Wow! We have lived in Hague for several months and just visited Backdraft the first time today. We are sorry we waited so long. The food was fabulous. The hostess and server went out of their way to answer our (many) questions and make us feel welcome. I had the Triple Decker Reuben with onion rings and my husband had the Seafood Sampler with cole slaw. Everything we had was amazing. Sadly, I went for the Banana Split…but did not have room after the sandwich. Guess we will have to go back…a few more times to try some other dishes! Good job, Backdraft staff! You made our first visit extremely pleasant.

I had a great time here, meeting an old friend. Kinda crowded on a Saturday afternoon, with only one server and a bartender, but the service was friendly and drinks came fast. Food was very good and timely. Nice selection of drinks. Very cool place.

Second time was a charm. Staff was great. Not rushed to leave. Hot dog was tasty. Drinks were good. Will return.
Also with first review, I got an immediate response from them and they wanted to correct things. Impressed.
The lot was full so my daughter was excited to try it. Walked in and was shocked that they had a smoking section. Didn’t even know they were allowed. Sat in the non-smoking section but could smell the smoke when the door opens. Ordered burger and tator tots. One not cooked other was burnt. Burger was ordered as medium and received raw.

If you’re looking for the local bar… you found the place! The best around with the drinks AND the food. I loved their Cobb salad and the black smoke burger. My boyfriend got “the fully involved” burger and he also got medium rare. This time I got the burger and ordered medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. It’s so so good and no one compares to the atmosphere if you are looking for a good lunch or dinner.
Ps. Their wings are to die for!! They are so fresh it’s insane!’

We stopped up here one day for the first time, while in the area, for food and drinks, as we were going to Callio to watch the play Clue, we enjoyed our time here very much. We split a Rueben, which was one of the best Reuben sandwiches we’ve probably ever had, even beating 58 Deli in Va Beach. and I’m glad we split it because it was very filling. Mike, the bartender was outstanding, very friendly. Told us a bit about the area as we live in Kilmarnock, and we’re not familiar of those surroundings at that time. We will definitely be back.

I have to give up on this place. When we moved here a year ago I was excited to have a local place close to our home. It was great. But the last 3 times (over a period of about 6 months) we have been very unhappy with service. The staff is lovely but we ordered to go one night and waited over an hour for the 2 club sandwiches. We decided to sit and eat the next time so we wouldn’t wait so long but it actually took over an hour to get our food that evening and it wasn’t busy. This time I called in one club sandwich to go and they said 35 minutes. I waited 35 minutes (so I didn’t have to sit and wait like usual)and when I got there to pick it up, I opened it and the tots were cold as was the sandwich. I don’t know why this is such an issue. We had work done on our house and the workers went for lunch. They said it took 2 hours.
It’s a good little place but they need to really look at order to table time.
It’s a shame that the owner’s response was to say they’re not for everyone rather than working to rectify the issue. I think it’s safe to say that waiting between 1 and 2 hours for food only to have it come out cold, is not for anyone. Looking at MANY other reviews, I am not the only one that finds the wait time ridiculous and before she can say anything about how it’s made to order, I would think if that was a viable excuse, food would come out hot. Listen to the consumer.

I’ve had a few great experiences here, and a few not so great. Will I be back? Maybe. The food is normally pretty good. Last time, we got the seafood platter and I was extremely sick after, which I normally have a pretty tough stomach. My husband was fine, but something didn’t go over well for me. We also had some service issues our last visit where the tables near us who came in after, were getting closed out before we even saw our food. It was a busy night, but always aggravating seeing tables of 4 get their food and closed out before a table of 2 when they came in after (same server).
