The food was excellent. The French toast was easily one of the best I’ve had, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The buttermilk pancakes were fluffy and buttery, and the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs was outstanding.
The reason for four stars instead of five is the service. It was inattentive and at times rude. I had to ask three times for cream for my coffee and waited about 10 minutes, by then the coffee was warm instead of hot. It was never refilled either, which defeats the purpose of advertising bottomless coffee. We also had to grab syrup and butter from another table after requesting them multiple times.
The biggest surprise was the orange juice. We were asked for drink orders before seeing the menu and assumed it would be the typical $2–$3. Instead, we were charged $11, which felt excessive, freshly squeezed or not.

This is one of my favorite breakfast meals that I’ve ever had! I ordered the eggs with hash Benedict and a choccy chip pancake. The service was great and I plan on coming back!

Really good service!!! No wait, both times I’ve been, however, I’ve seen people waiting outside for a table. Yummy food! The Moroccan eggs were fantastic! The omelets are good, so are the eggs and steak tips!!
Went back another time! My partner had the Moroccan eggs, I had a bacon/mushroom omelet and we shared the raspberry French toast with vanilla cream!! So delicious!! Great service!!

This was incredibly easy to give a 5 star, here’s why.
We got two plates, the “Fit for a King or Queen” and a Make-your-own breakfast sandwich with grilled mashed potatoes on the side.
Here’s everything you need to know: the bacon melts in your mouth and is absolutely delicious. The grilled mashed is a staple here, it’s buttery and addictive. They have great gluten free options including pancakes, English muffins, and toast. Everything was amazing and I’ll be back soon.

Ball Square Cafe does not miss. I’ve been here 7-8 more times since the original review, 10/10 every time. This is my go to brunch spot, especially when it comes to gluten free options.

Ball square cafe not only has great breakfast. Try the catering service. Mike came to Gloucester took care of everything from setting up to delivering hot delicious food. Chicken Ala Rosa, eggplant rolatini, calzones, pizza, sausage meatballs salad bread butter. We had plenty of food. We brought the left overs to our local police station. Mike I’m so happy you kept your mom’s Chicken Ala Rosa when I lived in Somerville that was my favorite. Your the best!

I’ve been to many breakfast spots across Massachusetts, and Ball Square Café is by far the number one! The food is absolutely delicious — everything tastes fresh and perfectly prepared. The pancakes are out of this world, fluffy and full of flavor.
If I could give them more than 5 stars, I definitely would. This place has officially become my go-to spot for breakfast. Without a doubt, the best place in Somerville!

First time coming here and it will not be my last! This clean cozy cafe has everything you need for a nice brunch! Service was efficient and amazing! I ordered the meat lovers omelet and the waitress recommended the grilled mashed potatoes and THEY WERE OUTSTANDING!! I am now hooked. Their hot chocolate was tasty too! I enjoyed everything on my plate! I will be back!

Todd was the server today. He was the only one serving all 5 tables but surprisingly it didn’t feel that way. He greeted us as soon we came in and offered drinks right away. He was genuinely nice, engaging, funny, enthusiastic, present and gave great recommendations. He made it a great experience for us. I will be back again just because of him. He works Fridays :). The food is pretty good too. A variety to choose from. I like that they have house made orange juice, Cornbread, fresh fruit toppings, and real maple syrup. It’s the little things that set them apart. And portions are definitely larger than other places.
