Banana Bay is really unique – Thai food meets nightclub. Not the place to have a conversation and catch up with friends, but super fun to get drinks, enjoy good food, and party with live entertainment. We stumbled upon their Friday night live music, which was fun.
It is a bit hot and hard to hear – even the staff had a hard time hearing us. But I think it depends on the time you come in. Parking can be hectic in the larger lot, so we opted for parking on the opposite side of the complex.
We ordered the chicken satay, house pad thai, green curry, and spicy beef, which were all excellent. For 3 people (4 with a drink), including drinks and tip, the total came out to around 100 or 33$/person. Overall a fun spot.
Halloween entrance decor is super cute! The front fish tank is really sad (very crowded with enormous fishes).
Another customer walked in after us, over to where what looks to be the cooks area, for a pick up/delivery order and was promptly helped by the same employee who had glanced at us again many times and still did not acknowledge us.
We left after about 10 minutes of waiting, even used the bathroom to pass time, waiting for anyone to acknowledge customers standing there.
This place is either dead with no customers or extremely crowded. I’ve eaten here when it’s busy and the small parking lot is very very chaotic. From what I remember, the food I ordered was decent but the service however was cold/short and basically non existent almost gave buffet/cafeteria vibes.
It’s very disappointing to have high hopes for this restaurant compared to what was experienced today. Maybe dine in on specific days/times when there’s different staff working.
I also feel sad for those poor massive fish cramped in that tiny aquarium and the little fish in the big aquarium that are attacking each other and destroying their fins.
Pro tip: Not too sure the food is decent here anymore. Don’t bother with dine-in or you’ll be wasting time standing at the door regardless if its busy or not.
Unfortunately, nothing really did. While the food wasn’t bad, it also wasn’t memorable. Every dish was just okay—lacking that distinctive flavor or freshness that usually defines great Thai cuisine. There wasn’t one plate that made us say, “Wow, we need to come back for this.”
Given all the hype, we left feeling a little confused. The overall experience didn’t live up to the expectations, and while I wouldn’t say it was a terrible meal, it certainly wasn’t one I’d go out of my way to have again.
The food was decent, Pad Thai: was chill, BBQ chicken fried rice was aight, just my opinion.
But the vibes and service were great 9/10
Highly recommend!
When I was finally seated, the service remained cold and dismissive. It’s a shame because the kitchen is talented; the dishes are authentic and delicious. However, no meal is worth being treated this poorly.
Pro tip: Get it to-go. Don’t bother dining in and wasting your time standing at the door.
