After all of our adventures during the day, my husband were quite hungry. We enjoyed dinner at this very special little place. Authentic Flavors is attached to the proprietor’s home, and feels like you’re their honored guest. The families’ children may come visit and chat with you, and the family dog will likely wonder through at some point, hopeful for tourists to help it become nice and chunky! The restaurant is a covered outdoor seating area with an eclectic selection of Mayan and Creole pieces of art as well as beautiful plants. We highly recommend the Seaweed Shake, which tastes like a sweet, light, roasted peanut butter shake with an interesting texture. I had the conch curry, and very much enjoyed the curry flavor laden with flavorful vegetables as well as conch. Belize has this beautiful blend of Central American and Cajun influence, and this food epitomized that uniquely wonderful blend. The ladies who run the restaurant also are a beautiful reflection of the warm hospitality and laid back ease of the cultures, and we greatly valued this special experience!

This place truly feels authentic in that it looks like someone turned their home into a restaurant and decided to cook delicious homemade recipes for customers. The food was stellar. Everyone in my group loved their items, especially the Pibil Burger ($8 USD) and Creole Shrimp ($12.50 USD). The Pibil Burger had the toastiest, most flavorful bun I’ve ever tried and the Creole Shrimp’s curry was seasoned to perfection. The portions were also fair (see photos) and the prices were reasonable.

The service gets 4 stars because it took insanely long to get the food and our bill. We had to urgently leave because we didn’t expect the service to take so long which bled into plans later in the night, and it took about 5 minutes to get our check after inquiring. Service was very, very friendly though.

Atmosphere 4 stars because while it looks authentically out of someone’s home with cute decor, the restroom was dark and scary so no one in my group wanted to use it. The couch at one of the tables looked like it hadn’t ever been washed, and if you sit there you can hear little kids inside playing and watching cartoons which can be a little distracting if you’re conversing. I put 4 stars cause I didn’t mind this stuff too much, but I’m sure others may.

Overall please go here! I’d recommend in the daytime though because the drive feels a little odd to go through neighborhoods at night and like I said the restroom looked dark and dank at night. Food is SO worth visiting and it’s nice to show the locals some love!

1000% would recommend this charming delicious restaurant!!! The food was beyond any expectations, I had the coconut crusted chicken with chocolate sauce and have never experienced such a unique and flavourful meal. It was well balanced and feel-good and cooked to perfection. If you’re ever in Belize this hidden gem is not a place to skip out on!

I unashamedly dined at this restaurant 3 times in a row! This restaurant lives up to its name, the local dishes were so warming and delightfully delicious. Chef Ivy pours a lot of love in her dishes and you can taste it. Top it off, her co-pilot, Sahardia bright smile makes you feel right at home. I will easily come back to San Ignacio just to dine here again.

tip: order in advance via whatsapp if you want your food promptly as everything is freshly made.

We loved everything about this hidden gem! Very unassuming from the outside, but once you walk in it’s like you feel at home. The food was the best we had in Belize, you can tell they make every plate fresh and with love. While the food does take a little longer to prepare, it’s more than worth the wait – we came here 3 days in a row and every meal was 5 star. If you are visited Belize, do not miss out on Authentic Flavours.

Phenomenal! I got the coconut crusted chicken and it was one of the best meals I had while in Belize, which if you’ve eaten here you know that’s a big feat. Amazing place, super cute dining area and the service was awesome. I’d also recommend the Belizean coffee as it was like no coffee I’ve ever tried and some of the best. They also had a lot of vegetarian options and some vegan as well. Overall I’d recommend this to everyone:)

Amazing food, I went here twice in a week and it’s been the best food I’ve had in San Ignacio. Way better than all of the other restaurants with over 1k+ reviews. Don’t waste your time at other tourist traps, eat here instead. The food is so worth it. We had the grilled fish tacos (ITS WAY BETTER THAN YOU THINK), curry-butter chicken, stewed chicken and stew beans, coconut crusted chicken with chocolate sauce, and local wines. Try here. Do not miss. EAT AT THIS PLACE. FANTASTIC FOOD AND NICE PEOPLE

Really good authentic Belize food. Really kind staff. They even helped us get home.

It took a bit long before food was served, but that is only because they cook everything fresh. Can recommend to go there.
Good prices aswell.

Loved this place! The food was very good! The prices for most dishes were only a bit higher than an average cheap roadside kitchen but the quality and presentation were that of a high quality (and MUCH more expensive) restaurant. Very affordable and more than worth the price.

I loved how they had food offerings from all of Belize’s different cultures on one menu. I loved even more how they took that same inspiration and created some of their own unique recipes (both food and drinks) and it all turned out delicious! Our table got some Mexican/Belizean staples (tacos, salbutes, etc), the coconut battered fried chicken, the pibil burger, and fried chicken with beans and rice, plus several homemade juices. It was all SO good! The beans and rice were the best I’ve had so far in Belize – the fresh coconut flavor really pushed them over the top. And the spices sorrel (hibiscus) juice was so nice and refreshing.

The server was excellent, so friendly, worked hard to please. Very willing to share about their family’s efforts to make great food and drinks and striking up a casual conversation with him was easy and enjoyable. The chef came out later to check on us, also very friendly. Not a crowded place, but some regulars came and you could tell they were enjoying themselves. The ambience is fun, definitely felt like (and literally was) being invited to the outdoor patio next to the kitchen of your friend who loves to cook. Don’t let the fact that it just looks like a regular house throw you off. Inside was an eclectic mix of fun and sometimes unique decorations.

Well worth the visit and my favorite restaurant experience in Belize so far! If I were staying longer in San Ignacio area I’d eat here many more times. If I’m ever back in the area, this will be the first place I eat again!

I just ate at Authentic Flavors tonight and it was an incredible meal. I had the butter chicken curry and it was 10/10. My sister got the fried chicken and my dad got the pork burger, both said their meals were 10/10. I highly recommend anyone who wants delicious food and lovely experience to eat here.
