AustIndia Bar and Restaurant exceeded my expectations. The chickpea curry was hearty and flavorful, the chicken in creamy tomato gravy was cooked to perfection, and the naan was soft with just the right amount of char. The drinks added a refreshing touch. Wonderful experience overall!

I ordered the Amritsari kulche, and being an Amritsari who has eaten kulche all my life, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment and did not come close to authentic flavors or texture. That said, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming.

I’ll just say that the food was decent – not bad but not great either. The portions for apps are not a lot, could barely be enough for two people. The only pros were the quick service and the vibes of the bar were not half bad. I wouldn’t go here again for the food as it’s lackluster at best. I’m not sure about the drinks this is a food only review.

Tried out AustIndia in North Austin today for a little lunch/brunch and honestly, I was impressed. It’s a bar/restaurant setup with a really nice interior, clean vibe, and plenty of parking (always a plus in Austin).

We didn’t go too heavy on food since it was lunch, but ordered the kebab platter, a kulcha, and a naan. The kulcha was outstanding—soft, flavorful, and just perfect. The kebab platter was the highlight: sizzling hot when it came out, beautifully presented with grilled onions, peppers, and cabbage. The mix included fish, goat kebabs, and two types of chicken kebabs—juicy, tender, and full of flavor. Honestly, one of the better kebab platters I’ve had in Austin.

Since I was driving, I stuck to their virgin drinks. Ordered a shikanji (basically a spicy, tangy lemonade) and a Punjabi mule mocktail. The shikanji was my favorite—refreshing, sour, and with just the right kick. The Punjabi mule was nice too, a little on the sweeter side, but still enjoyable.

Service was excellent. The staff were polite, professional, and attentive without being overbearing. Water refills came without asking, and everything we needed was taken care of. A really kind touch: I accidentally left my cap inside, and the server literally walked all the way to the end of the parking lot to return it. That kind of gesture really leaves an impression.

Another cool thing—they have a modern ordering system where you just scan, order, and even open a tab from your phone. Super convenient.

Now, the prices are a bit on the higher side for what we ordered. Not outrageous, but definitely leaning toward the premium bracket. That said, the quality, presentation, and overall experience make it feel worth it.

Overall, AustIndia is a great spot if you’re craving flavorful Indian food with a nice ambiance and solid service. Definitely recommend checking it out.

My first visit yesterday and garam garam review.
Dahi kebabs were phenomenal. The chutney’s were in these cute little serving cups….very well presented. The malai koftas were very decent too. The aloo tikki chaat on the whole was real nice…however tikki’s were oil soaked so there was like raw oil in the mouth when biting into them…the chole in the bhature were bang on buck delhi style…however the bhature were really sad..the pickled onion and the green chutney somewhat made up for the bhature….but the fact they don’t have it nailed….and have it on the menu…is unfair to us all chole bhature lovers….who crave the phule phule garama garam bhature…

Had the Chicken Punjabi Curry and Garlic Naan. Truly wonderful food. Spiced just right. I will be eating here weekly if not more often. Mellow music does not distract. Conversation is actually possible. This is a hidden gem
You will not be disappointed!!!

After reading the reviews I was really excited to try this place out. Unfortunately I am completely disappointed. I ordered the Lamb Birllani, Lamb Butter Marsala and Goat Curry. As soon as I opened the birllanis I got a smell like something was off. I have eaten plenty of Lamb Birllanis but never have had any smell like they had gone bad. The goat curry and the Lamb Butter Marsala pretty much tasted the same and I pretty sure they should not. The best part of my meal were the samosas which were good. Unfortunately I will be throwing out the Birllanis because I’m just not gonna risk it and that’s 20 bucks I’m just throwing away. Hope you have better luck rhen me and I wish the best to this establishment. Update…
Called the restaurant to let them know about the Birllanis. The gentleman was polite and respectful. He apologized for the inconvenience and refunded me the cost of the Birllanis.

This place is a must-try! They serve delicious North Indian food. The aloo gobhi mix paranthe, chicken naan tacos, amritsari chole kulche, and achari chaap are all really good. The service is quick and the ambiance is great too.

We had a great experience at AustIndia Restaurant Bar & Grill. We ordered the tandoori platter, chicken pakora, dal makhani, Punjabi chicken curry, Amritsari kulcha naan, garlic butter naan, gulab jamun, moong dal halwa, and a Punjabi mule. The food was flavorful and well made especially the dal makhani and Punjabi chicken curry, which really stood out.

I really liked the option to order and pay through the app; it made everything easy and smooth. The service was excellent throughout, attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a solid spot for good Indian food with a modern, convenient setup. Would definitely go back.

Great Indian Punjabi food in north Austin. The staff are nice and were willing to accommodate our changes. The food took a little while to come out and had reasonable portion sizes. The kitchen closes at the same time the restaurant closes and there’s plenty of parking in the plaza carpark.
