Stopped by Bao Nine after work and was seriously impressed. I ordered the sticky chicken bao and the Brussels sprouts, and everything was spot on. The bao bun was soft, fluffy, and practically melted in my mouth. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the chicken was delicious. The Brussels sprouts were crispy and fresh with great texture. Service was quick and friendly. I’ll definitely be back to try more buns.

First time at Bao Nine and I loved it. The sticky chicken bao was incredible, with a super soft bun that just melts when you bite into it. The flavors worked perfectly together. Creative bao combos- I got the mahi mami (left), the sticky chicky (middle), and the yenta (right). The fish was excellent, and the teriyaki chicken was pretty good too, very saucy. Not a fan of the yenta, the horseradish was a bit much and I just didn’t really like the flavor combo. The cucumber was the showstopper, absolutely delicious, not spicy but very flavorful. The dessert fried bao was also really good, kinda like sopapillas.

We ordered takeout from there and it was EXCELLENT! The website is very easy to use, and we got a free bao bun for creating the account!
My husband had a rice bowl with grilled chicken and raved about it! He loved the veggies and interesting sauces. We thoroughly enjoyed The Sticky Chicky, The Crispy Chick, and The Prime Time buns.

Bao Nine exceeded my expectations. I ordered the sticky chicken bao and Brussels sprouts, and both were excellent. The bao bun was incredibly soft and flavorful, and the filling was perfectly cooked. The Brussels sprouts were crisp and well-seasoned. Everything tasted fresh, and the service was fast and efficient. I’m already planning my next visit.

Had a quick lunch order pickup, the spicy crunch cucumbers were very good but need a little more spicy imo but they were fresh and crunchy. Also has the Bao Bao bun, the short rib was flavorful but just a little chewy. I will def be back to try more.

Tried Bao Nine for the first time today. I had three buns and the Brussel sprouts. For the buns, I had the Crispy Chick, Sticky Chicky, and the Bang Bang. All three were delicious but the Sticky Chicky was my favorite of the three. The buns themselves were nice and fluffy. The Brussel sprouts were very delicious and highly recommended. Plenty of free parking. Looking forward to trying more varieties in the future.

Bao Nine Malvern had their grand opening today (congrats!). The owners have at least one other location in Center City.
I ordered three bao: Crispy Chicken, Sticky Chicky, and Bao Boa. Understandably, there are some things to work out.
Here’s what I think needs work:
* My only food complaint is a big one. In both chicken bao, the protein was WAaaay overcooked and so dry it was actually difficult to bite into and chew. (pic) The chicken didn’t taste like it was made to order, but more like it was precooked, sat under a warming light for half a day, then reheated. Yummy toppings and sauces can’t hide a piece of chicken that chews like a brick.
* The inside of the restaurant is about 90% there. The worst thing I noticed was the ladies bathroom; it needs deep cleaned. Besides being messy (the toilet brush hanging out of its holder, pieces of paper towels and hair on the floor, trash filled to the brim) the floor corners were grimy, and the walls needed a good wash. This was old dirt, meaning the bathroom was this way before Bao Nine took over the retail space. Since this was the Grand Opening, I was surprised the restaurant hadn’t been scrubbed down with bleach and a power washer.
That said, here’s what was great:
* When I opened the box, the bao were BEAUTIFUL! (pic) I thought the presentation was really well done.
* Despite the very dry chicken, the other components of the sandwitches were great. The buns were perfect and the toppings tasted delicious.
* The Bao Boa brisket was good.
* They gave free chips for the Grand Opening. In my opinion, this is ALWAYS a smart move. I was offered something I would have probably never bought, but after trying today, I would buy them in the future – they were good!
* Logo design is super cute, just saying
If not for the chicken, the food would have been very good. I kept my review at 4 stars because it could be a great spot for bao if they work out the hiccups. In the meantime, I recommend ordering the Bao Boa. I’ll be coming back to try Bao Nine again.

Loved every bite
From the cauliflower buffalo, to the brisket with truffle oil, crispy chicken, etc they were all great.

Bao nine or should I say WOW nine! I was beyond satisfied with my experience at this chic fast-casual eatery. The “Sticky Chicky” bao bun is the perfect blend of sweet and spice. It’s exactly what one expects from a traditional bao style sandwich. The “Prime Time”, an homage to the cheeseburger, is sure to please people of all ages. Topped with a classic burger sauce and fresh produce to boot. Don’t throw in the towel just yet, the “bao boa”, with it’s smooth truffle whiz and perfectly braised short rib, has entered the ring and it’s got a trick up it’s sleeve. A cherry pepper relish that is sure to bring the heat.
Don’t sleep on the sides, the taro chips are razor thin yet substantial. The dipping sauces served alongside are delightful, a sweet chili and Asian style mustard dressing. My favorite of all though has got to be the charred brussel sprouts. I mean WOW nine. The brussel sprouts are topped with a light garlic gochujang sauce that blew me away. So incredibly flavorful, perfectly salty and little acidic as it should be. Then to top it off, a crispy rice that dances with the gochujang, taking on its flavor but not soaking in any moisture.
The staff at this restaurant was incredibly kind. They took the time to explain their menu and were very quick in preparing our food. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. It feels like there is a little something for everyone.
