Not impressed. I know it’s an airport restaurant – which is already generally more challenging for servers and staff… But I experienced pretty poor service and effort. To be fair the place was medium busy, so I try to cut a little slack. Server seemed annoyed to be there from the second we arrived. Ordered a grilled cheese and salad without chicken and beets (didn’t substitute anything, just removals… to try to be accommodating for the frantic airport environment). After a medium long wait, salad came with both chicken and beets. Reminded the server and he took it back, for rework. The bread on the grilled cheese was nice and thick, but the sandwich had surprisingly little cheese. I WANTED about 3x as much cheese, and EXPECTED about 2x as much cheese. With the menu boasting 3x types of cheeses – with the lack of cheese quantity, I find it hard to believe that there were even three types. Toward the end of the meal, ordered a beer – and it took 15 mins to arrive. I later noticed that our server was on break during this time… Frustrating that a simple drink refill took 15 mins. Fries were sooooo starchy and dry, it was hard to eat without constant water drinking. Charged $4 for a bar sparkling water. And to top it off, all empty dishes were left cluttering up the (small) table even though the server visiting 3 times when the plates were done. Beer was decent, but would call it below average. Half my issues were with the server, and to be fair other servers seemed more attentive. Would give it 1 star if it was a normal restaurant, but upgrading to 2 stars because of the difficult airport environment. I would certainly try something different at DTW.

SO disappointed by their discontinuing the vegan brats!!!

Came here last year and LOVED what they had to offer. As a vegan, it’s hard to find good American food restaurants, especially in airports. I literally texted several of my friends out of sheer joy that this place had vegan brats and that they were excellent. So my disappointment was especially high that they no longer offer that option, nor other equivalent vegan options anymore!!

We had the best experience here. It’s nice and close to the security checkpoint.
The food was absolutely delicious.
The service was great as well.
We received our food quickly and got moving in a timely manner. Spacious seating area with available options to charge electronics.
We started with the Barvarian Pretzel Sticks: 10/10. They were fluffy and warm and delicious. Salted to perfection. The real star was the beer cheese.
We got the beer cheese burger, brewers mac and cheese, and an Atwater brat. All the food was perfectly cooked and plated beautifully. The fresh chips on the side were so delicious that I had to take them home.
Waitress was super friendly and kept things moving along smoothly. Very attentive to drink needs.

We were flying out of Detroit and wanted to grab a bite before boarding since we had some time. We found Atwater Brewery and it was perfect.

We were seated quickly and got the best waitress! Andrea! She was delightful. Very professional and fun too. Our family likes to laugh and enjoy- she figured us out quickly and it was an awesome experience.

The food was delicious too. The traditional Bratwurst, Motor City Burger and Chicken Tacos were our choices each came with chips that were yummy oh and also a flight of mimosas! and they did not disappoint.

If you have time- stop by, have some grub and drink and tell Andrea hi for us!

I am a french fry snob, and the fries here blew my mind. I think they’re “box from Sysco” fries, but they’re sublimely seasoned and fried.

I had the fish and chips and will have them the next time I fly through DTW.

Beer wise, the Purple Gang Pilsner is good but nothing special. The Vanilla Java Porter is excellent though, especially on a chilly day. It’s a great mix of vanilla, spice, and coffee flavor in a smooth porter.

Every time I fly through Detroit Metro Airport, I make a point to stop at Atwater Brewery in Concourse D—and it’s always worth it. Whether you’ve got a layover or just need a place to relax before your flight, this spot delivers a comfortable atmosphere, great service, and a true taste of Detroit.

Despite being located inside an airport, the vibe feels more like a local brewery than a typical terminal restaurant. It’s clean, casual, and welcoming, with just enough Detroit character to remind you you’re in the Motor City.

The food is excellent—especially the burger, which is juicy, flavorful, and served hot every time I’ve ordered it. It’s exactly the kind of satisfying meal you want before a long flight. They also offer wings, sandwiches, and snacks that pair perfectly with a cold drink, all served quickly without sacrificing quality.

What really makes this place stand out is the craft beer selection. Atwater’s own brews—like Dirty Blonde, Vanilla Java Porter, and others—are available on tap. You can even get a beer flight if you want to try a few before choosing a favorite. It’s a perfect way to enjoy some locally brewed flavors without leaving the airport.

The staff is always friendly and efficient, even when the place is busy. They understand travelers are often on a tight schedule and do a great job getting food and drinks out quickly while still being personable.

Atwater Brewery at DTW is more than just an airport bar—it’s a great way to enjoy local food and drink in a relaxed setting. If you’re flying through Detroit, it’s absolutely worth a stop. I always leave feeling like I got a little something extra out of my travel day.

I had a great experience until I witnessed a waitress almost pushing an elderly customer out of her way so she could answer a personal phone call on her cellphone that was sitting at the employees table, which was filled with employees sitting around complaining. Not a good look. My bartenders were awesome. Feb 4th 2026 at 2 to 3pm

I usually feel kind of awkward when sitting down at a restaurant right when they open but Tara was immediately so welcoming and polite. Her service was excellent and I could see that she was very kind to all the other customers as well. Food came out quick for having just opened and was great. The menu might appear slightly pricey but is actually a great value compared to other restaurants in the airport and the portions are generous. This is my go to place at DTW!

Pork sandwich with fries and the Atwater beer were awesome! The nachos-the worst I have had in a long time! Kettle chips were used instead of actual nacho chips and the « beer cheese » as described on the menu was some kind of white mayonnaise and sour cream mixture. It was not cheese at all-did not look like cheese or taste like cheese.
The live music was such a treat! Really added to the atmosphere-very nice touch compared to normal boring airport pubs!
