Attman’s Delicatessen has been a family affair since its founding on “Corned Beef Row” in Baltimore by Harry Attman in 1915: Attman’s is America’s oldest Jewish deli still operated by the original family! Attman’s Potomac Deli, a branch of the legendary Baltimore location, serves their Famous Corned Beef Sandwiches and more. Stopped by with my wife, son , daughter in law, grandson , daughter and son in law. Yall nailed it, we had 3, regular reubens, (obviously), pastrami club, ham and turkey club. Everything was on point ,pickle bar was delicious, probably the best reuben I’ve had since I used to make them. Ana was efficient. Big plus was the free underground parking, cause parking around the restaurant sucks.

A NYC food critic via a WP host came to the DMV to find the best pastrami sandwich. They found it here. I had it of course and it is really outstanding. Huge deli menu including breakfast. Service was quick and friendly.

Was craving a chicken Caesar wrap and based on a review saying they’re “out of this world” decided to try it. At 14.99 for chicken and lettuce, I was trying to be optimistic. That’s probably where I went wrong. While they ask what type of wrap you want (I asked for spinach) they will just give you whatever they have. Also there is allegedly Caesar dressing on the wrap, but as you can see from the picture the “dressing” must still be in the closet searching for an outfit because it was not on the wrap. The only reason it didn’t get 1 star is because it comes with chips and a pickle. No croutons, no dressing, no bueno. I live in the same shopping center as attman’s and have been disappointed more often than not since they moved here.

The menu is huge and can be a bit overwhelming for a first timer, but once you spend some time with it, you find all the Jewish deli staples. Not living near a true Jewish deli, I ordered nostalgically for those things that I grew up on.
The three of us split matzoh ball soup, potato knish, kishka, and blintzes (one cheese and one blueberry). We also split a corned beef sandwich and 1/2 of a turkey pastrami sandwich (both on rye); the sandwiches came with a LARGE portion of potato chips.
The kishka and blintzes were excellent and brought back fond memories of our childhood. The potato knish and the sandwiches were very good. The disappointment of the meal was the matzo ball soup which lacked depth and flavor. It was definitely under-salted (but that is somewhat understandable), however even with salt, it would still be flat.
The service was efficient, with a little side of ‘couldn’t be bothered’ which one comes to expect in New York, but in suburban Maryland, it’s a surprise. By the end of the meal, our waitress warmed up, but until then, it felt, at times, that we were bothering her (we did ask for extra spoons, a larger plate, and the side of Russian dressing we initially ordered). In her defense, it was a busy weekday lunchtime.
All in all a solid experience and would definitely eat here again. And for the amount of food we ordered, the prices were quite reasonable.

It’s a deli that wants to be a Jewish deli, and it falls a bit short. While the portions are ok, the prices average, the food was not good. I had the omelet with hash browns and bagel. Also, made a visit to the pickle bar. The hash browns were probably the worse I have ever had: soggy and odd tasting. The “pickle bar?” A sorry excuse for one, basically just pickled cucumbers. The service was ok, until we finished our food; they couldn’t wait for us to leave and used every trick to show us that. No need to say that the hard wooden chairs are not conducive to a long stay. To sum it up: it was ok, we will never go back.

Disappointing experience. First we ordered at the counter and then waited 30 minutes in the crowded take-out area. Granted, they were working very hard to serve a large number of people, and they were courteous and seemingly efficient. But I wish they had warned us it would take that long so that would could have walked outside or something. And then, we were surprised with how small the pastrami sandwich was for the price. (It tasted fine.) And my bagel with cream cheese and lox had a reasonable amount of lox but almost no cream cheese on it (see photo; I promise I did not remove any cream cheese, just lifted the lox). The bagel itself didn’t have quite the right texture– it was a bit mushy.

Finally got to try it and wasn’t disappointed. The Reuben sandwich was very good and it tasted “light”. The only disappointment is the chips that accompany the sandwiches. The hot pastrami was good but tasted saltier. Hahaha, maybe I shouldn’t have gorged on pickles before the sandwiches were served.
The pickles bar was a big plus for me but I caution sodium overloads.
The underground parking is free for the first 2 hours and helped when we visited.

My boyfriend ordered Pastrami and a Caesar Salad from this place on Uber Eats for me.
The entire meal was very meticulously and carefully packaged, with absolutely no sauce spilled or leaked.
The Hot Pastrami portion was huge, weighing 555 grams (excluding sauce). The beef was well-marinated, tender yet firm, with a great texture, juicy, and very fresh. The combination of cream cheese with cranberry sauce really elevated the pastrami’s flavor – I loved this pairing!
The Caesar Salad was incredibly fresh and a generous portion, even though the receipt indicated it was just a small salad. They included a lot of sliced cheese, and the avocado was fresh and delicious too.
The chips were crispy, and the pickles were tasty as well.
I’ll definitely be trying this place in person in the future!
