Our experience was wonderful. The food was really good and everything we ordered was fantastic. The portions were generous and the staff and owners were very pleasant and welcoming.
We were honestly surprised it was not packed because the food is so good it deserves a full house. My sister asked about live entertainment since she is a singer and they invited her to do an on the spot audition. They seemed very pleased with her.
This place is a true gem and I hope it stays around for a long time. We really enjoyed our visit.

Fantastic food, fantastic staff and excellent atmosphere. The smothered turkey chops were perfectly seasoned, the collard greens were absolutely perfect. The whiting was flaky and flavorful with a perfect crisp to it. The Mac and cheese was creamy and delicious, and the yams were the perfect level of sweet with the perfect texture. The black eyed peas reminded me of perfect southern cooking. One of the best examples of southern cooking that you can find in this area. Check it out you will not be disappointed.

I made a reservation 2 weeks prior stating there would be 8-10 ppl spoke with the owner Monica. On the phone she was nice. Today is the day I was attending with my church family to break out fast. I was told we wouldn’t be served until all the party was there which was fine. We were waiting for 1 person once the person arrived Monica said I’ll be over to take your drink menu she never car back. Then the other waiter Jamie said she would do it. It took about a good 15 mins. We order food and drinks. Our drinks we made but sat on the counter then we got cornbread we got our drink about 15-20mins after ordering. Then nothing from neither of them. Jaime had an attitude the whole time for what reason I don’t know. After about 45 mins my Pastor went to talk to Monica to express her disappointment and the customer service she received. At that time she learned that Monica husband was in a bad car accident and she was down a waiter and a chef. Still no real apology just she was disappointed that my pastor had addressed the issues. So again we waited. After another half hour she came to say our food was being plated. 15 mins later no food no update. So we asked for the bill to Jaime she tell Monica. Monica comes over and states we are working on it I know your situation and you know mine its only been a hour. She said its being put on the plate right now. 10 mins later we asked for the bill she stated we didnt have to pay. Never once did anyone inform us of the situation at hand before or after we sat down. The customer from her and her waiter is HORRIBLE. I will NOT be back. I always try mt best to support black businesses but whew these owners make it so hard. Not sure what the food taste like but from the reviews I didn’t miss out. I left and went to Cheesecake factory yesterday there was a wait but I was able to get a seat at the bar and was served and greeted the moment I sat down. No attitude. Please do better.

We were dining at this establishment on last night. I was very disappointed because we had set such a long time to get any service. The waitress had no deplore had no kindness in her bones. She came over and said she was gonna get our drinks and I drank sat on the counter for a good 1520 minutes they look like they were just ice cubes taken out of a tray and the Pepsi was so diluted. It didn’t even taste like Pepsi to top it all off. They never came and said how long the meal would be or what the situation was so I asked to speak with management who was Monica she said she was sorry she was down a chef and down a waitress and her husband was in an accident and we are so sorry to hear that we will continue to pray his strength, but neat to say you’re running a restaurant I said how long will the food be in? She said I don’t know, but I noticed another party came in of five they sat down and in 5 to 10 minutes they had their food so I said well how come they got served so fast and she said well you guys were waiting for one person on the time that it took to wait for that one person you could’ve served us our meal and then came back and got his, but that was not the case our party got so disturbed over the customer service and over the weight of her saying it’s being played it right now. I was too nervous to even eat there. It’s very sad that when we go to Black owned restaurants, they do not know how to treat their people nor do they know how to do customer service we two went to Applebee’s had a wonderful waitress came and bought our food out in 10 minutes. It was nice and hot. It was nice and good and we had no problem. I wish black owned restaurants or black owned. Businesses would learn how to be respectful and treat. Their customers with dignity I was to my surprise that she let all that money walk out the door. It was at least $350 sitting at the table.

