Great spot in downtown. All the food was really good. The atmosphere is a little cold / industrial. Good vibes but metal stools/chairs with high top tables make it a spot you don’t hang out long at.
All the place settings are disposable which I think makes it feel a little cheaper, but the food was all incredible.
The house made ranch and marinara sauce were both outstanding. We tried a variety of things. Everything was great.

Loved the laid back home atmosphere and the pan pizza was excellent, service attentive and hospitable. Well done!

You can buy pizza by the slice here either Cheese or Brier Hill. It is $2.00 +tax. This pizza is delicious, I got just Cheese this time but look forward to Brier Hill next time. I have also had their salads and the Grilled cheese: all are exceptional. So good . You can get it to go or dine in. They also offer downtown local delivery for businesses near by but ask first to make sure it still available.

Let’s start with the good things: the pizza was good enough the tomato sauce was a little too sweet for my taste the crust and the toppings very good anyway. At the end of the dinner a waitress passed and left a free serving of fried dough on every table. The not so good: we got there at 5.20 pm the place was still almost empty and we placed our order right away but our pizza didn’t arrive until 5.55, we expected a bit fester service since almost all tables were still empty. The soda that we ordered came in cans, so forget any refill. The atmosphere was a little cold, the place doesn’t give that cozy feeling that we expected moreover while waiting for the pizza the TV in front of our table was set on Cspan showing the democrat party convention in Chicago: not really an exciting or entertaining view while waiting for 35 minutes, some sport event was maybe more appropriate
For the rest not too bad, we might go back again sometime

Stumbled across this place looking for late night food while visiting Past Times Arcade. There is not much after 9pm in Girard/Youngstown but Avalon is less than 15 minutes and a straight shot. There is paid street parking and a lot behind the building. They offer dine in in the bar area and take out. Prices are fair. Pizza is tasty and they offer a unique variety of options. Saturday night the bar side was HOPPING with college crowd and loud music. While this isn’t really my scene, it absolutely is for many people which is why I specialty mention it. Avoid it if you don’t like it, go if you do. They did have staff checking id’s and keeping things under control but also saw zero issues. This is the spot for local nightscene. There can be a wait for food so if you want it quickly, call ahead. They may be one of the only options available, but they’re worth checking out regardless.

The waitress was very friendly, there were 3 of us eating today. 2 of us started with wedding soup, delicious, and hot, the rest of the meals where fish sandwich and onion rings, cavatelli, cheese ravioli. Everything tasted good but all of the meals where cold. I don’t know if it sat too long before the waitress brought it. Very disappointed.

Avalon Downtown Pizza is a must-visit for pizza lovers! I recently picked up a Brier Hill pizza to go, and it was absolutely fantastic. The crust was perfectly cooked, the sauce had just the right amount of tang, and the peppers gave it that classic Brier Hill flavor.
Even though I was just grabbing a takeout order, the staff was friendly and efficient, and my pizza was ready right on time. The quality and flavor were top-notch—I’ll definitely be back to try more from their menu.
If you’re in the mood for a great local pizza, Avalon Downtown won’t disappoint!

I do want to preface and say that I’ve had Avalon pizza as takeout and the pizza was very good, so this is nothing against the food from this establishment, just the service provided.
I’m hoping the dine in experience my husband and I had was an isolated one. We decided to eat here for dinner to get me out of the house, as I’m currently 8.5 months pregnant. Upon walking in, there’s a sign with a visual prompt that reads “Please seat yourself”- self explanatory. We make our way into the dining room portion of the establishment, look around for a table (there were many that were empty), and find one to sit at. Upon going to sit down, an elderly blonde woman asked us if we have reservations, to which we stated we did not. She proceeds to inform us that we can sit at the bar, but no tables were available at this time. My husband made a good point and informed her that the sign stating “please seat yourself” should be turned around if that’s no longer the case and patrons had to wait to be seated. She immediately got defensive (and from her reaction likely took it personal) and informed him that she can turn it around for him if he desired, to which he said no, we’ve already made it past the sign and into the dining room to seat ourselves, but for future patrons, this would be helpful.
She tells us it’ll be a 45 minute wait for a table, to which I shake my head and inform her that I’m too pregnant and can’t do that wait, unfortunately. The response I received after she looked at my stomach was “yeah well, okay” and gestured to the bar.
We ended up just leaving after waiting some time to order once we were ready (we did get asked if we were ready upon sitting down but since it was our first time dining in, we needed to look over the menu). The interresponse time between the person asking upon us sitting down if we were ready to order and us leaving was a timeframe of 10-15 minutes.
Again, when I’ve had the food here before, it’s been wonderful. This review is really more so about the service and attitude we received from one specific worker, who I’m sure was having a rough night with it being a busier time of year. Unfortunately, this experience negatively shaped our view on dining in at this establishment in the future. I do hope this is an isolated perspective and experience, but it made a lasting impact on our impression of Avalon, and I did believe a review was warranted due to this.

Visiting for a show from out of town and I will definitely go back. Not quite a pan pizza but not quite traditional either. Crispy crust and a nice even bottom. Great cheese blend, sauce and the Hungarian peppers bring it on home. I highly recommend it.
