Let me start by saying I wish we had this restaurant in San Francisco! The food was absolutely delicious, and I highly recommend ordering everything I’ve posted in this review. I can’t wait to come back and try more items. If I had to choose favorites, they would be the cauliflower, chicken schnitzel, and the fried chicken sliders- but honestly, everything was amazing. Also, a special shoutout to Liz and Tyler for their great service. Thank you for making our first visit so memorable!

I’m only in town for a week, but I want to come back tomorrow and try the whole menu!
Food is served tapas style and brought out as prepared.
ORDER THE SEABASS!!!! Matter of fact order 2! Crispy skin, flaky fish on a bed of tarragon aioli ! 10/5
Tripoline pasta: I’m not a high pasta girly. But the server kept saying it was his favorite when I would ask about others. So let’s do it! 5/5. Not traditional flavor. The almond and cilantro with a tiny hint of spicy!
Tuscan kale salad: 5/5 good! That’s it that’s all. Order it all!

Heard another table telling another table they had to order the bread pudding. I was already busting out of my pants. Sooooo “Can I get it to go?” …after getting back to my hotel, snuggled into bed to eat my dessert. I found a bowl of undercooked soggy white bread, not even a brioche, challah. This had to be made from wonder bread and regular milk not even condensed sweetened. Awful.

Coziest patio with lots of heaters and smooth pop playing!

This was my second time visiting Bacari in Playa Del Rey and I was once again blown away! The atmosphere in this place is outstanding, from the gas fire lamps and string lights, to the throwback songs playing over the speakers and unbelievably accommodating waitstaff that brought us complimentary champagne with floating rose petals. You can’t find a better spot to eat walking distance from the beach here!

For the most memorable experience, I recommend arriving just before sunset to enjoy both the golden hour glow and the night time lighting in this outdoor space. Dishes are best split between a group of people so you can enjoy multiple items since they serve a more tapas style instead of a full meal per plate.

We ordered the crudo to start, which was a significant amount of fish, thinly sliced and covered in a tart, lemon salsa that reminded me of the chunky texture of chimichurri, though not as oily. The thin slices of lemon on top added an extra pop of acidity with each bite that wasn’t overpowering.

We also enjoyed the crispy pork belly that was cooked in a savory, umami sauce until caramelized. The flavor went deep into the meat, so it was probably marinated for a long time as opposed to just tossed in a sauce at the end. It paired well with the large portion of mujadara lentil and basmati rice pilaf we ordered, though keep in mind this dish is extremely filling. The crispy shallots on top added a great contrast to the warm, creamy texture of the pilaf, and the lemon’s bright flavor lightened the flavor palette despite the hardy ingredients. We even mixed some of the leftover pork belly sauce with the rice and it was delicious!

For our veggie, we ordered the brussel sprouts, which were perfectly crispy all the way to the center, almost as if they were able to separate all of the layers for maximum crisp. The chipotle sauce on top was creamy and slightly spicy, but not overbearing. Sometimes restaurants make the mistake of drenching charred vegetables like this with too much sauce, but they nailed the proportions.

Lastly for dessert we ordered the malabi, a rosewater custard with coconut, hibiscus, and pistachios. The custard wasn’t overpowered by the floral flavor and the raw flakes were candied, so the coconut flavor really came out without needing to toast them. I also loved that the pistachios were whole instead of tiny pieces because it added a textural bite the dessert needed. My only note is that it would be even better if it had a wafer in it, whether a roll or pistachio wafers.

We went to Bacari for the first time. It was my wife and my 10th anniversary. Although the portions are extremely small, the food is extremely tasty. We ordered six different dishes, and my favorites were the scallops, shrimp, ceviche, and Seabass. The restaurant has a nice setting, although it is extremely loud and sometimes hard to hear your conversations from across the table. The bar has a nice ambience and is very nice as well, and it is extremely quiet.

