I adore a comfortable bar seat, and Bar Crenn has created a cozy space to engage with the staff and fellow diners. One of the best tasting menus I’ve enjoyed.
Lucky enough to be seated with an amazing group who were just as awed by the experience. Dishes and wine pairings were phenomenal, and the sommelier was a perfect guide to the evening.

Absolute Gem of a Bar;
The host graciously accommodated us arriving early without hesitation, making us feel instantly welcome.

Inside felt like entering a cozy Japanese sanctuary dedicated to music lovers. The atmosphere is intimately inspired by classic vinyl listening rooms, warm lighting, shelves lined with records.

The staffs drink recommendations for my partner were spot on, Daniel took the time to understand her tastes and suggested a creative cocktail that she loved. My drink (mezcal Negroni) and her’s were well balanced and flavorful.

Great service, sophisticated yet relaxed, incredible ambiance and thoughtful drinks = 5 stars.

Duh! Who wouldn’t want to eat and drink under the auspices of the legend, Chef Dominique Crenn? This place is awesome. The food is excellent and the menu changes quite often. The staff is so welcoming and just downright nice and sincere. The vibe is completely cool. Best to grab a reservation rather than be disappointed at the door as a walk in. Twist my arm time to go there any day of the week. Le Comptoir? Yeah, it’s a bucket list item for sure. Snag a seat if you can
for a special meal at the bar.

100% the best bar in San Francisco and beyond world class cocktails and bites. Gorgeous presentation, fabulous taste, excellent service and unique gastronomical delights for the cocktails and the food. Do not miss! Indulge in the elevated take on an espresso martini the “gospel” … or the “petal” cocktail when on the menu… truly some of the best cocktails you will find in all the world.

Drinks here are elevated and crafted so well! Came here on a Friday night before 9pm and Bar Crenn was starting to fill up. They do have two small tables for standing room if you do not have a reservation and if they’re booked with reservations. Theres a minimum spend requirement when reserving.

Not pictured but Bergamo has to be one of my favorite cocktails. The fresh orange juice is so refreshing. If you like desserts, I would recommend the Chocolate flower, the texture and flavors are really nice.

After a brief but delicious early dinner at Anchovy Bar, I decided to try and get a seat at Bar Crenn up Fillmore over in the Marina. The opaque black windows and unmarked facade looks similarly anonymous to its famous next door 3 Star Michelin restaurant, Atelier Crenn.

Once I got to the door, I saw the fantastic remodeled interior and curved wooden backbar. The hostess seated me toward the end of the bar, a couple seats over from the center. There are nice arm chairs and corners for couples and groups near the front window.

Marcos, the bartender was friendly and we chatted about cocktail bars and the bar program at Bar Crenn, which was innovated by Director of Mixology Florian Thireau, who has written two cocktail books and worked at Buddha Bar and The Cheval Blanc in Paris, Palmer & Co in Sydney, The Zetter TownHouse and The Peninsula in London.

When I told him about the carbonated Margarita Ji Bol I had just had at the Daisy Margarita Bar in LA, Marcos recommended the Mizuwari, an interpretation of a Japanese Highball with elderflower, peach, olive oil, lemon, and Toki whisky. I was sublimely blended with a floral fruit essence reminiscent of champagne. Marcos said that the ingredients had to be clarified so that they blended into the carbonation without getting coagulated on the bubbles. An enjoyable and light drink.

Having had a light dinner, I was still keen on ordering a choice appetizer. So I ordered the house-made pretzel with a side of mustard. The pretzel was extremely hot. I had to wait a bit before I could tear it apart. The server poured a light cheese fondue on the side of the mustard. It was tasty and baked with the quality you might get next door.

For my second and final drink for the evening, I ordered their signature drink, the Gospel, an espresso martini containing salted coffee, orange, ginger, picon and St. George vodka. It had a burst of flavor between the ginger and orange atop the coffee elements and spirit. Creative approach to elevating an espresso martini.

Everything about Bar Crenn exudes class but it is still approachable and somewhat casual which was not the case at Clemente Bar in NYC. The drinks were also superb. Seems like a perfect spot for a date. Look forward to returning to try more of the cocktail menu.

The Knenn has quickly become my favorite bar in San Francisco. The small plates are absolutely delicious, made with the freshest ingredients. My go-to cocktail is the espresso martini — and to be honest, I’ve never truly enjoyed one anywhere else in SF until now. Here, it’s crafted to perfection.

I also appreciate the details: they serve drinks in high-end, ultra-thin glassware with elegant, delicate stems — a sign of real quality.

The atmosphere is refined yet relaxed, never too loud, and attracts a cultured, respectful crowd. A perfect spot for a night out when you want exceptional drinks, great food, and an elevated vibe.

Everything was INCREDIBLE. I will dream about the truffled egg forever. Service team was impeccable, and Oscar was especially fantastic. Sometimes service can feel stuffy at higher end restaurants, but this was but the case at Bar Crenn. Everyone was warm and inviting. We felt right at home immediately. All of the drinks were so balanced. One of my friends was served an off menu orange blossom vodka cocktail at one point, and it was so good that my three friends all ordered another one. Delicately sweet and floral. Great note to finish on.

Bar Crenn’s reputation precedes it but I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect as I walked through the unassuming entryway into the dimly lit bar. The bassline of Biggie’s Hypnotize greeted me almost perfectly on cue, which as a New Yorker did something to my soul. The space is absolutely beautiful. Cozy, with vinyl records showcased just as prominently as the high-end bottles shelved above the bar. Even the coasters are vinyl records. Bar seating that has no business being that comfortable. French accents abound. The staff is on top of everything. The cocktails are phenomenal (this is what you came for, after all). According to our bartender, gratuity is built into the price of the drink, and frankly you’ll have a pretty hard time finding a better cocktail for that price, even in this neighborhood known for its lively libations. I’ll be back to systemically make my way through the menu… so help me god.
