Brilliant Korean BBQ

When you get in, you are met with a small, tightly packed place with limited tables. I recommend getting a reservation.

The atmosphere is pretty decent, with some decor, but with all of the people sitting, talking, and the grill noises, it can be a little hard to hear.

I ordered my go-to, bulgogi and pork belly, and they came out in decent portions. I would argue they were sort of generous with the pork belly, as the size was quite big. You can order by scanning a QR code, and get the full experience online.

As for the barbeque experience, it’s cool. The waiters put a parchment paper on the grill and then it’s your stage. After a lot of grilling, there can be oil burns on the parchment paper, so don’t be afraid to ask for another one.

The food tastes very good, and I would come back again whenever I have the chance to. Highly recommend!

Today we went out for Korean food, and the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.

The KIM CHI JI GAE~kimchi soup was unbearably salty and overly sour, to the point that it was almost inedible.

The KIM CHI CHUN~kimchi pancakes was ridiculously small in portion and completely unsatisfying.
The DOLSOT BIBIMBAP~beef stone pot rice was bland and forgettable.

TheDDOK BO KKI was shockingly stingy – only six rice cake in total, with just two tiny pieces of fish cake.
The KAN PUNG KI“spicy” fried chicken had absolutely no heat whatsoever, tasting only of salt.

Taking everything into account, the food quality was extremely poor and nowhere near acceptable for the price. Three of us spend £75, and it was a complete waste of money.
I would strongly advise others to avoid this restaurant and would never recommend it to anyone.

We’re so glad we chose this Korean bbq restaurant – it was fun, welcoming, a one of a kind dining experience!
Ordering an array of delicious meats and veggie dishes to cook on the hot pot ourselves was ideal for a large group (My favourite the pickled radish)
The staff were attentive and quick to help every request: from changing the grill often, adjusting the fire, and regularly checking in to see if we needed anything else.
When in Manchester again, Ban Di Bul will be our go-to! Thank you

I honestly do not even know where to begin, as writing a negative review is something I have never felt compelled to do before. I am not the type of person to complain publicly, but after my experience last night, remaining silent feels like a disservice to anyone else considering dining here. I left Ban Di Bul not just disappointed, but feeling genuinely cheated and physically ill. I spent £66 on a meal that I wouldn’t have agreed to pay £20 for had I known the sheer lack of quality awaiting me. There is a profound disconnect between the exorbitant prices this restaurant charges and the utterly mediocre, chaotic reality of what they actually deliver. This wasn’t just a bad dinner; it was a distressing experience from start to finish.

The atmosphere alone is enough to ruin any appetite. I understand that restaurants want to maximize capacity, but the seating arrangement here is nothing short of claustrophobic. The tables are jammed so tightly together that there is zero personal space; you are practically dining in the laps of strangers. There was no moment to actually enjoy the company I was with because we were in a constant state of anxiety, guarding our food and soup to ensure it wasn’t knocked over by a passerby. Every two minutes, someone was bumping into me or my chair. It is impossible to relax when you are physically flinching through your meal, worried that a hot broth is going to be spilled on you due to the sheer lack of walkway space.

Compounding the cramping was the absolutely appalling ventilation. For a BBQ restaurant, the air quality was inexcusable. Within minutes, the room felt suffocating, filled with a stagnant, heavy haze of roasting meat and burnt grease. Instead of a delicious culinary aroma, the air was thick with the smell of charred leftovers, which made breathing difficult and the dining environment oppressive. This lack of fresh air, combined with the heat and the crowding, directly contributed to a rising wave of nausea I felt throughout the night. I wasn’t just uncomfortable; I felt physically sick and completely trapped in a room that felt like it was roasting its patrons along with the food.

Then, there was the food itself an insulting display of low quality at premium prices. We ordered the pork grill for around £13, and the very first bite filled my mouth with instant regret rather than flavor. You could taste the freezer burn; it was clearly old, frozen meat masquerading as fresh BBQ. It was lifeless and unpalatable. The apple juice, priced at a staggering £4.50, tasted like a cheap, watered-down drink you’d buy for a pound at a corner shop. But the absolute worst offender was their “signature” beef soup with noodles. For over £30, I expected something spectacular. Instead, I was served what tasted like basic, salty meat stock thrown over noodles. It was a horrible, flavorless mess that eventually made me feel so nauseated I had to stop eating entirely.

To top off this disaster, the service was chaotic and disheartening. The restaurant is severely understaffed, and the few servers present looked completely overworked and exhausted. There was a significant language barrier, with staff barely understanding English, which made communicating our needs frustratingly difficult. It is clear that management is cutting corners on every single front, quality of ingredients, comfort of the facility, and welfare of the staff while charging fine-dining prices. I wouldn’t recommend Ban Di Bul to my worst enemy. Please, save your hard-earned money and your precious time. Do not make the same mistake I did; go literally anywhere else.

Food is fresh, no long waiting times, the self ordering is a breeze. Staff easily available to answer all questions. Was a busy dinner service but didn’t affect the quality of service provided. I have eaten at many Korean restaurants for many years, and around the world and it was every bit as good. Enjoyable meal out. I didn’t have the BBQ but the menu was extensive.

Great food! Great service! Good Atmosphere!

Me and my partner dined here on Saturday at one of the busiest times of day.. while we did book over the phone, they didn’t seem to have any records of this, luckily there was a table available!

We had such a great experience using the table top grills and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an interactive experience whilst enjoying a lean, tasty meal.

It’s like Spanish tapas with a Korean, cook your own food twist! A must-try for adventurous eaters… I’d definitely recommend to anyone looking to widen the pallet!

I try the stirfry spicy pork with rice, which is the lunch menu, include miso soup and a small portion of kimchi. The spicy pot taste is slightly different from the traditional Korean style, but is still tasty and is a big portion.£12.9.the staff was friendly.

This was my third visit to the restaurant. As it is usually busy, I had pre-booked a table for lunch for a reunion. Despite the peak lunch hours, everything was well organised and properly maintained.

We ordered the BBQ; compared to our previous visits, the portion size was smaller, although the taste remained very good. The service was excellent—drinks were served promptly, and the BBQ sets were arranged on time.

Overall, the experience was very good and met our expectations. However, more attention should be given to portion sizes to ensure better value for money.