Great restaurant!
We came here looking for somewhere to eat on New Year’s Eve (already anticipating a busy day and wondering if they’d have any space to accommodate us), but when we asked the host they were extremely nice and said they could squeeze us in even without a reservation. They sat us promptly and then our kind server explained the menu to us and went over what they recommend. The theme of the restaurant is small plates/tapas style and they have an array of wonderful different dishes to choose from. We opted for the ceviche, burrata caprese, shawarma tacos, fried chicken sliders, and Moroccan cigars and a few drinks for both of us. When I tell you everything was delicious I mean everything — from the drinks to the food, everything was perfectly seasoned and extremely well prepared. The server was prompt with checking in with us and we were never left wondering where they were or felt unattended — all of that paired with a cozy atmosphere and heaters made us feel welcome.
10/10 would gladly come by again and plan to!

Bacari is hands down my favorite restaurant. I love this place because it’s the perfect spot to try many different dishes and share everything. The prices are also very accessible, which makes it even better!
Beyond the food, the atmosphere is very special. Everyone is incredibly friendly and makes you feel genuinely welcome, like you’re really being taken care of.
Today we were helped by Daniela, and she was amazing. She was so attentive, gave us great dish recommendations, and kept checking in to make sure we were enjoying our experience. She really made us feel comfortable and cared for. Experiences like this are exactly why Bacari continues to be my favorite place to come back to.

The best dining experience I’ve had in a while! Bravo Bacari PDR. We made a last minute resy and were seated quickly on the patio. It was a beautiful day and we had superb service from the staff. Everyone was kind and helpful, especially Micai! Very knowledgeable about the menu and had the BEST recommendations. We shared a bunch of tapas:

– our faves: the cauliflower and broccoli! musts, so delicious
– glazed pork belly: always delicious. perfect mix of crunchy, melty, charr, sweet, savory
– sea bass: great! nice texture, love the crispiness, sauce, and perfectly paired sides
– smoked mushroom pizza- good pizza, asked for red pepper flakes to accompany
– watermelon cocktail: refreshing
– love letter: quite possible the best cocktail l’ve ever had! The perfectly toasted marshmallow taste and texture was insane when paired with the honeyed whiskey, passion fruit cocktail. So freaking good
– the best cake: how do they even get it to melt like that something I have to have every time I visit now
– bread pudding: good in its own right, but pales in comparison to the best cake

We finished our feast with lavender oatmilk lattes that were the most beautiful exclamation point on our dinner before we went to watch the sunset.

Bacari MDR helped me put together a last minute dinner party for a large party (15 colleagues and clients). Eddie and the entire events team were extremely responsive to my initial commuinications and immediately put my concerns to rest. They helped me understand the availability, food and drink options and the cost structure. It was clear they weren’t trying to nickel and dime me but rather aiming to help focus on making the process seamless and worry-free. They even helped craft a custom menu, with our client’s logo, which was a really nice touch.

Their menu allows for such a great variety of choices (hot, cold, main/side dishes and dessert) and our entire party left completely full and raving about the experience. Unlike some places that skimp out on family style portions for large groups, they served more than enough for each course. Some of the highlights were the shawarna tacos, the beet salad, brussel sprouts and the Asian Pear & brie pizza was incredible! We had someone with a nut allergy so even though I had selected a dessert with nuts, they brought out chocolate cake as an alternative.

Our server, Selah was awesome! She had a great attitude and was incredibly attentive to our large group. She and the entire staff ensured all the food and drinks came out in a timely manner. The overall vibe of Bacari is awesome! Our clients were located nearby so it was easy to get to and we sat out in the covered patio area, which was full of energy (and space heaters to keep everyone toasty). I would definitely recommend Bacari for any type of outing but especially for a large group!

We were in town for a short stay and it was my birthday so we chose Bacari for dinner since we found the menu looked like I had many vegetarian options available. There were two of us and we were greeted by Trevor who smelled absolutely wonderful! I even pointed this out to another table of two women he was serving, which made him smile. He was very helpful and said he thought we’d be fine ordering 4 plates and sharing them between the two of us. We choose the smoked mushroom & cheese pizza, the fried chicken sliders, roasted Brussels sprouts & Mac & cheese.
Pizza was delicious, no complaints. The fried chicken sliders were beautifully crusted and tasty but not a fan of the olive aioli, overpowering to me. The Brussels sprouts were very good and the Mac & cheese sauce was decadent and flavorful but I found the pasta shells to be a bit gummy and wouldn’t order again.
It was a delicious meal and drinks were great, will definitely return again when we’re in LA. Thanks Trevor!
