I’ve been to Aubrey’s a few times for lunch; they have a large main dining room with tables and booths as well as a separate, good-sized bar with plenty of seating. I was there on a Sunday afternoon, and sat at the bar, which had a number of TVs tuned to different NFL games. The place was pretty crowded for the time (around 2 p.m.), and as a result, the bartenders and servers seemed a bit harried, but in the end were able to rise to the challenge with minimal disruption.
When I’m eating alone, I like sitting at the bar, and this one had 40 beers on tap (including my favorite, Wicked Weed Pernicious). A full menu is available at the bar with selections of appetizers, salads, burgers and sandwiches, pastas, entrees and desserts. They also have about 15 sides to choose from; most dishes come with one or two sides. I opted for the fish and chips with a side of cole slaw. The fish was really crispy, with a panko crust, and the potato rounds were actually more tasty than I expected. The only low point was the cole slaw, which wasn’t bad, but was flecked with pineapple, which in my opinion isn’t a great addition to slaw.
Aubrey’s has some good daily specials, such as the Monday burger and brew special, which can save $5 or more off the price of ordering separately.
All in all, Aubrey’s is a pleasant place to spend an hour or so; the food is pretty good, service is fine, and beer and other alcohol selections plentiful.

I had a wonderful experience!!! The restaurant itself was beautiful. Spacious, comfortable. They have outside dining but I opted for indoor. The staff was great!! I had entered thru a wrong door and ended up behind the bar but they were very nice about it. My server, Tyler, was a young kid but he was friendly and chatty and obviously proud of his job. My meal was awesome. I started with a side salad that was fresh with wonderful home made ranch dressing. I then had a 16 oz ribeye that was tender and cooked to perfection. I would definitely go back. That meal with 2 desserts to go came to $60.

We had never dined at Aubrey’s before, and if it weren’t for a gift card we won at a luncheon hosted by our realtors earlier this year, we might have completely overlooked this hidden gem.

After a morning hike, we took some time to freshen up and wrap up a few work tasks before heading over to the Aubrey’s in Johnson City. Though it was well past the lunch rush, we were warmly welcomed and promptly seated.

The restaurant’s interior is inviting and stylish, with a dark, neutral color palette accented by vibrant pops of yellow. Large chalkboard murals and thoughtful décor contribute to a clean, modern, yet cozy atmosphere.

Our server, Sarah R., greeted us with a cheerful smile, took our orders efficiently, and offered to bring fresh bread while we waited. Yes, please!

My husband ordered the Old Fashioned Patty Melt — a mouthwatering combo of juicy burger patty, Swiss cheese, grilled onions, and crispy bacon on Texas toast. His fries were “double-dunked” for that perfect extra crunch, just as he likes them — nearly burnt, but not quite.

I chose the Thunder Road Burger, topped with crispy tobacco onions, jalapeños, and just the right amount of their signature pimento cheese spread. It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! I paired it with a fully loaded baked potato — generously topped and included at no extra charge — and it exceeded expectations.

Sarah struck the perfect balance of attentiveness, checking in just enough without ever hovering. She even brought my husband two refills on his Dr. Pepper without being asked.

All I can say is this: if you haven’t tried Aubrey’s yet, consider yourself warned — it may just win you over on your first visit like it did us.

We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Waitress was so wonderful. Menu has something for everyone. I had the fish n chips were lightly battered which was perfect! Add in the malt vinegar and it was great. The potatoes are thick cut so not very crispy but did taste good. The special strawberry poundcake a la mode was very good as well.

Ordered a $40 steak and somehow managed to get it undercooked twice. Not once—twice. After sending it back the first time, I assumed someone in the kitchen might actually check doneness. Nope. Same problem, different plate. At that price point, “trial and error” is not acceptable.

The waiter was choppy and short with us the entire time, like we were an inconvenience for expecting the bare minimum: edible food and basic respect. The vibe was very much “why are you even here?”

Between the botched steak, the openly rude management, and the attitude from the staff, this place managed to turn what should’ve been a simple dinner into an embarrassing mess. Paying premium prices for fast-food-level service and hostility is wild.

Plenty of restaurants in Johnson City know how to cook a steak once and treat customers like humans. This isn’t one of them. I won’t be back—and I’d strongly recommend others spend their money literally anywhere else…

We were a party of 11. 6 were children from 15 mo’s to 11 years. We were celebrating a birthday. The waitress we had was wonderful. She even took a group pic for us in front of the Christmas tree. The food was excellent. The whole experience was great.

This is a great place to go and eat. It has quality food for a chain restaurant. I tend to get the cranberry chicken salad as my go to GF option. The kids get the Chicken stripes every time. They smell and look amazing. Again not you local place but they definitely try and give you that feel. One of our go to places when we are in JC.

The type of food that’s worth the money you’re going to spend. I didn’t know about this place honestly, I live an hour away but come to JC often and I’m regretting not giving Aubrey’s a chance sooner. I got the fish and chips and it was the best I’ve ever had. I’m already contemplating on what I want next when I come back. I came here because I was reading the menu & my boyfriend loves burgers with pimento/fried onions so I already knew what he was going to order before he did. He loved every bite and my 4 yo ate every single bite of her kids burger which is very unusual. Definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back and try different things.

What a phenomenal experience with Aubrey’s 2 days in a row for dinner.
We traveled in for the Senior girls Little League softball tournament.
Aubrey’s happily sat us the first night for 15 people, and had a table ready for us when we arrived.
The 2nd night, we panicked trying to figure out where we were going to eat as a team. We called, and the managers made it happen. The women who served our tables were AMAZING and the food was GREAT! We hate that we live 5 hours away, otherwise, you would absolutely have a reoccuring team visit from us!
Thank you all!

Usually their food is wonderful, but for a change I had their Chicken Salad Club and it was terrible. I’ve never had mushy chicken salad before. I thought about sending it back but it just wasn’t worth it. They should just take it off their menu because it brings it down.
