Used to play softball there ,just out of high-school. Drinking age was 18. Played there into my 40s. Haven’t been back in 26 years. I was in the area. And thought I would try lunch. I think there’s still a touch of the 70s in there. Much fresher and nicer than my last time in.

Quick and easy meal while working in the area. Got the wrap and a gyro – very tasty and recommend the tots if you like Taco Johns potato ole’s!

Sometimes the food is great but most times it’s inconsistent. Service is good but slow. The furnace system was loud and a patron pulled the filter out and it was caked in dust. The server explained that this had happened a year ago but there were no filters in stock. Then I looked up at the ventilation system throughout the bar and noticed that there vents were also caked in dust. Ish

Sunday breakfast at back to the SRO.
Corned beef hash ( I suspect it was canned), but nice portion and good crust on it, huge portion of buttery hash browns and perfect sunny side up eggs.
Breakfast bagel with hashbrowns.
Service was good.

As a fan of Bar Rescue, we hit locations when we can, yesterday myself and my daughter hit this place. I don’t recall the episode and what he did other than name it oddly, don’t disagree with naming it back.
That being said, it’s a typical dive bar (not meant meanly, just sayin) old building, old decor, etc…but I have to say, the softball leagues are fun, we watched a bit after dinner for funzies…and the Philly Cheese Steak is one of the best I’ve ever had, seriously. Server was fun and friendly, the Trump Shop out front and conservative messages inside were awesome.

Absolutely live this place!!! It is a staple in my life! I have been going here since I was kid to watch my dad throw horseshoes and hang out with his buddies. Staff is amazing and dedicated to their profession. The food is probably what brings a lot of people in, it is definitely homemade. Would recommend this establishment to anyone and everyone! Thanks for keeping the American Dive bar alive!!!! You guys are saints!!!
