The food is Mexican with a touch of NY Bistro classics, a great burger and fries or a delicious pan-fried chicken. To sit in our sidewalk café and enjoy a fish taco with a cold michelada or a hibiscus margarita is our idea of an enjoyable afternoon. Bar Bruno has delivery service as well as pick up service. These are the elements of what every ideal neighborhood restaurant should offer its guests. Friendly people, fair prices, great music and good drinks.
Mexican dishes, bistro classics & cocktails served in a chill hangout with sidewalk tables.

Bar Bruno Begins Again – by Andrea Strong

We had a late lunch here after waiting to get on the waitlist for “that other place.” The server didn’t check on us much, but was super cool. Had to flag him down to place our order, all good (I hear it’s like that in Europe, so maybe it’s just a NYC thing).
OH MAN, try the Birria pizza, it’s phenomenal (especially with the burnt cheese on the edges, so good)! I definitely recommend Bar Bruno for a late lunch, casual drinks, or to try something new and creative.
Prices are also really reasonable for the quality, which is a huge plus in NYC. Overall, it’s just an easy, go-to spot if you’re craving good tacos without the pretense.
Bar Bruno is the perfect neighborhood spot and a MUST-VISIT. While I won’t wax poetic about the decor, the ambiance cradles you in its warm embrace. For an after-work cocktail, an impromptu date night, or simply a delightful meal—Bar Bruno is a beautiful option. Oh, and did I mention they serve brunch?
The staff embodies warmth, extending a welcome that feels like a hug in the form of impeccable service—the food dances on your palate, a perfect companion to your choice of libation.
On my first visit, I indulged in a taco trio featuring steak, fish, and shrimp, a true palate pleaser. This time around, we explored their dinner menu. We initiated the feast with Guacamole and Plantains, then ventured onto the Chopped Cheese Wraps, Burger Tacos, and Quinoa Veggie Burgers. For the grand finale—we ended on a sweet note with the Flan and Dessert Nachos.
Guacamole is not my usual pick, but the pumpkin seeds made it a flavorful and adventurous choice. The Plantains was the perfect harmony of sweet and savory, transcending a mere appetizer to become the ultimate side dish.
The Chopped Cheese Wrap deserves a standing ovation. A mouthwatering blend of pepper jack cheese and onions—makes it an absolute must-order. The Quinoa Veggie Burger, a vegetarian delight, tasted so good that I momentarily forgot it was meatless. But the crown jewel of the evening? The Burger Tacos—imagine the perfect burger and a delightful taco having a culinary love affair. And guess what? The French fries are in the tacos. Genius.
And the dessert? The Flan and Dessert Nachos brought our memorable meal to a sweet conclusion.
While dinner was an absolute delight, I’d gladly return for the margaritas. These concoctions are in a league of their own, perfectly balanced with a burst of flavor that avoids the pitfall of excessive sweetness. Passion Fruit and Strawberry were our picks, and they left us craving more.
This visit to Bar Bruno was nothing short of a wonderful, unforgettable experience, and I’m eagerly anticipating my next visit with their tempting menu.
Happy hour drinks are offered on weeknights. The servers provide gratis chips and salsa. The pitcher of sangria was tasty but unfortunately very small pitcher.
