Thai restaurant is more than just a usual Thai restaurant. The way they served the food and the taste was more authentic than just Thai. The place has a very lovely Thai style vibes. Food was served with great service as well.

There are only a very few restaurants in the world that have truly taken my breath away. Axe Thai is one of them. Not only is the atmosphere simply special and feels like the coziest place in Bundanoon, but the food is some of the yummiest and authentic Thai I’ve ever had. We’ve been coming to this restaurant for a long time, and the food has always been wonderful. Since the change in management there have been a lot of changes, though the food quality has thankfully remained high.
That said, over our last few visits we’ve definitely noticed price increases along with smaller portion sizes. On our most recent visit, the service also declined significantly. We were simply waved to find our own seat, while servers focused on larger groups who arrived after us. They were promptly given water and cups, while our bottle was dropped on the table without being poured.
The final straw came when we received the bill. It seemed unusually high for three meals and three soft drinks, and upon closer inspection we noticed a 10% dine-in charge that had not been explained to us.
Unfortunately, because of this experience, we won’t be returning.

Delicious food just waiting to be eaten just behind that red door!
My family and I used to stop at the Jack Thai in Bowral all the time when I was a little girl. We were absolutely devastated upon finding out it had closed down. Until… I did a little research and found this place!
It had all the best things from when I was little and the staff made sure to keep the wonderful memories alive! The food was absolutely delicious and well presented. Highly recommend the saffron rice and the satay chicken sticks, so yum. Crying tiger was also really good, and must get the classics i.e. money bags and spring rolls with prawn.
The place has been taken over by new owners who were just wonderful. They are still settling in so allow extra time for food service.
If you’re on a road trip or simply in the area I highly recommend going in and getting your feed!

Food was good although the serving sizes were small for the price. I expect to pay more for wine in a restaurant, but at 250% above retail price this felt like a rip-off. Most annoying of all, and the reason for a 2-star rating, is that they charged us a 10% “dine-in surcharge” on a week night when there were only two of us. I expect this on a weekend or public holiday, but not on a Wednesday night.

Very nice Thai restaurant in a small rural town. The food was a lot better than expected however a bit too salty. The service was really good and the staff was really welcoming. I loved the sweet, salty and spiciness of the davil stir fried soft shell crab but don’t forget to add a side of rice!

The food was good but I found an ant that was alive on my tomato slice that was served with the fried rice. I was disappointed with the poor food safety but also with their customer service. The lady didn’t apologise for the ant, instead, she just asked me if I wanted to get another new fried rice. Then, when the guy brought me the new fried rice he didn’t apologise either… the whole time we stayed there they both didn’t come back to our table to see if the food was alright after the ant. But, they looked so eager to keep checking if these two white customers that were dining right next to us were alright with the food. Then, the dine-in surcharge of 10% was charged along with the ant and poor customer service. It was an interesting experience.

I’ve come to Bundanoon a few times for work, and I’m so happy there’s a Thai place here!
The menu is exactly what I want and expect from a Thai place, in terms of selection, quality, and prices. Photo below is the fresh pepper curry with fish, and a side a rice.
The decor and service are a little more upscale than usual, but in a good way! The atmosphere is lovely, the plating and cutlery are very nice, and the staff are friendly and professional.
It’s so nice to be in a small town and have more food options than just cafes/delis and pubs for food.

We ordered takeaway from AXE Thai in Bundanoon and were absolutely delighted! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared—every dish was a hit. The lady at the reception was incredibly kind, friendly, and polite, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this gem for anyone craving delicious Thai food with lovely service!
