The Back Street Pub hasn’t changed in over twenty years, thank Glob for that!
The bricks are still uneven, the vestigial bakery oven still rests in the corner like a Paleolithic artifact, and the flags above the bar are still fluttering stories only the regulars understand. The tree out back is the only thing that’s grown, offering even more shade to an already perfect brick-lined yard.
What has stayed the same is the heart of the place: the people. The staff has always been friendly, and the current crew carries on that same easygoing, welcoming vibe. No pretense. No polish. Just a place where conversations are real, and time slows down.
You can’t franchise this kind of soul. You don’t copy it, and one simply keeps coming back to it.

I don’t know what to say really I just really enjoyed this little pub. Met some fantastic people there, dogs are welcome, they have a incredible outdoor seating area and a small music venue upstairs that looks pretty amazing too. Drinks are cheap and services good.

Are you looking for a fusion of Biergarten + Dive bar? Well this is the best spot for that this side of the Mississippi. Awesome people in an awesome bar. Everyone we so welcoming, we had a big group and just jumped right in! I can tell a place like this really gets going with the right people. Oooo I almost forgot. Free soup Fridays at 5!

Extremely unprofessional experience. The service was poor, and the owner’s behavior toward customers was inappropriately disrespectful. There was no accountability or effort to fix the situation. Definitely not the level of hospitality you’d expect.

A must visit! Service is great with friendly bartenders. Cold beer, and reasonable drinks! Atmosphere is cool even on the slow days. You can feel the rich history of this little town when you visit Backstreet Pub!

LOVE this place! Great local bar. Wonderful bartenders every time I visit. Great beer selection. Warm fire when it’s chilly. Interesting locals to hang with and get to know. Great location.
We visit this place EVERY time we are nearby.
Stopped in last weekend (we are down here annually in February or March) and had a great time. We were there Friday and Saturday nights. Great crowd. Great beer selection. Great bartenders. Saturday night they had a really good cover band out in the courtyard. We never miss stopping here when we are close.

One of our very favorite spots on the NC Coast
If you’re in Beaufort don’t miss out on this little hidden gem.
Places like this are becoming so incredibly rare these days
AND, they work so hard to bring in some of the best music in the southeast through the summer and weekends.

This is a unique hole in the wall pub that looks like it was at one time somebody’s backyard commercial garage. In the corner they have a spiral staircase that takes you upstairs to it attic bar that also has an outside deck and stairs to a courtyard.
Check out the functional library they run in the Attic bar. And all sorts of maritime paraphernalia from ships and boats.
Feels more like where the locals hang out as it’s kind of on the back street not the front Street where all the tourists traps are.
Just beer wine liquor no food.

We went on a Sunday night so it was very quiet but we still really enjoyed it. The bartender was great and really cool atmosphere. I would definitely return if I ever find myself back in Beaufort.

This place is the best. So many people to meet and share stories with. The staff is always fun and engaging, and for the price you can’t beat it.
