Ayala’s Cafe began in 1998 as the first taco food truck in Hempstead, TX. It was named Ayala’s Taqueria after our family last name. We are proudly family owned and operated. We believe that what makes us unique is our customer service experience and definitely our great food. Our breakfast menu includes a delicious fusion of American breakfast with Mexican breakfast. Our lunch menu offers delicious Tex-Mex options and authentic Mexican food and homemade tortillas. We recently remodeled and added a coffee bar section!

A rare gem in this area! Food is freshly prepared and delicious! I had the avocado toast with a fried egg, bacon, and fresh fruit. It was perfection. Restaurant is a cozy, charming family owned business and you can tell they take pride in their restaurant. A large assortment of specialty coffees are also available. Service was fast and friendly. Restaurant was clean and decorated nicely for Christmas. It was our first time here and we will be back. I highly recommend!

You are not served what you order. Ordered a soft beef fajita taco and was brought a corn tortilla taco. The server did not visit our table again so I could let her know I received the incorrect food. The fajita meat was diced so small it looked like hamburger meat and was flavorless. The air conditioner vent was blowing right over the table and I asked to move to another table. The server looked at me like she didn’t understand. We were not offered refills on our drinks. Paid $3.99 for a glass of tea with no refills. This was a waste of money and time. Such a huge disappointment. If you want good or even decent mexican cuisine and good service, this is definitely NOT the place to go.

OMG, the food was AMAZING!!
First, the chips and salsa had fantastic flavor, and you can tell it’s made in house. My carne guisada was so tender it literally fell apart. Any my wife’s street tacos were very flavorful. The tortillas are made in house as well, and they are exceptional.
The staff was so nice and provided over-the-top service. The owner is super nice, and very friendly.
This is definitely the best Mexican food we’ve had in a very long time.
We can’t wait to come back for more. Looking forward to the chilile relleno next time…

On the drive from Houston to Austin, we didn’t pre game our breakfast. Imagine how happy we were when these home made flour tortillas were set down before us with eggs scrambled up with perfect chorizo and another with eggs Mexicana. The roasted tomatillo salsa tasted very home made, the refried beans were smoky and the hash browns had bits that were crispy mixed with cooked potato. If it’s early enough, you might luck out and get a booth on the right when you walk in. The service was friendly and great.
