Adding to my original review below: The true test of a restaurant lies in taste, consistency, service and vibe. Unfortunately my second trip to Athidi was not as great as my first trip. This time, on Valentine’s Day, the restaurant was bustling with people. Almost all the tables were occupied. We ordered our favorite, Rava masala dosa for both of us. I was surprised that the food came out quite quickly. But the sambar was lukewarm. No problem! We asked the waiter to heat it up. We had almost finished eating the dosas and the sambar didn’t make its way back to our table. We were finally able to grab the waiters attention and he quickly brought the sambar back, this time, it was as lukewarm as before. He apologized and said that he heated it for a minute in the microwave but forgot to bring it out. Common sense tells me that if you heated it and forgot for 15 minutes, you should try to heat it one more time before bringing it out. So unfortunately, I have re-reviewed and taken out one star each for service and food. When you run a restaurant, you must train your staff. Not once did anyone come back to our table to ask how the food was and if we needed anything else. I’m sorry, but this time, it didn’t work for me. Im leaving my original review as it is below.

The choice was between Indian and Chinese cuisine. We leaned towards Indian, because we wanted to try this almost new place called Athidi in Saugus, MA. We went on a weekday. There was just one other table with a group of people celebrating something, in this big, spacious restaurant. However, it was raining outside, and I noticed that they had a ton of carry out orders. The owner himself waited on us, who also happens to be the main chef of the restaurant. When you go to a South Indian restaurant, you must try their South Indian cuisine. We tried one South Indian and one North Indian dish. I ordered Rava Masala dosa, my favorite, and the person who went with me ordered a North Indian dish, saag with sabji, which, the chef told us that was his own creation. It was a very unique dish that had the sauce made from three different greens with vegetables that tasted VERY fresh. We ordered tandoori roti with it. Rava masala dosa was very good. Thumbs up for that. And double thumbs up for the North Indian dish. The chef also brought complimentary dessert for us, kheer. Everything was delicious and I can’t wait to try some other dishes next time.

If you’re craving authentic Indian flavors, Athidhi is a must-visit! The food is absolutely incredible, and the spice levels are spot-on, perfectly balanced without overwhelming your palate.

Andhra Chilli Chicken: Bursting with bold flavors and just the right amount of heat. A true Andhra specialty done right!

Goat Biryani: Fragrant, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every bite feels like a celebration of traditional Indian cuisine.

We were pleasantly surprised with complimentary desserts, which added a sweet finishing touch to an already amazing meal.

A special shout-out to Shahenshah, who gave us fantastic recommendations and made the dining experience even better. His suggestions were spot-on and really enhanced our visit.

I had an outstanding meal at Athidi Indian Restaurant in Saugus! The food was excellent—Masala Dosa, Garlic Naan, and Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice were all bursting with authentic flavors and perfectly cooked. Every dish was fresh and satisfying, and you could tell it was made with a lot of care and attention to detail.

Our server, Nada, was wonderful—friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Shahen, the owner, was also incredibly welcoming and took the time to check in on us, which made the experience even better.

If you’re looking for authentic Indian food with amazing service, Athidi Indian Restaurant is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I have been going to Athidhi since they first opened, and it remains one of the very few places in Massachusetts that comes genuinely close to authentic Indian food. Whether you’re craving South Indian or North Indian cuisine, they execute both with impressive consistency.
There are probably only two other restaurants in MA that can compete at this level, and none of them are in Boston.
Hands down, this is the best biryani I’ve had in the state. The baingan masala is equally outstanding deeply flavorful, perfectly balanced, and cooked the way it should be.
As a serious foodie and someone very particular about Indian cuisine, this is actually the first restaurant I’ve ever felt compelled to review. That should say something. I don’t write reviews often but when food tastes like home, you make an exception.

Fantastic experience overall! The food was top-notch, full of flavor and perfectly prepared. What truly set this place apart, though, was the exceptional hospitality. Nishan and Tahsi were incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming, making me feel genuinely appreciated as a guest rather than just a customer. Their kindness and attentiveness elevated the entire experience. I was also treated to complimentary desserts, a very thoughtful and delicious touch. Highly recommend and will definitely return!

This buffet is good! Food is amazing and it you’ve never had Indian food or you’ve just had a little bit, you will leave a litte more wise and definitely full. Only drawbacks were service, and that there was an ant on our food. We asked for a replacement and noticed a shift in our waitresses attitude towards us. Less checks (not a busy day). Would come back myself, but I can’t speak for my party. You might say “it bugged us” lol

Good Indian restaurant in Massachusetts. The ambience is decent and the food tastes good. Loved their chicken fried rice, a must try according to me. The goat biryani was a bit too over powering for me with the masala. I felt the masala to rice ratio was off but the goat was cooked well. For appetizers try their chicken lollipop dry it’s tastes good and the pepper chicken tastes good as well. The location streams live cricket matches like during IPL season and other tournaments. Definitely would like to visit the place again.

I did a carry out order. I love Indian food and have had it across many states, cities, the US, UK; I have eaten thousands of dishes over 30 years, but to be fair, I’m not an expert. Despite that, I can share this place was just okay. The biggest issue was we ordered two main courses with rice and naan bread and the rice and naan bread were stone cold. I mean cold! I picked up the carry out and heard the person announce my name so I know it was delivered at the front desk warm or at least what they expected. I was at 15 minute tops drive to the house and by the time I opened it it was Stone Cold. As in had we not had access to a microwave we would not have been able to eat it. The flavors were decent for the main courses. As in meh. I picked this place because of the fantastic reviews but I can’t agree with them. Give it a pass.
