Our story began in Bristol, where the passionate and highly experienced team behind the award- winning fine dining Indian restaurants Mint Room in Bath and Bristol, had a vision to create a modern, casual dining, Indian street food restaurant. A restaurant which would be fun, relaxed yet creates a “wow” factor with its cooking. This is exactly what they did with the intimate and informal Bandook Indian Kitchen, in the desirable, neighbourhood hub of Bristol’s Wapping Wharf.

Overall, the food could be better. Christmas setup was nice and staff were attentive.
For starters Bandook Chat, a single dahi bhalla in a potato basket, could be punchy. Paneer Tikka Masala (main dish), chunky paneer pieces in tomato sauce, was far too liquid and sweet. As a side, we ordered Palak Makai with few dots of baby corn, was our main highlight of lunch. Laccha parath recommended.

We come here for dinner sometimes and it’s always a lovely experience. However, we’ve been coming more lately because they serve amazing breakfast! We always get the Paratha with spiced scrambled eggs with Masala beans, and a side of Aloo Browns! It’s delicious. It’s such a nice change from all the other brunch places. They also offer a vegan alternative, as well as their take on the English Breakfast and the usual stuff. And they also recommend a chai and cardamom cake – both delicious! The staff are so lovely and friendly.

An absolutely amazing restaurant. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Moe, who made us feel so welcome straight away, like we were old friends. Food was out of this world and nice background music playing. Service was exceptional all night and the staff very friendly and kind.

The chicken 65 was perfectly spiced, and the tandoori chicken was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. The naan complemented our meal beautifully.

The food was amazing and Aisha was a great server and gave us some great recommendations. Palak Makai was delicious paired with the garlic naan. Also recommend the Amritsari fish from the small plates and the mango salad was a good palate cleanser.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly, welcoming and made us feel completely at ease. It’s such a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
The food was absolutely delicious — full of flavour and beautifully presented. I highly recommend the Railway Lamb Curry — the lamb was incredibly tender and rich with warming spices. Every dish we ordered was fresh, vibrant and clearly made with care.
The mango lassi was the perfect refreshing finish to the meal — smooth, cooling and not overly sweet.
A fantastic experience all round. We’ll definitely be returning and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Bath.
