Food is amazing, been here twice with my girlfriend and we got different dishes and appetizers each time. Everything’s always tastes unique and delicious. The spiced iced coffee tastes amazing. I definitely recommend coming in on an empty stomach as the portions are filling. Will definitely be coming pack in the future

This was my second visit to Awaze Ethiopian Eritrean Cuisine, and once again, their food did not disappoint. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, yet it’s bursting with flavor. I don’t remember the exact names of the dishes we ordered, but you can see them in the photos. The presentation was appealing, and the food tasted even better than it looked. The decor adds a nice touch to the overall experience. The service is decent—not outstanding, but it didn’t take away from the experience. I highly recommend giving this place a try!

I wish I could leave -1 star. I went here yesterday for Valentine’s Day dinner with my girlfriend. I had a 7:00pm reservation and upon arrival, we were not greeted or seated. I had to walk up to the counter and ask to be seated. There was a young lady there who was very rude and just pointed and said “you can sit over there”. We sat down for 22 minutes before a man came and asked us what we wanted to drink. During that waiting period, I saw the waitress greet and seat multiple people that arrived after us and provided them with water, wine and took their orders. I also noticed that the waitress was glaring at us a few times, which made it clear that she was aware of the poor service she provided . The environment was very uncomfortable. Once we placed our order, it took another 10minutes for our water to be brought out. The glass that was given to me had OBVIOUS lipstick marks along more than half of the rim! I believe this was completely intentional. I ended up telling them “I’m leaving” without any explanation. This is literally the worst restaurant that either of us has ever been to in our entire lives.

What can I say about Awaze Ethiopian Eritrean Cuisine? Amazing food. This was my first time eating Ethiopian food, and I was blown away. From the minute I entered the restaurant, a friendly waitress greeted me; she was extremely friendly and answered all my questions. I ordered a meat sampler and was amazed at how well the dish tasted. The spicy sauces blended exceptionally well. I also ordered the Lamb Awaze tips. The lamb was incredibly tender. It’s hands down the best food I’ve tried in NC. Take it from me: do yourself a favor and give this restaurant a shot.

The experience has been wonderful every time I visited. The food has been phenomenal. The first visit, I ordered the kitfo. It was prepared clean, and the injera accompanied and complemented it perfectly. It was my very first exposure to Ethiopian food when I had first went, and I did not know what to expect. However, after the first visit, I was very impressed and I came a second time – which is the time of writing my current review.
It’s safe to say, there was a reason I went back. I am glad I did. The service is wonderful, and they do not rush you. The presentation, as showcased in my photos, are dreamy.
I highly recommend Awaze and I am planning on coming back again!

Came to Awaze from Greensboro because we were missing Ethiopian food. The experience didn’t disappoint. Food was delicious and service was great. Highly recommend other folks check them out. For anyone that is new to the cuisine I recommend getting the platters that way you can try a little bit of everything. We normally get a veggie platter and a meat entree.

Ok place in a convenient location. Food tasted a bit bland unfortunately and service is a bit slow. It was a bit busy which I guess is understandable. The mist important factor is the food was not as good that tasty, kind of sick if flavors than what I am used to compared to other Ethiopia place. Staff is friendly though.

This small, local restaurant has some deliciously authentic West African cuisine. The service was marvelous, being friendly and quite tolerant of a boisterous group of diners. Starting with the Veggie Sambussa, a delicately fried phyllo style pastry dough filled with finely shredded veggies and spices. It is very reminiscent of Greek Spanakopita, but with different veggie/spice flavors. The injera bread tasted fresh with a thin spongy consistency and slight sour tang that provides an excellent compliment to the other dishes. If used, as intended as your eating utensil, it will definitely help you fill up fast. The Meat Sampler: Kay Wot (beef), Doro Wot (chicken), and Alecha (Beef) all have nice distinct flavors with slight varieties of spiciness. It was all very tender and the paprika herb sauce really tied it all together. Awaz’e Tibs (beef) has beef with onions, rosemary, and garlic sautéed in a delicious tomato-type sauce with just a hint of heat. The Nech Tibs is cubed beef in a more broth-like sauce that has a light beef stew flavor and consistency.
Washing it down with the spiced iced coffee and spiced iced tea polish off the meal well.

This was an absolutely beautiful dining experience! We love trying new cuisine and Ethiopian did not disappoint. The decor in the restaurant is very eclectic and lovely like sitting in the middle of the Serengeti! Lots of interesting beverages and many vegetarian options to choose from! We will definitely be going back!

Ordered Doro Wot and a veggie plate. Both were good but too expen$ive for one chicken leg and egg and the berbere flavor was slightly off. The enjere was perfect. The portions were smaller than expected.