I give this restaurant a 2 out of 10 . Horrible customer service which is sad because I ordered take out. I seen this restaurant on TikTok so I decided to try. I called to place my order I order all sides because I don’t eat meat I’m vegan my daughter is vegetarian. I order 3 macs, 3 collard greens , 2 yams , 1 red beans and rice , 1 cabbage , 1 green beans , 1 potato salad ,1 cornbread, 2 sweet teas ,2 lemonades I wanted to try at least one of everything. I was excited to support a black owned business I actually drove 1 hour and 15 mins to get there and I was going to do a food review on social media because I have a large following. However I’m not going to do that . 1 because I have nothing good to say and I will never bash a black owned business on my platform but I’am going to leave a honest review here because I’m disappointed in the service. So I placed the order the girl told me she will call me back when it’s ready which I didn’t mind because again I drove over a hour away and I knew it’ll be a while before I got there . She calls me back in 5 mins and said you can’t order only sides so I said huh ? What do you mean ? She said you got to order a platter with meat I said we don’t eat meat and we don’t eat fish we’re vegetarian so she said hold on and put the phone down she comes back and say you can’t order all these sides it’s too many you got to order a platter. I said well I don’t eat meat so what do you want me to change ? I said if it’s about the money you can charge me more I just want my sides I don’t eat meat so she put the phone down again and I hear a lady in the back saying they can’t order greens and take off 1 of each sides and I made the greens with chicken broth anyway . So the girl comes back and say you can’t buy any greens at all if not with a platter and you can only buy 1 of each, so I said it’s two of us what do you mean we can only buy one side she then put the phone down and talk to the lady I’m assuming the owner she comes back and say ok yall can buy one side a piece but you can’t buy no greens at all so you got to order a different side so I said well give me black eye peas she said we don’t got that with a attitude as if it’s not on the menu . Then she said there’s no potatoes either. Now I’m kind of frustrated cause I here the attitude now I’m to the point were I really was about to say Nevermind I don’t play about negative ppl making my food but my daughter really wanted it so I just added the other two sides they had to offer which was asparagus and green beans. So once we got there my daughter was scared to ask for dessert because they might not allow us to eat dessert without meat smh however they didn’t even have dessert to order .the place was empty when my daughter went in so I don’t understand why we couldn’t buy greens and why it was such a problem to order sides when it’s on the menu with a price. This place is not vegan friendly or vegetarian friendly you can’t buy what you want you have to buy what she want you to buy which is meat and a platter had I known that I wouldn’t of drive a hour away this the first restaurant that has ever told me that . It was so many red flags while trying to order I should of canceled once I had to go back and fourth about my order. The food was ok though maybe a 4 out of 10 definitely not good enough to go back the energy and customer service is trash. mac, green beans and asparagus was seasoned really good , cabbage seem old , yams was watery, rice and beans was ok sweet tea was nasty, lemonade was good.and they forgot to give me my cornbread . I ate a spoon full of everything not going to eat anymore of it so a waste of money ,once the energy is off I’m off .So again if your vegan or vegetarian don’t bother everyone else might like it some stuff was seasoned well. However for me and mine we won’t be going back !

Heard about this Southern restaurant so we visited. Someone said it’s a hidden gem. Location inside corner of Target shopping center. Quickly greeted and seated. My choice pan seared crab cakes in garlic butter black-eyed peas & rice, Mac & cheese. Corn bread placed on table. Corn bread sweet, moist and hot.
Crab seared great just enough fill to hold together delicious. Peas great Southern flavor. MAC & cheese creamy & stringy cheese at the same time delicious.
Wife said her fried jumbo chicken tenders were delicious and as good as fried chicken at our favorite chicken restaurant Southern Kitchen in New Market VA. Moist and could not be more crispy. Spices use seems to be from different areas of the South. We will be going back to try other items on menu. Sweet time pic of coconut pineapple take home dessert.

