Take note that it’s conveniently located near Chinatown. After trying to go to two other spots, I ultimately decided to visit Bakers Daughter. Although it was a Saturday, there was still plenty of space for someone to enjoy a drink and a bite. I managed to do some work on my laptop comfortably in the quiet ambiance. I ordered the strawberry matcha & avocado toast & it was delicious!

Baker’s Daughter is an easy and convenient spot for an early breakfast, especially if you’re looking for a quick stop in the city. The space is bright and welcoming, with plenty of seating to relax and enjoy a quiet morning. The coffee was just okay, and the Earl Grey tea leaned a bit bland. The egg sandwich looked hearty but ended up being on the dry side. Overall, it’s a decent place for convenience and atmosphere, though the food and drinks could use a little more punch.

Visited Baker’s Daughter Café and tried the baked egg with vegetables and the egg & avocado sandwich. The sandwich was delicious (5/5) – fresh and flavorful. However, the baked egg didn’t quite hit the mark for me (1.5/5). The café itself was clean and cozy, with a nice shuttered design. Ordering was easy.

Love their breakfasts. They have good sandwiches and food. I also like their coffee.
It’s a good aesthetic in the lovely Eaton hotel.
The staff is always very friendly even though their customers can kind of suck because they’re all tourists visiting DC in this twisted time in the city.
Would recommend the shakshuka or the breakfast sandwich.

I stayed at the Eaton hotel and had a breakfast package, which is why I tried Baker’s Daughter. It has a cute atmosphere. The market is not a market (I don’t think that marketing is accurate). Their latte and matcha were nice. But the thing that really gave me a chuckle was how they have somehow managed to make food that neither offends or wows. It is just food, no real flavor. It’s not nasty, maybe dry, but mostly flavorless. Otherwise the service was fine and it is conveniently located. I have more credits for this cafe and Michele’s but I don’t know if it’s worth it to save coin or prioritize my time and go to a better resteraunt nearby.

Ate here for free since I stayed at the hotel. Food was good, but they had 100 metal knives and 0 forks. I had to use a tiny baby plastic fork to eat and cut everything, and ended up accidentally cutting the fork because it was so flimsy and got under my knife. Ended up with microplatics everywhere and threw away the food. Btw I asked for a metal fork and they didn’t have any. Extremely weird since they have 100 of every other metal utencil.

I had the pesto chicken with red onion sandwich and it was ok. 3 of five stars. I couldn’t taste the basil pesto flavor I was craving and the onions were cooked vs raw so I didn’t get that crunchy raw and fresh bite I thought it would have. The chick pea salad was good, but the sandwich fell flat.

So why five stars vs three, the guy behind the counter that took my order is awesome. He is friendly, inviting and welcoming.

I just left the dentist which means I was drained and I’m a stressed mood. His ability to welcome people got me leaving in a happy mindset. That is a rare trait and a five star experience.

The lavender cold brew ($5.50 plus tax) was an interesting and unique take on a coffee drink. The syrup at the bottom is quite sweet and could have been better tempered by a stronger brew and less ice. The banana bread ($4) was soft and moist. This place is fairly busy so there can be a slight wait for orders.

The avocado toast is my favorite item here! The staff are super friendly, and the atmosphere is excellent. On a nice day you enjoy the open air seating while having a meal.

This Baker’s Daughter should be a 4.5. It’s nice to have a coffee shop/café in the Eaton DC since that means you don’t have to leave the hotel you get a nice breakfast or lunch. The coffee and tea options are also good although the coffee could be better and the tea options were so-so. The seating is nice and pretty plentiful for such a small shop although more would be better. The avocado toast as well as the salmon avocado open face sandwich with an egg were delicious. Might be nice if there was a time limit as there are many people who use this as a true coffee house and hang out for hours which could make seating a problem for hotel guests. Definitely worth a visit residual if you’re staying at Eaton DC.
