Amazing and authentic Japanese food that isn’t only sushi.
The curry was delicious and the Okonomiyaki blew me away it was absolutely phenomenal.
Sushi is okay, but Japanese food has so much more to offer, so thank you Ba Sho for offering it!
They also have Ikkoman shochu which is one of the better Shochu’s available in the states without paying an arm and a leg.

We visited this restaurant because it was highly rated on Google and we had a craving for sushi. The atmosphere was quaint but the food left something to be desired. Our meal began with a warm hand cloth which was a nice touch. I ordered the Deluxe Lunch which is a sort of bento box with several parts. It came with a lovely miso soup that came in a clever little bowl. The salad was something from a bag in what appeared to be Italian dressing?! The beef sautéed in sweet onions, shrimp tempura, seaweed salad and dumplings were all decent but nothing to write home about.
I’m not one to subscribe to “fresher is better” when it comes to sushi, but this stuff was a little scary. It included four pieces of sashimi, two maguro and two of some sort of yellowtail. The maguro (tuna) had a hint of pickling added which concerned me that it was covering something up. I had to maintain my composure not to spit out the yellowtail. It was not a pleasant taste.
In all, this place is quaint but stay away from the sushi.

The food is amazing! I LOVE it! The staff is incredibly friendly and polite! I love going here for their Curry and Koroke a lot! I’m sure the rest of their dishes are just as amazing too! I can’t wait until I can try it when I get some new chewing teeth!

Gave this place three tries and we are just done. It seems like if you’re just ordering sushi and drinks you can get decent service but order from the kitchen and each visit we’ve waited 45min to 1hr for soup noodles a a curry dish. If the food was awesome it’d be understandable on a busy Friday night, but the food is mediocre compared to other Japanese food we’ve tried in Columbus. They weren’t even very busy the last two visits. The wait staff is friendly but there’s no excuse for consistently slow food service like that. Never again.

It’s VERY good! Delicious! You should go and order the sushi. I used to live in Japan, so I know good sushi when I find it. The restaurant is quiet. It may be awkward for Americans to eat here because it is quiet. It is a little expensive, so it is good for an occasional treat.
(Written by my student – who loves it!)

This restaurant is truly Japanese. Most of the clientele consists of Japanese expats. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. They keep it humble. I can’t say enough about how wonderful this place is. Even after I leave Columbus, I will make it a point to stop here whenever I’m in town.

Delicious authentic Japanese restaurant. The sushi and sashimi was fresh and had a lot of flavor. Attentive service. They have forks for those not to good with chopsticks. I struggled with them and somehow made it through the meal without using a fork.
Our party got many small plates for sharing. Private rooms available with traditional Japanese tables where you remove your shoes.

Went here for lunch, and it’s the first time I’ve seen this place completely dead. Service was slow, and the おしぼり were handed out by hands rather than tongs. Notice something missing from the Miso Ramen? That’s right! No egg… The broth was rich and delicious, but the noodles were a bit soggy, and the chashu was flavorful but slightly cold. Side salad was fresh, and not swimming in dressing like at other places. Sushi was good as well.

A favorite, true Japanese restaurant we’ve gone to for years. The majority of the clientele are Japanese but all are treated equally. Very nice people and the food is excellent. Owner-operated. He couldn’t say enough good things about Basho
