Came to Banana Bay as a midway point between LA friends for late Friday night dinner. On Nov 7, Halloween decor was still up, and there was a Thriller dance break, which was pretty fun.

Banana Bay is really unique – Thai food meets nightclub. Not the place to have a conversation and catch up with friends, but super fun to get drinks, enjoy good food, and party with live entertainment. We stumbled upon their Friday night live music, which was fun.

It is a bit hot and hard to hear – even the staff had a hard time hearing us. But I think it depends on the time you come in. Parking can be hectic in the larger lot, so we opted for parking on the opposite side of the complex.

We ordered the chicken satay, house pad thai, green curry, and spicy beef, which were all excellent. For 3 people (4 with a drink), including drinks and tip, the total came out to around 100 or 33$/person. Overall a fun spot.

This place has great drinks.I believe they were like six dollars each. And the food is just so yummy. I had a curry from here, a pad tie.And some egg rolls, and everything is very good

Chinese Thai Food. Everything will be more sweet and definitely different from Thai food. Never been to this new location. It’s also been ages since visiting Banana Bay. They have happy hour, cheaper beer and alcoholic drinks everyday after 6pm! Parking can be difficult after 530pm on a weekend. Its a popular plaza.

Halloween entrance decor is super cute! The front fish tank is really sad (very crowded with enormous fishes).

Today mid-afternoon it was dead, quiet, with very few customers. We walked in and saw a sign that said press button and wait here to be seated – so we pressed the button and waited.. and waited.. multiple staff members looked over at us but no one came over to acknowledge us.

Another customer walked in after us, over to where what looks to be the cooks area, for a pick up/delivery order and was promptly helped by the same employee who had glanced at us again many times and still did not acknowledge us.

We left after about 10 minutes of waiting, even used the bathroom to pass time, waiting for anyone to acknowledge customers standing there.

This place is either dead with no customers or extremely crowded. I’ve eaten here when it’s busy and the small parking lot is very very chaotic. From what I remember, the food I ordered was decent but the service however was cold/short and basically non existent almost gave buffet/cafeteria vibes.

It’s very disappointing to have high hopes for this restaurant compared to what was experienced today. Maybe dine in on specific days/times when there’s different staff working.

I also feel sad for those poor massive fish cramped in that tiny aquarium and the little fish in the big aquarium that are attacking each other and destroying their fins.

Pro tip: Not too sure the food is decent here anymore. Don’t bother with dine-in or you’ll be wasting time standing at the door regardless if its busy or not.

After hearing several recommendations, I finally had a chance to try out this Thai restaurant that a few friends had been raving about. Naturally, we ordered a couple of our go-to Thai dishes—things we typically use as a baseline for comparing restaurants—and also ventured out to try a few new items to see if anything stood out.
Unfortunately, nothing really did. While the food wasn’t bad, it also wasn’t memorable. Every dish was just okay—lacking that distinctive flavor or freshness that usually defines great Thai cuisine. There wasn’t one plate that made us say, “Wow, we need to come back for this.”
Given all the hype, we left feeling a little confused. The overall experience didn’t live up to the expectations, and while I wouldn’t say it was a terrible meal, it certainly wasn’t one I’d go out of my way to have again.

Unexpected late night dinner with live music on a Friday night.
The food was decent, Pad Thai: was chill, BBQ chicken fried rice was aight, just my opinion.

But the vibes and service were great 9/10
Highly recommend!

This restaurant is spacious. It’s huge. Love their decor. Awesome ambiance and atmosphere. Their food is very authentic. It’s definitely homemade. Got the yellow curry. Tons of chicken. Flavor was decent. It needed more onions. Paid $11.95 for lunch special. Great price. Service is okay. Not the best.

actually, most terrible service here.. but food is great. I stood at the entrance for 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged I was there—multiple staff members walked right past me like I was invisible.
When I was finally seated, the service remained cold and dismissive. It’s a shame because the kitchen is talented; the dishes are authentic and delicious. However, no meal is worth being treated this poorly.
Pro tip: Get it to-go. Don’t bother dining in and wasting your time standing at the door.

I’ve been coming to banana bay for over 15 years. The quality has decreased post covid. I wonder if their original chef retired. My tom yum noodle soup tasted like a 2 flavor profile instead of the previous 5, so more simplified less flavorful. My minced meat over rice had bulky chunks that made it less texturally accurate and was sloppy execution. It used to be exquisite and better seasoned too. Best thing was that they had a band singing old R&B songs, that was great nostalgic vibes.
