Today I stopped by Azucar Bakery and Café for the first time and ordered a steak Cuban sandwich. I had never tried one before, but I had heard great things about their food, so I decided to give it a try. The café is small but cozy, and they also offer a variety of baked goods along with several breakfast and lunch options.

My sandwich was made fresh to order and served warm—it was absolutely delicious. The person who helped me was very kind and friendly, and even reassured me that I was going to like my choice (they were right!).

I highly encourage everyone to stop by and support this small business. Thank you, Azucar Bakery and Café—I’ll definitely be back for more as soon as I can.

First-Time Visit — New Hidden Gem!
Tried Azucar Colombian Bakery & Cafe today through the Too Good To Go app, and wow — what a pleasant surprise!

It’s a new vendor I’d never tried before, with a small pickup window tucked near the railroad tracks on Pembroke Road near West Dixie Highway.

I happened to be in the neighborhood, grabbed my order, and ate in the car. I also treated myself to a delicious perfect café con leche ☕. Next time I’ll get a large.

They gave me a bag of fresh goodies that was way more than expected — fresh, flavorful, and not greasy at all.

The crusts were perfect, the fillings delicious and flavorful, and I didn’t even get a stomach ache (rare for pastries!).

It’s a small, clean, family-run spot. They don’t speak much English, but my translation app worked fine and the service was warm and kind.

I’ll definitely be going back — highly recommend supporting this local gem!

Who Needs to know
In the past there were constant goof ups with the orders. Now things have changed and I’ve been ordering from this spot quite a bit. The breakfast served is really good and doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket. My daughter is a year
Old and enjoys the mango milkshake from this spot.

Do not come here — worst place ever!
The restaurant owner refused to serve us because we’re Black. We sat inside for 30 minutes without anyone asking what we wanted or even acknowledging us. Eventually, we just got up and walked out. This kind of discrimination is unacceptable.

Two things to keep in mind before you visit Azucar:

1) Either you need to be good at speaking Spanish or good at pointing at things.
2) This place is small, so don’t bring your family and expect to have a sit-down style meal. Three tables, 6-7 chairs total.

After pointing to a ham & cheese croissant sandwich, I was directed, by finger, to pay at the cash register. Neither employee appeared to speak to speak English, but we made it work. I was in their world and I needed to figure it out. The sandwich came to around $5.50.

The sandwich received the standard pressing treatment and was given to me in a brown bag. The sandwich was neatly wrapped in wax paper.

The taste was good and the flavor of the ham was more pronounced than the cheese. The flat croissant tasted good and my stomach was satisfied with the sandwich alone, so I skipped the guava pastelito. Perhaps next time.

Cozy place. Small BUT great!! The girl serving us (I guess she’s the owner?) definitely puts her heart into what she does. We had breakfast (best coffee we’ve ever tasted!). So many people coming in to take their breakfast home, or for a quick zip and delicious cuban pastry to take and continue their car drive. That tells you people love this place. 🙂

Despite the fact that the place is small, in flavor everything they do here, it makes it great! In this place I had some of the best coffees. The beef pastelito were delicious and the omelette. The attention of the employee was very attentive and the service was fast.

We had 3 breakfasts with coffee and 3 juices — total was $60 plus tip. The food was good and service was okay, but there are definitely areas for improvement:
• No visible prices
• No receipt offered
• Dine-in meals served in foam to-go boxes with plastic utensils
• No restroom available

Not a bad spot for a quick bite, but the overall experience felt a bit too casual for the price.
