Brisket, ribs, a full bar, outdoor patio, friendly service, locally owned — should we keep going?Back Forty, a term used to describe the back forty acres of cattle ranchers land is a local restaurant founded in historical Smithfield in 2013. We chose this old feed store building because we love the agricultural history of Smithfield now known as North Richland Hills. We feel that the new Tex Rail train and having our restaurant on the corner gives the location the same small-town feel it used to have.BBQ is as important to Texas as its history. We put the same amount of care into curating our bbq as we did in choosing the location. Our prime brisket and other meats are smoked low and slow on post oak along with our home-cooked si…

I got the “small plate” with lean brisket, jalepeño mac n cheese, fried okra, and a watermelon sweet tea to drink. Everything was phenomenal. I brought my dog with me and ate on the patio. One of the nice ladies inside offered and brought a big bowl of water for him, although, he was more interested in the brisket and okra No complaints! Everything was fantastic!

Just went here with my job for a company lunch. Walking in the atmosphere is pretty chill at lunch. No wait time to get served. All of us got our food very quickly and was delicious. I ordered the brisket nachos with everything on them, and a small fry. Nachos are a different style of chip thats pretty delicious. I would come up amd just order a bag of em if you could? Food presentation for the nachos made people regret not ordering them. Not too heavy. Also not a light meal either. Love the food. Will bring some friends up here sometimes.

Man, this is TEXAS! BBQ so good, the old-timey sweet smokey way! Fresh soft bun. Sides & cobblers cooked perfect. Ice cold tap Shiner Bock is so refreshing! Thanks, Back 40!

Missy and Marc were fantastic to work with. They were recommended by another person and they did not disappoint. Their Turkey was so moist, even as left overs! Their brisket was the rave of the party! They catered, they came well prepared, on time and great food.

Highly recommend!

Great food, however the music sucks. Turn on some true Texas country Red Dirt, not that pop country BS, however, good price. Great food, Definitely worth it.
Music and atmosphere is a three for now.

Great response, love it, thank you! If you’re new to this place, just try it! It’s awesome! All stars are 5 for the great response!

Classic Texas BBQ spot. Solid brisket baked potato, burger, jalapeño sausage, etc!

If you’re in the area, this is a solid stop. Prices aren’t exactly “value” but for the quality I’d call it fair. About $50 for 3 people to eat lunch with an entree and sweet tea each.

Such a great spot for BBQ in DFW! We had a large crew come dine in the restaurant, and every employee was kind, attentive, and accommodating. We had called our orders in ahead of time and they were more than happy to help us with every aspect of the order and were even understanding and able to adapt to our fickle schedule. They were quick to help get us everything we needed and made sure nothing was missing by the time my crew of 17 came in for their lunch. Not to mention the BBQ was delicious! Everyone was happy and satisfied with their meals!

Just got food Togo looked at menu before I went the sandwich looks so big and good on the picture when I got it they were so small and i asked for moist are lean they should say fat meat or lean because it was all fat I didn’t know that moist meant all fat because that’s what it was and my wife found two hairs in her meat that’s fat in the picture and the sandwich’s were over 10$ a piece I wouldn’t say the staff was rude but out of touch it wasn’t busy but they seemed like they could care less about customers the cobbler looked really good I didn’t get any but I guess I should have just made a meal out of that I’m a older person I guess food and service just isn’t the same as it used to be back in my day and it’s a shame
