The best homemade authentic brazilian food around Boston area. I’ve tried several different dishes and they all taste exactly like real original brazilian food. First thing I noticed was the cleanness of the place. I definitely recommend.

TLDR: pleasant service does not make up for bland food and misleading billing. Skip this place.

Baby Beef Grille bills itself as a Brazilian BBQ and when you walk into the small ten table eatery, you see all the familiar trappings of one. It has the rotisserie style grill, the buffet table for the greens and fruit, and the drink cooler, marking it as a casual spot. There is one problem. None of this was in use. It wasn’t even near incipient use. Spotlessly clean, it sat defunct. The tables were not set with plates or utensils, and my partner and I almost left, because we assumed they just had opened up and weren’t ready for business

I wish we had.

The waitress was sweet, but seemed genuinely confused that we had sat down to eat. “How can I help you?” and “Would you like a menu?” are not questions I want to hear from wait staff. My partner and I decided on the big BBQ mix, which is billed as a mix of chicken breast, strip steaks, and sausage, with rice, beans, a salad, and French fries. It was a meal for two. We also got an appetizer of fried pork belly and plantains. The appetizer came out first. It was not pork belly. What was certainly previously frozen pork rinds were fried, with cooked, previously frozen plantins, yuca, sausage. While I enjoyed the rinds as a semi delectable, inoffensive dish, it was decidedly not what we ordered. The sausage was tasty despite itself, with a strong and unique flavor. The plantins were the best part of the whole meal. The only ingredient that had any depth or complexity of flavor, they tasted sweet and starchy, like one generally looks for in them. The yuca was pre frozen as well, clearly factory cut and breaded, and were bland and uninspired. The dish it self was cooked well. The fry was very good, the food did not taste greasy or off, which was appreciated. The main course was… Not what was advertised on the menu. While it had all of the stated ingredients, it did not remotely approach the mountain of meat in the menu, leading me to speculate that either the restaurant had used an image from internet, or from a photo shoot they took for the business proposal. Either way, it was the culinary equivalent of stealing your answers for the test from the smart kid in class, only to have your teacher ask you to explain something about them. You have an idea of what you need to say, but no context or first hand knowledge of how it all fits together.

All of the meat came from a freezer bag.

All of it.

The chicken was a quarter of an inch thick, rolled out in some factory before being brushed with fake grill marks and frozen in bulk. The steak was similarly prepared. And it was the same, tasty sausage from the appetizer. The steak was not only previously frozen, but mostly unseasoned and bland, bought from a food supplier that takes scraps of meat from the butcher room floor and glues them together. The meat was an unnatural shape and was hard to cut and harder to eat, owing in large part to the adhesive used to stich the pieces together. The chicken was somehow more bland, covered in an inexplicable layer of fat and some collegen. My partner and I could not eat them. The fries were tasty, again fried well, and the rice and beans were similarly fine. Neither of us ate the salad served with it, composed of shredded iceberg lettuce and a quarter of a cut hydroponic tomato, covered in so much pepper it was aggressively visable.

Baby Beef was a bizzare and confounding experience. The place has new or like new equipment for the thing they are purporting themselves to be, but it sits unused whilst staff serve customers dry, unflavored, previously frozen meat product prepared on a griddle. I can think of no reason to recommend this restaurant, either as dine-in or delivery, and heartily recommend you spend your money elsewhere, as the food does not come cheap at all. As my partner summed up “I could have gone to McDonald’s for the same quality and a sixth of the price.”