When we arrived, party of 3, we were told there was a 30-40 minute wait regardless if we ate in or did take out. First time at the restaurant, we opted to eat in. After being seated and given menus, we were almost immediately asked what we wanted to order and it was with a slight attitude and impatience. Had to explain it was our first time, which then changed the demeanor of the hostess/waitress, who then answered a couple of questions and took our drink orders. Somewhat lengthy wait to get drinks, had a second waitress come to us asking if we ordered drinks yet, to which we said “yes but we haven’t received them yet” as the initial waitress was taking a while serving another table. Moments later, another female worker, which seemed to be manager, came to us asking if we were ready or not and when indicating the other waitress was attending, said it didn’t matter and questioned whether or not one in my party remembered what drink they ordered, in a rude way. Getting beyond that, we finally placed orders but was told there were NO beef ribs due to not being available at the store, as if it’s something known to everyone; had to reiterate to this worker/manager, it was the first time at the restaurant, so to go to next person in our party to give me time to choose a second option, which was done immediately after that person stated what they wanted. One complimentary sweet cornbread muffin was given per person as we waited for our meals. The muffins were fresh, soft, and sweet. Instead of a 30-40 minute wait, it was well over an hour. The same worker/manager came to our table once to say our food was being plated and would be out momentarily, only for it to be another 15 minutes or so. Once it came, one person in my party asked for a to-go container, which was then met with the response, “if you wanted it to go, you should’ve told me that before.” Well, our food didn’t come out momentarily but we didn’t say anything in response to her remark. Containers were brought for everyone although we did eat some of our meals while there since we were hungry but had other obligations. The main entrees come with your choice of two sides. The sides were hot, the salmon, and fried chicken; however, the smothered turkey wings were lukewarm though the person in my party said they had a decent flavor. The other got the grilled salmon and said they were not impressed with the flavor. I got the fried chicken which was seasoned well and crispy. The mac and cheese was underwhelming, very peppery. The collard greens were ok, a weird sweet and tart, vinegar flavor. The other two in my party got the yams and said they were basic, not really flavorful; one said they could taste some cinnamon, the other didn’t. One got cabbage and said it was a little salty. Each main entree meat comes on a bed of rice which was like herb flavored and slightly overcooked. Overall, the food had a decent enough flavor, depending on the choice; yet, the service and wait were unprofessional and concerning, leading to pause about returning anytime soon. Maybe ordering for take out an hour prior would be beneficial but the dine in experience with the wait was not what you would like to see though it could very well had been worse. The place was not crowded, but had a stream of people coming in primarily for take out and a few tables with other parties. Improvement with customer service needed: reduce assumptions and rushing customers, especially with ridiculous wait times for food. Take-out would probably be better suited for this establishment until the dine-in service is efficient, effective, and enjoyable.

It took me a long time to write this review because I had to pray over it and speak to others to make sure I was correct. So I made reservation for 21 people, and I was told no split checks and I understood at least I thought. I told everyone to either bring cash or Zelle me there potion for the dinner. When the check came (1) they charged me for one child and it was 3 in total. Once they made that correction I gave the cash and the remain of the bill to be taken off the debit card. (2) This where the disagreement came when the waitress said to me we can’t accept split check. I could not understand when it was one bill not split; part cash and balance on the credit card. To not make a big deal out of it I went to nearest ATM while my guest remained to get the cash balance needed to pay the bill. After she took ALL CASH payment the owner as to speak with me just to tell me I was told when I made the reservation no split checks. I told her I understood that but to me no split checks is for EACH PERSON OR GROUP TO PAY SEPARTELY. She went on and pointed at handwritten sign (so tacky) on the side of small fridge that states it that everyone does not read it. Who reads something when your getting your utensils for a buffet??? I suggested that she retrain her staff to be more specific and just say NO SPLIT CHECKS CASH OR CREDIT/DEBIT CARD ONLY. And to put a more professional sign as guest comes in the door so they know beforehand. Of course the owner disagreed. Then it was a small verbal loud discussion with one of my guest and I told my group let’s go because I didn’t want to disturb the others in the restaurant. (3) Finally our people have to do better in business especially when we want to help support our own. I pray that the owner will make the changes because I spoke to others before writing the this review and they all agreed with me. I spoke to the First Watch Manager: I spoke to another person that I knew was at the restaurant. Lastly for a buffet the desert sucked!!! #splitcheck

Celebrated my friends birthday with two other friends and we enjoyed ourselves. All four of us had different entrees and were pleased. We had salmon cakes, turkey wings, salmon and lamb chops which we enjoyed. Our appetizer we had wings with various flavors and birthday girl had salmon nuggets. Cornbread was bomb and sides of Mac and cheese, collard greens and yams on point. BYOB! Great portions, service and atmosphere; we will be back.
