Had a wonderful lunch at this chic but casual restaurant. Sat at the bar and chatted with one of the friendly owners who was also our server. Ordered way too much food including, as an afterthought, the fries that were literally the best we’d ever tasted. The French onion soup was deeply flavorful and so comforting on a cold day. Got a gluten-free version of the chickpea baguette, served as a wrap with a cauliflower crust. Delicious particularly when slathered with the aioli that came with the fries. Also ordered a Croque Madame crepe, which my friend said was really tasty. Will totally return!!!

Bar C’est L’eau raises the bar for Thurston County cuisine! The Tumwater Craft district gets a major upgrade with these francophiles in the building. Superb winter menu, very fresh and beautifully presented. The house made baguettes make for a delicious French onion soup. The radicchio and frisée salad was perfected with the classic French poached egg. The beet risotto was a triumph and tasted very Polish with sour cream and fresh dill. Eager to see how the menu evolves in the spring. Enchanteur!

Wife and I (Ray) dined here for Valentine’s Day and were blown away by the special 4-course meal (got excited about the first course and ate it before we could take a picture). Well worth the price; we’ll be back. Service (thank you, Jimmi and K!) was attentive and welcoming—highly recommend for any event or occasion. Thank you, Bar C’est L’eau, for providing a dining experience that will undoubtedly be a core memory for us.

Small Plates are the perfect pairing for a movie/date night!

Purple beets so tender, yet firm and flavorful, seasoned with a hint of dill, roasted pepitas, dollops of goat cheese with a perfect splash of citrus.

Roasted Brussel Sprouts – maple infused with tomato gastric, mama lil’s red peppers, caramelized shallots, and sprinkled with hazelnuts …..Each bite brought warm heat and a spicy flavorful taste to savor.

Finally, add a Pickle Gin Martini or a craft IPA, and some salty, crunchy pomme fritters – All to live for! Enjoy

Another fantastic culinary experience at Bar C’est L’Eau …. Sunday evening meal with a perfect Pickle Martini, Smoked Salmon Toast appetizer and Roast Chicken & Potato crepe!
Dessert was a special with pistachio ice creme and profiteroles (choux pastry with chocolate sauce) – Everything was flavorful & so fresh!

If you haven’t visited Bar C’est L’eau then you are missing out! Whether you visit as a large party or solo you will not be disappointed. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. Staff are warm and welcoming. The food has always been excellent! My favorites to date are the Tomato Bisque and the French Onion soups, the Chickpea Fritters, the Hanger Steak with Pomme Frites was perfectly prepared – steak melted in my mouth, and the Spring Pea Risotto was fresh and flavorful.
Each visit feels like a new experience as Chef creates new menu items and weekly specials. The Tumwater Craft District is lucky to add Bar C’est L’eau to its collection of great establishments.

From the moment we walked in I was greeted with a friendly smile. The service was prompt and there were no mistakes. The flavor of each of the dishes we ordered were amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection. Might not seem like much to some, but the bread and butter… absolutely delicious. This was such a balanced meal with all kinds of flavor, and quality cooking. This place is a gem right here. I couldn’t have been more satisfied. Will be back, and when family is in town, it’s definitely a spot we’re going to.

This place is amazing!! I searched for must experience restuarants in Tumwater and this one came up. We were headed to Tumwater falls, this is just two blocks away. We ordered the Cranberry French Toast, side of bacon and the Mushroom Leek crepe with added bacon. Superb!! The French toast was so good but to us the crepe was the star! Perfect sauce and the mushrooms were aplenty. Friendly staff! Everyone talked to us and answered all of our questions. This place is a must go to for anyone interested in a foodie experience, fun cocktails and wonderful staff. We sat at the bar which was comfortable and fun.

We had a great experience! We were a large group and were happy they were able to seat all of us.
The steak tartare special was really well made. Three in our party ordered the mussels which they loved. The salmon toasts were good but somewhat lacking in flavor. The frisee au lardons was good but seemed to have little to no dressing (not sure if the intention here was for the flavor to come from the tomatoes and bacon and parmesan or if there was supposed to be any dressing), but it was filling and presented nicely. The fries with the steaks were amazing! Saw a past review complaining about the aioli but we liked it, so it must have been improved since then. The drinks were quite good! Our waitress also went out of their way to pick up a kid friendly beverage from a nearby store for someone in our party.
We were disappointed to hear that a few of the dishes we wanted to try were unavailable, specifically the white gazpacho, but this is expected with new restaurants, and they mentioned they were changing up the menu at the time.
Overall, I think all of us will be back at some point and are interested in trying the fall/winter menu when that time comes!

Everyone was so nice, the chef even greeted us as we walked in. The menu items were explained, however everything sounded so delicious it made for a harder decision. Chose the Cot Cot Chicken sandwich, it did not disappoint. Crispy crust with super tender chicken that was twice the size of the bun. The flavor combination was amazing! Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu, although it will be hard to beat the Cot Cot.

First time here, love the music, old school Michael Jackson, Temptations, Earth Wind and Fire! The place has a funky smell but I think that’s because they make sweet crepes and cook savory food in an open kitchen, so you smell everything at once. Not a fan of the barstools, I feel like I’m slipping forward Overall, cheap cider flight and okay food prices. A little pricey but it’s expected at the Craft District.

Food was amazing, the only thing I would mention about the food is that the French onion soup could use more cheese/perhaps a different bowl(or wide soup bowl).
The service on the other hand… could use a huge improvement, I feel like I saw the chef more on the floor than our server and they used a handheld POS! It took forever to get our first drinks, I had to ask about the specials and the server did not even know any details about some recent specials. We sat for awhile with our wine/ cocktails and water empty. IMHO the music from one of the neighbors was distracting and not helping the atmosphere of this restaurant.

The food was solid but the poor/ inexperienced service, and distracting atmosphere are not helping the chef…. I feel like if he was given the track and had some decent servers the food would SHINE! 1000% better than the “other French restaurant” in town
