This place is really really nice! It’s inexpensive. The food is excellent. The service is wonderful. It’s very clean. The building is really cool. Have a look at the pics. I take it looks like something from the 1960s? And it’s spotless and they have a really cool where you drive up and I’ll bring food out to you at your car And! They have breakfast that’s actually done on a grill.

The Standish A & W was a great stop on our way to Oscoda. The chicken sandwich was tasty and the root beer floats hit the spot! Service with a smile from our waitress Katie. She was working hard and was attentive to anything we needed. We had a great experience! Thank you Katie, we will be back!

My wife and I were taking a trip home from the UP, and I wanted to treat her to some A&W, and she was game for it. And feeling nostalgic, I missed the days of the carhops on skates (even Sonic had discontinued that in the recent years with most of their restaurants), and I told my wife about the last A&W that was in Detroit and how I’d go there before going shopping at a suburban mall ten minutes from there (the restaurant eventually shut down and moved to the mall).
But seeing this restaurant in Standish, MI had brought back lots of memories. Especially the draft root beer! Nobody does it better than Allen & Wright. These are one of the few fast food franchises that will give you your money’s worth when it comes to their product! And the server? Sorry, the lady’s name escapes me right now, but if she’s up for a promotion, please consider her for it!

Went here mid day, was busy but found a spot pretty quick. Service was good and fast. We ordered deep fried mushrooms and onion rings these were really good. We also had the Coney dogs which were not good at all. For the price I would not go back.

Ate in yesterday afternoon. Rooter float is a must. I’d recommend the cheese curds with marinara sauce. Everything else we tried was nothing special. Bathrooms were immaculate. Service was a pleasure. Fun time

The chili was excellent. Plenty of meat, and good flavor. The bacon on the BLT could have cook a little longer, but still good.

Have not been to A&W in years. This one didn’t disappoint. Chili cheese dog great! The fries tasted delicious way different than other fast food places. The rootbeer was as good as I remembered. Well worth the stop. Next time we are up there we will stop for the full car hop experience. Tonight they were closing so we got our food in a bag.
