Additionally, the cilantro was missing, but it was listed as an ingredient. The guy didn’t come back forever, so he just started eating it. When the waiter finally came, I explained it to him, and he just looked & said, ‘If we made it spicier, we’d taste the basil more!’ I’ve never heard of that, and I eat Thai food sometimes twice a week, & also make it at home using Thai recipes from a very good friend who is from that area. The curry was unlike any curry I’ve ever had, and it was actually lacking curry soup. It was very underwhelming, like the rice. The rice dish was nearly $30 – they have this priced way too high, but we don’t mind paying for good food. This was not worth it at all, and it was the most expensive in the state. Even when traveling throughout other states. I go to Jacksonville and pay $22 for great-quality beef. Highly dissatisfied with the food, wait, and service.
Update: In response to the owner/waiter’s response, I removed a star.
So you took the time to be snarky in your response about something I never even said. And, yes, I review fast. Why? What does it matter? Plus, I never questioned the authenticity. I said what your menu lists!! You couldn’t even describe your food. As a restaurant, having a party of 8 doesn’t mean I should be at your establishment for an hour for the two simple meals I ordered. Nor does it mean I should be grateful I received my food before another party, which was your only party at the time. You exaggerated a bit with the hovering… actually a lot. It wasn’t about being there; you didn’t check on us, took a while to come over, and then the food took a long time. But I guess as the customer I’m wrong here – okay, have that.
As stated, I don’t mind paying for good food and quality. I don’t, however, see the correlation with your establishment. Baitong offers a lower cost and a higher level of food satisfaction, as well as larger portion sizes. You’re just overpriced for what you get. My mentioning that I travel & eat a lot of Thai food goes to the fact that I know GOOD FOOD & GOOD THAI when I get it. What we had was very basic, and it was our least favorite from any restaurant, city, or state that we’ve traveled to or lived in. I guess I have mistaken all the other restaurants for good food, and yours should be the example? OK, have that too.
Additionally, Noom in Jacksonville only uses traditional recipes handed down through their family, making it remarkable, consistent & and more affordable, while also tasting way better. It’s owned by a husband & wife & their son helps out there. They do an excellent job with food and service- you should go try it and take notes. You’ve wasted time on a lengthy response because my experience is just that. Plus, what does the time of the year have to do with anything? Do you ASSume I’m a tourist??? I’ll have you know that I’ve ordered takeout from there before, & it wasn’t great, which is why we opted to dine in to see if the experience was different. It wasn’t. Instead of being defensive about my experience, perhaps you should consider it.
BUT, this place satisfies, not just feeds.
There were clearly available tables, yet we were repeatedly told to wait while many other customers were also standing around. The staff moved extremely slowly, and seating guests felt unnecessarily delayed.
Once seated, the service did not improve. Ordering took a long time, and the food was served very slowly as well. Overall, it gave the impression that the staff was intentionally dragging their feet rather than trying to manage the crowd efficiently.
This is not just inconvenient for customers, but also reflects poor management. I hope the owner takes this feedback seriously and addresses the service issues, because the current experience does not match what customers expect.
