I’ve been wanting to come here for a while and finally got the chance to eat here with a friend on a Saturday around 9am. Luckily it was early enough that we were seated right away and I had my toddler and baby with me in the car seat and the lovely waitress offered me a sling for the car seat! I really love that this is more common in restaurants now (unless it’s always been that way and I’m is it how realizing it!) either way, love this!

Their parking lot shares with another business, while there is a good amount of parking, the spots are a little tricky to get in and out. The walkway in is very narrow but once inside it feels more open and definitely has that homey diner vibe that I miss coming from the east coast!

Now the food is definitely the star of the show! I think the prices are typical for similar restaurants but the portions are huge! We got the special Sweet Potato Skillet and shared it between two adults and we were both very full from it. They LOADED it with the meats! I wasn’t sure how I felt about their biscuits – it feels like a cornbread/biscuit combo and I haven’t decided if I like that or not lol. Another friend got the cheeseburger and again very large in size with a generous amount of hot and fresh fries with their yummy homemade ranch dressing. My 4 yo got her own kids breakfast and loved the big strips of bacon. Yum!

Our waitress was efficient but not overly friendly but I understand the weekend morning breakfast rush. Oh you MUST get the Marionberry Poppyseed Cake!! I will honestly come back just for that!

Come check out this local gem and your stomach will thank you!

Excellent restaurant, simply excellent.

Cozy with a nice ambiance throughout, with friendly and attentive staff.

A varied menu of delicious food (especially the steak medallion’s) and the delicious pies (marionberry!)

Talk about comfort food! We ate so much at breakfast that we had no room left for dessert. So I ordered a slice to go. The photo is the Marion berry Poppyseed cake – this is ONE slice folks! It was delicious!! We loved the Elvis Pie as well. And yes, you must count on having dessert after breakfast when the food is this good!

Ordered the pumpkin maple pecan pancakes for breakfast. Good, not great. They were pretty dry, and the 2 strips of bacon were barely warm. Service was friendly but sloooow. Pricey for what you get. Didn’t try the pies however, which may have been better.

We got there about 6:30. We got great parking, was seated right away. Then nothing…no water nothing. People in the next booth went up to get there own leftover containers. Told them we were waiting, still no one came… so we left. So disappointed!
We eat there often when in town and have always had great service ,but after last night might consider a different restaurant.

Been driving past this restaurant on my way to work for 4 years. This place is exactly what you hope for in this establishment…food was good, service even better and quite the hi tech wait list system in place that worked smoothly!

A Tigard institution (known for their pies I guess?) Had a nice big breakfast here — omelet with a side of pancakes! — but there’s also a full menu of other comfort food, with lunch and dinner items, and it’s open 7 days. Think of it as a modern diner – a bit more up to date, and without the old fashioned decor. There are booths and tables, and an outside patio, and the server I had was great. There’s a parking lot in the back, too.

The food was sooo good and the staff was very kind. It had a very cozy atmosphere. Easy to see why they’ve been in business for so long.

Very rude! My wife was browsing their online menu and spotted “loaded hash browns” that she wanted. When my wife called in, she ordered “stuffed hash browns.” “Stuffed hash browns” is something Banning’s did not have on their online menu when my wife called in to make the order. When I got home, what she got is in the photo I’ve added to this review.

First, it’s not what my wife wanted, and when my wife ordered something that isn’t even on their online menu, the person taking the order should have verified what my wife wanted.

Secondly, the food looked like someone’s leftovers, half-eaten, and obviously made several hours ago.

When I called back to fix the problem, they said it was no problem. As I was picking up the correct food, I said, “I’m picking up the order that was made wrong.” The blonde behind the counter clapped back very rudely, “It wasn’t made wrong; it was ordered wrong.”

I apologized for the misunderstanding and went on my way. However, as I mentioned before, the person taking the order should have verified the order, considering that my wife ordered something that’s not even on their online menu.

I will say that what I picked up the second time was correct and freshly made. That’s why I rated the food 3 stars and not one star.

This is the second time my to go dessert order has been sub standard. The first time I got cherry pie instead of the chocolate cream I ordered. This time, the chocolate cake is smaller piece than is the norm at Bannings; it’s also carelessly packaged. I’m usually an excellent tipper, 25% or more, but I only tipped about 15% this time due to the service while eating there. I’m going to start choosing whose section I sit in from now on. Two of the male servers don’t seem to care much about the job they do.
