Purple beets so tender, yet firm and flavorful, seasoned with a hint of dill, roasted pepitas, dollops of goat cheese with a perfect splash of citrus.
Roasted Brussel Sprouts – maple infused with tomato gastric, mama lil’s red peppers, caramelized shallots, and sprinkled with hazelnuts …..Each bite brought warm heat and a spicy flavorful taste to savor.
Finally, add a Pickle Gin Martini or a craft IPA, and some salty, crunchy pomme fritters – All to live for! Enjoy
Another fantastic culinary experience at Bar C’est L’Eau …. Sunday evening meal with a perfect Pickle Martini, Smoked Salmon Toast appetizer and Roast Chicken & Potato crepe!
Dessert was a special with pistachio ice creme and profiteroles (choux pastry with chocolate sauce) – Everything was flavorful & so fresh!
If you haven’t visited Bar C’est L’eau then you are missing out! Whether you visit as a large party or solo you will not be disappointed. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. Staff are warm and welcoming. The food has always been excellent! My favorites to date are the Tomato Bisque and the French Onion soups, the Chickpea Fritters, the Hanger Steak with Pomme Frites was perfectly prepared – steak melted in my mouth, and the Spring Pea Risotto was fresh and flavorful.
Each visit feels like a new experience as Chef creates new menu items and weekly specials. The Tumwater Craft District is lucky to add Bar C’est L’eau to its collection of great establishments.
The steak tartare special was really well made. Three in our party ordered the mussels which they loved. The salmon toasts were good but somewhat lacking in flavor. The frisee au lardons was good but seemed to have little to no dressing (not sure if the intention here was for the flavor to come from the tomatoes and bacon and parmesan or if there was supposed to be any dressing), but it was filling and presented nicely. The fries with the steaks were amazing! Saw a past review complaining about the aioli but we liked it, so it must have been improved since then. The drinks were quite good! Our waitress also went out of their way to pick up a kid friendly beverage from a nearby store for someone in our party.
We were disappointed to hear that a few of the dishes we wanted to try were unavailable, specifically the white gazpacho, but this is expected with new restaurants, and they mentioned they were changing up the menu at the time.
Overall, I think all of us will be back at some point and are interested in trying the fall/winter menu when that time comes!
The service on the other hand… could use a huge improvement, I feel like I saw the chef more on the floor than our server and they used a handheld POS! It took forever to get our first drinks, I had to ask about the specials and the server did not even know any details about some recent specials. We sat for awhile with our wine/ cocktails and water empty. IMHO the music from one of the neighbors was distracting and not helping the atmosphere of this restaurant.
The food was solid but the poor/ inexperienced service, and distracting atmosphere are not helping the chef…. I feel like if he was given the track and had some decent servers the food would SHINE! 1000% better than the “other French restaurant” in town
