The staff were friendly and easygoing, and the whole place had a relaxed vibe which made the experience even better.
If you’re into South Indian food, or just keen to try something a bit different, this place is definitely worth checking out. We’ll definitely be back to work our way through more of the menu.
When we arrived, the waiters told us they had a special menu running and that chicken biryani was the highlight. We sat down and decided to order it, but when we placed the order they suddenly told us they had run out. That was already frustrating, but we said no problem and ordered something else.
We ordered the fish thali set, which was supposed to come with rice, fish curry and several vegetable curries, along with butter chicken and naan.
The fish thali was terrible. The rice felt like it was scraped from the bottom of a pot, hard, crusty and difficult to chew. It honestly seemed like leftover rice that had been stuck and burnt at the bottom. The curry had almost no flavour, and the bowl only had two very small pieces of fish. Overall the quality and taste were extremely poor.
The butter chicken was even more disappointing. It tasted nothing like butter chicken. Instead of a creamy, rich and smooth gravy, it tasted like a thin korma-style sauce overloaded with cardamom. There were only two small pieces of chicken in it. It wasn’t creamy, it wasn’t buttery, and it definitely didn’t taste like proper butter chicken.
We also ordered three naan breads. When they arrived, they were tiny, literally about the size of a slice of pizza. Calling that a naan is honestly ridiculous for the price.
For drinks we ordered lemon soda, but there was no lemon or lime at all. Instead it tasted like some thick black syrup mixed in soda. The flavour was extremely tangy and unpleasant, to the point I couldn’t even swallow it. I’ve attached photos so people can see for themselves.
Overall this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. I’ve also attached the bill so it’s clear that this review is based on an actual visit.
Honestly, if you’re hungry, you’re better off grabbing some fruit from the Woolworths across the street rather than spending money on food like this.
The food, customer service, rich flavours, wait time, aesthetics, pricing, just love it. So authentic flavours with an overall Aussie vibe. The mysore masala dosa was our favourite.
We came all the way from Geelong for my birthday, and I must say this restaurant made our day. A must visit.
Filter Coffee could have been a little better, but everything else is just so amazing. Will definitely come again. Hopefully they keep it all the same.
A special mention to Lucy — her way of talking and welcoming customers was excellent and made us feel very comfortable. She has a very natural and friendly style of suggesting drinks; she upsells in such a smooth and pleasant way that you don’t even realise it, which shows great customer service skills.
Overall, the food quality was very good. One small suggestion would be to serve the dishes in medium-sized serving plates, which would make the dining experience even better.
Highly recommended and will definitely visit again!
The veg dishes I found was a bit of a let down sadly
The samosa chaat had chickpeas that were undercooked and flavour wise just underwhelming. While the dalh was good the other veg curries just felt flat. The idlis felt a little dense and didn’t have that spongy feel.
There were very limited entrée options available. We tried to order fish, but they didn’t have it. Biryani was also unavailable, which was disappointing.
The most disappointing part was the dosa. It came with raw batter – it wasn’t ground properly and tasted uncooked. When I asked the chef about it, he said they make it like that. That was shocking. The sambar was extremely thick, almost like pudding, and had no proper flavor. There was no taste of coconut chutney either.
We ordered mint chutney, but instead, they served a thin white yogurt mix with mint powder. That is definitely not authentic mint chutney.
Overall, the food lacked flavor and quality. The only good item was the Kerala paratha, which was decent.
We drove 40 minutes hoping for a good dining experience, but sadly, it turned out to be a complete disappointment.
Would not recommend any based on our experience never ever
We waste our money and time .
