Loved the classy décor and vibe of the restaurant. Their bakery items were excellent — especially the nankatai and ragi biscuits. Sadly, the popular tres leches was sold out.
Starters were very good the Paneer patpata and crispy corn.
The Kochi lunch combo was a disappointment. The rasam lacked flavor, and the shrimp and fish curry didn’t reflect authentic Kerala tastes. The Bikaner thali wasn’t great either — only the butter naan and raita stood out, while the paneer didn’t feel true to a Bikaner-style dish.
The Makhana curry came in a tomato base instead of the promised kaju gravy, and while the eggplant curry was good, the flavors faded with the medium/high spice level.
On the bright side, service was lovely. Teressa was kind and suggested a mocktail with pineapple, guava, and orange — and it was delicious.
They have a decent spread of interesting cocktails, beer, wine, spirits, mocktails, and juices. We got their Mango Martini and a Taj Mahal. A decent martini but can’t wait to try some of their other cocktails next time.
For the appetizers we ordered Drums of Heaven and Chicken Lollipop. Both tasted great. The Drums of Heaven is a bit on the spicy side. So much variety! Can’t wait to try their Lahsuni chicken next time and the Gobi 65. Based on the two dishes we got today, I must say I’m looking forward to the next set of appetizers on my list.
The classic Butter Chicken is what we opted for along with Paneer Tikka Masala. A bit of a cop out but also allows us to gauge the quality of a restaurant. These two are signature Indian preparations that can define the overall food quality of a restaurant. And, I’m pleased to say that we loved it. The Butter Chicken had a bit of texture to the sauce which is atypical but I think it enhanced it. The Paneer Tikka Masala didn’t look color-wise as a Tikka Masala but it delivered. We paired it with garlic naan which was soft and tasty but not as fluffy as in other restaurants. The dishes came with basmati rice on side.
We capped off our meal with a couple of desserts. The Gulab Jamun and Rasmalai. I preferred the Gulab Jamun. The Rasmalai was a little underwhelming though. Our friendly server, Nish, offered us a complimentary slice of Pineapple cake. A nice gesture and it allowed us to sample their pastry. They have an assortment of pastries; worth a try.
My only minor comment is that the large screen playing Bollywood songs in the restaurant detracts from the modern, classy vibe. It’s somewhat distracting too.
Overall, we had a wonderful and relaxing time at Aura and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to come back and try more of their drinks and dishes.

Very impressed with Aura. Went for happy hour today and it’s awesome!!! Would love to come back for dinner soon. Everything tastes amazing and very authentic flavors. Loved meeting Naveen and glad we visited. The best in Ashburn!!!
The highlight of the restaurant was the robots delivering food to our table, which was exciting to watch. It looks like the restaurant is moving toward offering fully automated service in the future.
Oh, and food arrives from the kitchen on a robot!
My main issue with the food was the excessive use of tomato sauce in the Rogan josh. It tasted nothing like the authentic Kashmiri rogan josh, as stated in the menu. The Lamb was a little tough and chewy. The paratha was pretty good.
Same for the Chana – too much tomato sauce.
I brought this to the attention of Arjun and he said he would let the kitchen know and didn’t return till we were ready to leave. That’s when he offered to replace the dish but we were done. He gave us the check and then gave us his name along with a QR code for writing a review mentioning him by name.
Arjun was doing his job and his service was not bad so I tipped him 15% where I would normally tip 20%.
Serious and unacceptable experience at this restaurant. Malai chicken kabobs and was served chicken that was raw on the inside. This is a major food safety issue, not a matter of taste.
Because of the severity of the situation, we sent a sample to food safety inspectors for evaluation. Serving raw chicken puts customers at real risk, and this should never happen in any sort of kitchen.
Until the restaurant addresses its cooking and food safety practices, we cannot recommend dining here.
