We decided to make a fun day trip to the central valley from the Bay area. If you have never been to Oakdale, it’s the “cowboy capital of the world”. Don’t worry the city is very modernized. Be sure to check out the Cowboy museum and then a delicious meal at Backwoodsburgers afterward. I’m definitely coming back to check out one of the Rodeos.

This place had awesome food! Staff was helpful and friendly. I appreciate that they were able to modify the order with ease, which is extremely helpful for those with dietary restrictions. Restaurant was clean. Not a very cozy place, since it is just tables with hard seats and no booths. We actually showed up near the lunch rush and decided to skip, because it was so crowded and there wasn’t anywhere to sit! We came back a week later around 2pm and there was plenty of seating, even though they still had plenty of customers. They do a ton of takeout business, so, if you’re going to come during meal rush, you can still use this option if you can’t find a seat.

Overall 10/10, the service was amazing and so was the food. My fiancé and I enjoyed everything we ordered and the orange cream slushie was fantastic. We will definitely be back!

I been coming here for a while now and so far it’s the best burger joint in the Central Valley I’ve been too. My favorite is the Big Kahuna burger with everything in it and a side order of garlic fries. Favorite spot not to far from home.

If you love big portions, burgers, and salads this is the place for you. I went with a chicken cobb salad and it didn’t disappoint with the chipotle ranch.

You order at the counter and need to make a guess how food and service is gonna be because you leave the tips right there. A complicated decision on an empty stomach. The service was good, food came out fast. The atmosphere is great. Good selection of beers, they have local brews too. The Tumbleweed burger was a bit dry but well constructed. Where else can you find a $12 burger in a decent establishment nowadays? We stopped on the way out of Yosemite and it was a good decision.

I found this hamburger gem in Oakdale, where I rarely go to eat. Looked up restaurants in Oakdale and found Backwoods Burgers. It was the best hamburger I have eaten in years. Fries were delicious. We will definitely be back.
