I ordered a couple of my favorite drinks/desserts and the green jelly was super chewy. It appears to be uncooked, and the wife and I were not able to chew it. So, it was less enjoyable for us this time.

Bambu Tacoma in Tacoma is the place for Asian Drinks & Desserts! If you never had Asian ice-cold drinks and desserts give this place a try. You’ll love it and will come back for more.

Bambu Tacoma has an excellent menu display with pictures showing what’s inside your drink/ dessert (in a cup). I usually order #6, which has everything with shaved ice, and I typically order a pendant or coconut waffle to go with it. A cold drink with a freshly made waffle tastes delicious!

Besides the great-tasting food, as soon as you walk into the restaurant, the staff greets you, which is important to me 🙂 The team works hard, and they are fantastic. My five-star rating is on excellent customer service, the taste of the food & drinks, and the right price.

Want more? Bambu Tacoma is conveniently located on the east side of I-5 on 38th Street, with easy parking on the street or the corners of the road.

I got to try their Halo Halo, which is a Filipino layered dessert consisting of shaved ice, fresh coconut milk, Ube ice cream and other toppings. The ube ice cream was smooth, creamy and perfectly sweet. I let it melt into the shaved ice, and it gave it a creamier texture. The coconut jelly was juicy and had good flavor. The dessert tasted well and was balanced.

Their Iced Cafe Latte was also pretty good. You get the taste of delicious coffee, while also enjoying the creaminess of a latte. I would order again. I also got to try their macarons. I tried their Birthday Cake, Chocolate Hazelnut, Pistachio, Green Tea and Passion Tea flavors. My favorite ones were the Birthday Cake, Pistachio and Chocolage Hazlenut. The flavors were present, smooth and balanced. Not too sweet or sour.

There are a variety of desserts and drinks available to choose from. There is something for everyone here.

Staff is friendly and fast. Parking is limited to about 20-25 spots.

Ok, so I’m not a Bubble Tea expert… but I love trying new things! My wife loves this stuff and we ended up here for a evening snack! Sooo good. I got a Strawberry milk tea with boba… don’t even know what that means but it’s so tasty! My wife got peach fruit tea and my sisters got mango fruit tea and passion fruit milk tea! They were all very good!
The staff is very knowledgeable. She was telling us literally everything she could about their products! They use fresh fruit and real tea. She also said they don’t use artificial sweeteners…
They have some other tasty snacks to include gluten free waffles and macarons. The environment is very clean and bright as well! Great place for kids with games and all sorts of distractions!
Check this place out.

What a fun place to bring your whole family to. My most favorite thing here is the Vietnamese egg cofee, not only is it delicious, but it gives you a serious caffeine buzz, don’t drink it in the evening unless you want to stay up all night . The waffles are unlike anything I have ever had! Crispy on the outside but super soft and chewy on the inside filled with jelly like fillings. Also, don’t forget to try the Taro lover. It’s a flavor unlike anything else in this world.

Delicious place to grab a treat to go or hang out with a friend. Street parking isn’t too bad, there’s a lot of different options mostly 2 hour and free! I love that everything is gluten free so I have tons of options. Don’t miss the pandan waffle, a true treat! I got the peach lychee fruit & basil seed tea with 50% sweetness. It was so refreshing with fun textures, I appreciate being able to adjust the sweetness to my taste. The staff is so friendly and helpful, they make great suggestions and know the menu well. All the food is so fresh and I’m impressed all their jellys and tapioca balls are made fresh daily!

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about bambu. Ever.
Me and my family have been going there for years and years and no drink has ever disappointed. From vietnamese coffee, to a strawberry white rabbit, they have drinks even the pickiest of people will enjoy.
(While it sounds simple, I suggest trying a smoothies like the passion in love or very berry and adding rainbow jellies or popping boba. You’ll thank me later)
The store is adorned with studio ghibli, pokemon, animation, and just generally cute themes! They also offer sweet treats like waffles and fresh mochi cupcakes. (Dont worry they have ice cream too)
Their staff is so kind, helpful, and hard working. If you don’t know what to order, or you are wondering what goes into the drinks ingredient wise dont hesitate to ask! The staff knows the menu inside and out and will be more than willing to talk to you about it.
Also with so many places asking for tips now, its hard to know when to tip well and who deserves it. Let me help you out, the staff are mostly younger people high school age to like mid 20s. (This is because the owner tries to give jobs to students who struggle to find somewhere that will hire them as their first job) these kids are putting themselves through college, or trade school, they have dreams of moving to their own apartments and being able to afford them, etc. These are the people who deserve tips without a doubt. So if you can afford it, just click that 15% button and know that its going to people who will genuinely use it!

Honestly, I’ve seen some boba tea shops that had drinks double the price that just weren’t nearly as good. The bambu staff is also fairly heavy handed with the toppings (trust me, that extra .50 cents for your fav add-in is so worth it)
Also, one of my favorite things is their rewards program. You actually earn rewards and real discounts! This isn’t starbucks folks. You don’t have to buy 8000 frickin drinks just to earn a free add-in. You can earn free mochi cupcakes and a free large upgrade on your drink!
Bambu is also involved in the community here in Tacoma and is available for catered events and holidays like the much anticipated lunar new year celebration and halloween when they encourage all ages to show up all dressed up and snap a pic with their drinks
The space itself is so well kept and clean. The kitchen area is honestly one of the cleanest I’ve seen and you better believe that staff is wiping down counters, floors, and doing dishes every chance they get!
The ingredients are fresh and tested for freshness every morning before opening. I have never felt there was a risk of any old, moldy, or expired ingredients making their ways into my drinks or food.
Overall, bambu is the kind of place that makes you feel like a kid again. There is no leaving the store without a smile on your face and I swear your eyes will light up like a cartoon character when you try the drinks

*special note: Although bambu is a chain, the owner of this specific Tacoma store is a ridiculously nice, hardworking, dedicated lady who is often behind the counter or working in the back alongside her staff. I see her put in so much effort to create this happy place for people and Tacoma is so much better as a community with her as a part of it. If you see her, be sure to say hi 🙂

1st time here I got the passionfruit milk tea and it was SUPER tart sour with regular sweetness. I couldn’t really enjoy it but I like that they use real fruits. Also tried the macarons from Macadon (seattle) they have a good selection of flavors. I would try another flavor tea again though just to see if it seals the deal.

Bambu is a franchise that can be found in other areas. they serve a variety of Boba/Tapioca drinks and smoothies. they serve snacks as well, although dumplings are available, they only serve them during the weekends.

A great spot for some Asian fusion deserts, snacks, and drinks. Staff are friendly and fast when making your order. This place will not disappoint, especially if you and your company are looking for a place to make a quick Pit spot to get refreshments.

Bambu Tacoma is my new favorite spot! The menu has a variety of offerings with most ingredients made in house. We ordered milk teas with boba and an ube waffle. It was the best coconut milk tea I have ever had, hands down. The ube waffle was amazing and had just the right amount of chewiness. The atmosphere was friendly and casual. Bambu’s menu had gluten free and dairy free options. Highly recommend!
