It’s very cute & vibrant space with upscale Mexican dining.
We tried following dishes-
1. guac+chips – 8/10 (chips are yummy)
2. Veg tostadas – perfect crunch and fully loaded 9/10
3. Veg enchiladas with green sauce and red sauce(this is too spicy). – 7/10
4. Tres leches cake – really rich cake. A bit too sweet but yummy 8/10
5. churros – two warm churros comes with a side of vanilla ice cream scoop and caramel dipping – 7/10

I don’t usually write reviews but this place deserves a good one. Everytime my wife and I visit here, it’s always good vibes. The staff is friendly and helps you customize your order according to your likes.
The food tastes consistently great each time. And since we’re vegetarians, all of their options are veg customizable friendly.
Definitely recommend 10/10.

Food was delicious! Al pastor tacos are extremely spicy, so keep that in mind. My favorite was the carnitas taco. Also ordered Tostones with Guacamole which was amazing. Definitely recommend! I wish there was music, it would have made the atmosphere a little nicer

Came by for dinner to give this place a try and absolutely loved my experience. They had a wide selection for the menu and I very much enjoyed my meal. Started with fresh guacamole and chips done just right. The Al Pastor tacos were very satisfying with just the right amount of heat. Definitely going to bring my family here to try the other options next time.

It’s time take a drive to downtown Rutherford for a taste of Mexican cooking!
One of the coolest experiences was eating common entrees with a unique twist. Of course, I’ve had my fair share of plantains and corn on the cob. This time, I tried fried bananas with their homemade guacamole. The elote was smothered in creamy mayo sauce and topped with chili powder. Simple variations make a world of difference.
There were many types of tortillas and proteins to choose for your main course. The only problem you’ll encounter is choosing one because you’ll want them all!
The consomé sauce was the backbone to the tender, beefy birria tacos. The chicken chimichanga and Al pastor burrito were packed with so much meat, rice and beans you’ll definitely need utensils to devour these bad boys!
I highly recommend dining in to enjoy these plates in their literally colorful, vibrant restaurant. They’re also BYOB, so don’t forget your preferred vino or cerveza with your meal!

I went for @rutherford.nj__ first night of Summer Wednesdays part of Dining Out Rutherford series! @azteca_nj served delish Chorizo Queso Fundido, Birria Tacos, Steak Fajitias and amazing chimichanga (make sure to add mole sauce)! My brother’s been a chef all of his life. There was a time back in our mid to late twenties where he worked in a pub where he used to make chicken chimichangas. (Probably my most favorite food ) Fast forward 30 years, I had yet to find a place that could make one that was as good as his. Azteca in Rutherford is it! I ordered this chicken chimichanga fried with extra sour cream and salsa verde and it is fantastic! I have not ever eaten in the restaurant so I cannot comment on those items. I also have tried their burritos and they are equally as delicious. Definitely authentic Mexican food. I would highly recommend to try even if you’re out of town!
