First time and when I tell you, we felt welcomed as soon as we walked through the door♥️.AnyWho, let’s get to this meal we had so my husband decided to get the sausage, potato salad and coleslaw and I got the thin end ribs potato salad and mac & cheese and when I tell you, it was delicious delicious delicious now that’s what I’m talking about when it comes to barbecue I’ll give y’all a 10 out of 10 and I will be back. I highly recommend y’all try them out.

The ribs were great until.the last 3 or 4 weeks. Now we get fewer ribs for the same price, and they are not prepared as they were. We tried 3 times. Same thing. Meat was also barely warm.

The online prices were increased at the start of the 2026 new year, according to the server but the price increase is not reflected on the online or in-store menus. Additionally, I was overcharged for my meal. When I called about the extra charge, I was informed that ithe additional charge was for extra sauce on 2 sandwiches and the person o the phone apologized for the mistake but didn’t offer to correct the issue. The store was not able to fill orders for multiple items on the menu, after being open for only a few minutes. Very disappointed and underwhelmed with the decline of my favorite childhood barbecue spot.

Sadly it’s a definite no for me! The prices online definitely need to be changed to reflect how much they actually charge. I do understand that prices are subject to change but not by almost $10. I ordered a half a slab, no sides and that was $23. A little pricey for that but I was banking on quality. Well that fell flat because the ribs I bought on Friday tasted like Wednesdays ribs. Tough and chewy and dry! Thank god for the salty sauce! After years of eating at bbq king(the old one) I have to scratch this place off my list. Won’t be back

After finishing a meeting at COhatch, we noticed Bar-B-Que King right next door and decided to give it a try. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with a warm, genuine smile that immediately made us feel at home. The staff patiently explained the menu, even celebrating with us when they found out it was our first visit. It truly felt like we were among friends and family.
Another young lady went above and beyond to make sure our experience was unforgettable, and she did it with such kindness that it really stood out.
Now, the food, wow. Simply outstanding! The chicken was seasoned to perfection, the potato salad was fresh and flavorful, and the ribs were tender and delicious. Every bite reminded us why local gems like this are worth supporting.
This is more than just a place to eat, it’s a place to enjoy good food with even better people. If you’re in Tampa, Bar-B-Que King is a must-visit. We will definitely be back soon for more mouthwatering BBQ and the wonderful hospitality!

I recently moved to Tampa and loveeee BBQ King. Normally only eat chicken when I go for BBQ but their food is so good I now eat pork ribs ! lol I never thought I would be eating pork but everything on their menu is delicious. The smoke it fresh everyday never disappointed. If you go get your sauce mixed for a medium heat.

Went in at about 3:30pm to order 2 family packs ( 1/2slab of Rib, 1/2 Chicken & 2 lrg sides) The owner was sitting next to the cashier station watching football on a tv,. She did not welcome me in. I made may order w/ the young cashier and the owner spoke up and said they were out of greens, so than I changed my selection to baked beans and Mac & Cheese. The cashier was about to let me pay for the family packs & the owner ( while staring at her Tv) “dont have anymore family packs because we are out of half chickens”. I asked her did they have and she said what’s on the menu. I asked if she would just give me leg quarter and a breast from the dinner meal to complete a family pack, because was a large price difference to order two comb meals and you get less meat. She refused. A young man pointed out that substitution of the meat to the family pack would be a good customer gesture. The owner said im not changing anything because my meat gone sell anyway”. I ordered tow combos w/ mac & cheese & bake beans & the owner said we out of mac and cheese. I ve been going to the Barbecue King since I was 10years old; I’m 62. We grew up around the corner on LaSalle Street. It was wonderful to see the upgraded building, though I miss seeing the open pit and the guys cooking and chopping ribs and chicken. The Customer Service or lack there of was simply “crappie”. It made my whole experience while visiting my old neighborhood terrible. I know you own the business, youre in control, but flexing that control ,& your self imposed superiority had no place in your dealing with a customer who simply wanted to support your business. The Food is still great! But your customer skills, the way you treated me, your nonchalant attitude left a very bad taste in my mouth. I pray you get better Mrs Mattie Mae Williams

The chicken I ordered was baked in the oven instead of barbequed on a grill and was sized like a kids meal. The beans were not baked beans, they were pork and beans which is incredibly misleading for non meat eaters. The potato salad tasted store bought with no eggs or seasonings. I went around 6pm on a Friday and they were all out of collard greens. This restaurant has been here since my father was a lite boy and I will literally never go back – it was terrible.
