Sandwich-assembling cooks were not wearing hair nets/hats. Found a hair embedded in the pork of my sandwich.
Counterstaff at the Broadway location are friendlier/more attentive.
However, this review is based on the drink. We will try their other drinks next time and give comparison. One word of advice….smile! Staff works hard I know, but you still gotta give that extra effort to smile. Make the customers feel welcome. Otherwise the decor and atmosphere is very nice .
The bread itself is great. It’s flakey and has a very satisfying crunch while still being fluffy. A good baguette should always leave you covered in crumbs. We got the lemongrass beef, lemongrass chicken, and the house special. I would not recommend the lemongrass beef. It didn’t have much filling compared to the other two bahn mi’s we got. The beef was thin and also quite dry. The lemongrass chicken is the complete opposite — plenty of chicken in the sandwich and very juicy. The house special is named that for a reason — absolutely delicious and my personal favourite of the three.
We got the ube coconut coffee and pandan latte. The coffee is excellent. The ube coconut foam doesn’t mix so easily, and it kind of just settles on top of the ice halfway through. There is a lot of ice. It does make me question how much of my cup is actually coffee, but it’s so good that I’d say it’s still well worth its price.
The meatball special is simply delicious.
While not the biggest banh mi I’ve gotten around Vancouver, but it’s still a good size given the price. Should be sufficient for dinner as long as you’re not starving. I do wish they’d be more generous with the ingredients of course.
Friendly service and clean environment. Self serve order kiosks are also available if you’re not in the mood to interact with anyone, which is a plus
We’ve always loved Bale. But I have to say. This one is the best. The bread is crispy. The Veggies are plentiful and the banh mi’s are tasty. Fast polite staff. Definitely worth driving to this one as the quality is better.
She told me that the rolls were made in the morning. I came at 12:30. Shrimp and cold cuts in room temperature on hot summer days spell, food poisoning. Do better Ba Le!
High volume restaurant with great sandwiches and nostalgic taste.
Restaurant needs more to enforce delivery drivers not parking past the no-stopping sign in front of the restaurant as this disrupts right-turning traffic and is a huge safety hazard.
