I ordered a chicken salad and it was okay. Not the biggest fan of grilled chicken at restaurants because it’s either undercooked or has a weird taste. As yummy as it looked, the chicken had a bacon flavor on it, which was not yummy for me. Aside that, it was okay. The drinks were very yummy, specifically the strawberry margarita. My friends did not complain about their breakfast plates. All in the all, food was decent. It’s definitely easy to rack up a high bill here. The DJ was also on point! And they had the games on their TV, so that was nice. Parking wasn’t too terrible considering they have a lot near by.

The food is okay. The atmosphere is good for dancing to Mexican music. The service is okay. I came two times. The first time, the host never came to the door to give us a table, and we had to go to Yard House. The second time, I ordered a “Jefe Cocktail.” The menu said it would be smoked, but I got it plain. They didn’t smoke the cocktail, and it was a plain cocktail. I didn’t like it. I am not sure if I will come back.

Another great place to have a awesome date night. Service was great and the food was very tasty. No complaints at all. Live DJ music was a plus.

Nice place. The food was okay, a little pricey, but nothing special. The drinks were whatever, nothing special either. I felt rushed; they only give two hours. Once you are done, they tell you “nicely” that your time is up. The atmosphere was okay. Customer service is good.

It went from bad to worse.

I’ve been here twice. And this was the second time.
It went from bad to worse REAL quick.

This place has hype. And that’s all it is. It’s riverside.
Not many “high end” places if you can even call it that to be had. They label themselves as such and it’s far from it.
Entrance as a wannabe red carpet feeling. Not kidding there’s actually a red carpet at the door it’s super tacky.
I was greeted right away. And was shown to my seat right away. Started off decent per usual.

I was a party of 8. And had a birthday girl they knew was here as well. Ready paying customers. As a business you’d think that’s something to be grateful for, but that’s NOT how the staff felt and they will be more clear going into this.

First a two dozen oysters were ordered.
ALL sent back. Extremely watery and fishy.
THEY WERE BAD. Your establishment is going to get someone sick! BEWARE.

Since we were hungry we thought ok…. It can’t be THAT bad maybe they’ll get something else right.
So we thought…

chilaquiles
aguachiles
Steak
Pomegranate martini ( urgent care could be involved )

Chilaquiles came and the steak with it? Looked like beef jerky. Driest and old at least 4 days old steak if ever seen. DO NOT GET THE STEAK ON ANYTHING.

Aguachiles?
Actually pretty good. I can’t hate on it. This they got right. We had it with green sauce.

Pomegranate martini?
Questionable fruit used. Questionable alcohol used.
Resulting in one of our attendees having alcohol poisoning.

But let’s get into things before this all happened also.
Waitress took the orders. Never came back to check in waters or anything. Straight up disappeared.
Eventually the MANAGER had to come by and help our table. Agreed that the steak would be something not even she would eat. And that it was completely unacceptable.
Plate was returned. Brought back with new steak still the same plate of everything else ( that’s fine )
But the steak was still old, maybe a little better and extremely overly salted.

Also the birthday girl ordered pancakes. And that arrived after EVERYONE else’s food. Completely unacceptable.

Prices are completely outrageous considering the quality.
This place is all for hype and social media.
Sold to people who don’t know any better on how food is actually suppose to be prepared, made and displayed. And that’s not talking bad about the customers. This place is just a scam.
One of those restaurants that attracts photos and hype. But doesn’t live up to it at all.

With that said?
Highly recommend DO NOT GO.
This place needs to step it up. Any restaurant that is family owned and an owner isn’t present will degrade quickly. There’s a reason the restaurant business is considered one of the worst to be involved in. This place displays that.

Go at your own risk.

I was there on a Sunday around midday, and the experience felt more like a day club than a traditional restaurant. The DJ really set the tone, creating a fun, high-energy vibe that made it a great place to hang out. The open bar and drinks were solid, and there was plenty of parking, which made things easy. The interior decor was top-notch and added a lot to the overall atmosphere.
When it comes to the food, it was okay but not memorable. The flavor wasn’t bad, just average, and the food was a little cold for my taste. It’s not something I’d come back for specifically. Overall, I’d definitely recommend AY MIPA for anyone looking to have fun and enjoy the vibe, with the understanding that the food is more of a secondary part of the experience.

So the waitress stand blocks the front door. Since no one stands there and greets patrons, you can’t be seen. This means you are not greeted or seated. Big no.
The atmosphere is mostly bar.
Unfortunately the menu has recently been reprinted and the business didn’t bother to update it online. Gone were everything we had come for.
The place is loud and the DJ loves his bass. Lights flashing. They sell celebration packages so every 15 minutes they would do a whole lighted sign and sparklers celebration. It would be a neat place for a girl’s night. Unfortunately, we had had a long day, had a 3 year old with us and had believed google that this was a family friendly environment with a children’s menu and it was anything but. I had a migraine when we left because my headaches can be triggered by flashing lights.
Now servers…they must tip share…because they all serve all the tables. It meant no one person was paying attention. We didn’t have silverware or napkins even after the table side guac was delivered. I got on small drink of soda water that was never refill despite being told it would be. Chaos.
The food…here’s the bright spot…it was really good! I had a fillet steak wet burrito and it was excellent.
This place could stand on its own just for the food. Unfortunately, the atmosphere will deter regular patrons from repeating. The entire experience was gimmicky, loud, distracting.

I walked with a group of seven, and we were greeted very warmly and attended to promptly. The staff had the tables prepared and ready, providing us with menus upon arrival. Our waiter, Marco, was exceptionally kind and helpful, offering respectful and efficient service. The food was excellent; notably, one of the sauces was incredibly spicy in the best way possible, making it one of the best spicy sauces I’ve ever enjoyed in Bakersfield. The restaurant’s interior was also quite appealing. Additionally, I had the opportunity to meet the owner, who was very accommodating and friendly. The sushi was not only delicious but also came with an entertaining little show. I would definitely recommend this place.
