hope they double tip. Photos attached.
When I questioned the bartender he scoffed at me like it was a dumb question. I would’ve tipped 20% anyway, but how can they expect patrons to return and trust their service when they do shady things like this?

this bar is absolute perfection… The decor is unique, the environment relaxing, the music complements everything!.
the mixologists are incredible and make the most amazing, thoughtful cocktails. we visited on a Wednesday so it wasn’t crazy busy.

Love coming here it’s really nice classy and fancy lounge and bar they have great appetizers and amazing drinks, their cocktails are so good and the bar is great.
Even when it’s crowded the bartenders manage the patrons well. Security keeps the atmosphere safe. Parking may be your only issue depending on when you go

This tiny little Italian bar is an excellent place to visit for a quick cocktail.
I arrived early on a Friday evening and I was seated immediately. The bar is quite small – we were seated at the table against the wall. The ambience was very nice – it felt like i was transported to an upscale bar in Europe.
After being seated, we were approached and given snacks immediately. Our bartender then approached us and took our drink orders. The service was quick, attentive, and friendly.
I settled on the Pera Caramellata (St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, White Port Caramelized Pear, Lemon Juice). The drink deserves a 10/10 – truly on of the freshest and most flavorful cocktails I have ever had in my life. It was very smooth and refreshing. The price was moderate with drinks at $15-$18 each. They also have mocktails if you’re with people who do not drink.
Overall an excellent experience worth visiting! I will definitely be back.
