Now the downside — even on a weekday, we had to wait around 45 minutes to get a table. So be prepared for that.
Once seated, the food definitely made up for it.
We ordered:
Ginger Garlic Chicken – perfectly cooked and flavourful.
Chilly Honey Lotus Stem – a bit too sweet because of the sauce, but still very crispy and enjoyable.
Pan-Fried Chilli Fish – fresh and tasty.
Assorted Dimsum Platter – good taste, but only 5 pieces, which felt a little less.
Long Island Iced Tea – strong and well-made.
Tutti Frutti dessert – very tasty and a nice finish to the meal.
Overall, a solid dining experience with great food and good facilities, but the waiting time can really test your patience.
The staff keeps things moving with surprising speed given the rush. You do not feel ignored, you do not wait endlessly, and the orders land on the table faster than expected. They know their crowd and they handle it efficiently.
I went for Chelo Kebab and a pint of beer. The kebab was flavorful without being over-spiced, the butter rice and egg balanced it well, and the beer did its job. Nothing over the top, nothing to complain about. Just solid, tasty food. Total bill for two was roughly 1800, which feels fair for the location and what you get.
If someone wants a place with history, good food, and an energetic atmosphere, Bar B Q still earns its slot on Park Street. If noise and crowd are deal-breakers, this will not work. But if you want that unmistakable old Kolkata dining vibe, you will walk out satisfied.
I had a terrible experience at BAR-B-Q Restaurant on Park Street. The food was subpar, and the service was extremely slow. We waited over an hour for our dishes, and when they arrived, they were cold and tasteless. The ambiance was also disappointing, feeling chaotic and noisy.
The staff seemed unprofessional and inattentive, adding to the overall poor experience. Given the high prices, I expected much better quality. Unfortunately, my visit was a letdown, and I wouldn’t recommend it .
Either the Indian cuisine is the true attraction or the Chinese chef had changed.
If I compare with Mainland China or FOO the food is average. At best I will say it is passable Indian Chinese.
Forget about places that only have beautiful ambience but lacks food quality.
The staffs are very curtious and always ready to serve you. Hot plates, sumptuous food, wooden furnitures….it really makes a difference..
My request is for the new generation to make a visit for sure.
