This was my first time. I’ve spent some time in the Caribbean and I love the food from the islands. I really enjoyed the vibe and the food tasted of the island but not overpowering or too hot. The coconut rice and cooked cabbage were as good as the curry and jerk chicken. Missing a star because the jerk chicken was pretty overcooked. Which was sad because the flavors were spot on and not too hot. But definitely overdone. I’ll go back.

We ordered Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken, and Chicken Wings. All 3 were flavorful and tasty. The jerk chicken was a bit too spicy for the kids. Portions are generous, we ordered the large size. The jerk and the curry both came with rice and vegetables, no plantains. The interior of the restaurant could use some TLC and organization.

I had one of the best meals of my life at Ava’s. I have never been to Jamaica, but I feel sure that I’ve tasted some of the best cuisine they have to offer. It was a great night out with my two girls. We all loved our food! We tried oxtail, jerk chicken and fish and chips. All were perfectly cooked and delicious!

I’ve eaten at Avas Island Café before and knew how good the food was. But today I couldn’t decide. So I went for the combo platter!!! It included stewed fish, fried fish, oxtails, callaloo, rice and beans, cabbage and plantain. I topped it off with a ginger beer. Excellent cannot describe how wonderful the food really is. Every time I’m in Leavenworth I visit Ava’s. I can’t wait for my return visit to do it all again. Thanks Ava and your staff for wonderful service. You make me feel like I’m in the islands again!!! “One Love”

Really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Place is a bit small but it packs a punch. I loved the curry chicken so much I forgot to take a photo(lol), jerk chicken was delicious, Patty’s and desert was good. Look forward to trying more of their menu next time I’m in Leavenworth.

This place really takes you out of the country and straight into Jamaica. The atmosphere is matched only by the service and delicious food as well! The homemade jerk sauce is some of the best I’ve ever had and the time and attention to the meals is something so good it can only be described as with love! 10/10 I will come back to Kansas just for a meal here!

Okay, so I have been first wanting REALLY good curry for awhile and asking around is Ava’s good. There were a ton of mixed options and some…hesitant answers. Nonetheless I went finally to find out for myself. Oh my goodness, definitely should have taken all those opinions to mind and listened to my first mind and not gone to Ava’s. I’m convinced Leavenworth at this point has absolutely NO good restaurants at all here. My curry chicken was rushed cooked, very bland to taste, and my rice was very dry looking and tasting. Everyone knows you cannot rush chicken to cook. It’s just gross when you do…and I got gross from Ava’s. My food did not have that curry kick in seasoning, the chicken was very tough, and I was disappointed. I threw my food away which was VERY hard for me to especially knowing the price of food these days. I do not recommend this place at all. You are definitely better off attempting curry yourself than wasting your time going here just to be disappointed . Hard lesson learned for me.
