While driving from Oregon to Florida, my brother and I have been trying local food spots. After doing a quick Google search in the area we were in during lunch today, I found Aster Foods. I read the overview, looked at the photos, and we immediately decided to stop in. The amazing smell alone was overwhelmingly wonderful; wow! The energy and vibe was great, and when we realized it was a mom & pop style restaurant owned and operated by a father with his son as his sidekick, we all the more knew we picked the right place! I had the brisket, smoked kielbasa and ribs with sides of BBQ baked beans, and red beans & rice. My brother had the brisket, pulled pork and ribs with sides of mac and cheese and crinkle cut fries. We grew up eating great barbecue in Florida so we were ready. The food was excellent, did not disappoint, and the service was top notch. After eating, we wound up talking with the owner for about 30 minutes while it wasn’t busy and it was such good conversation that felt easy, natural and genuine. It’s clear and evident the owner loves making excellent food from the heart that tastes great, and satisfies the stomach and soul. His son clearly loves working alongside his dad, helping to create a one of a kind dining experience that is unmatched. If you’re anywhere near the area, do yourself a favor and stop in because you won’t be disappointed and your taste buds and soul will thank you. 10 outta 10, highly recommend!

When you come to Sydney make sure this place is on your food to-do list top three! The food is that southern flair and comes in southern style portions. You definitely will get a bang for your buck in value. I personally recommend the seasoned just right fried pickles! The facility is clean and family ready. I tried the macaroni and brisket and it was more than what I bargained for by far. You definitely get your money’s worth! Staying at the Hilton are any of the hotels in the area make sure to stop by this place for a dinner that is worth the hard Day’s work! I will be back when I’m in the area again one day.

Fantastic smoked meats in Sidney, NE. If you live there or travel through make sure to stop. Definitely beats any fast food available! Probably took 5-7 minutes for 4 meals but so worth it. All take out but a few tables if you need to eat there. Fantastic service and so clean inside. Huge portions.

We needed a break from traveling and found Aster’s Smokehouse. The service was friendly and excellent from the owner Mr. Scott. Food quality was average BBQ, with some tasty sauce. The brisket could have had more smoke and been more tender but was good. The Onion Rings were great, Sausage was decent and the Mac N’ Cheese was ok. My wife took one bite of the Slaw and actually spit it out she stated it had no flavor and was mayo and cabbage only. These are the reasons for the 3 star on the food quality. Daughter & Son both had pulled pork and said it was good.
We felt like the combo meals were pricey for the quality but the sandwich prices were prob about average. A couple charges I was not told about were the extra for the brisket on the 2 meat combo and the 3% credit card charge. Those things should be told to the customer upon order.

Every time I stop here, the food is always TOO GOOD!!!!! The owner is so welcoming and serves hefty portions. This time around I got the 3 meat combo with 2 sides. Yall have to stop by and try this place out. I’m posting pics to show yall what I mean.

The food here is PHENOMINAL. The owner/ chef is very kind and personable and obviously takes pride in his food and establishment. He is knowledgeable about his ingredients and allergens. I’m thrilled to have found Aster Smokehouse on my way across the country. This is not currently a sit-down establishment, though he is hoping to upgrade seating.
I had the Mac and cheese, pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, and coleslaw.

Stopped here for lunch when making the loooong drive across Nebraska on I-80. What a great find! HUGE portions, and delicious BBQ! We got orders of Brisket nachos and smokehouse fries. Owner was so friendly and service was quick. We were able to sit at one of the inside tables and watch some college football while we ate. Totally satisfied our craving for BBQ and would definitely recommend for lunch or dinner!

This place is . The food was amazing and service was with a smile. As you walk in you are greeted with the delicious aroma of fresh smoked deliciousness. Stop in the parking lot to do a 10 hour break and thought I would give it a try and was not disappointed. This is real bbq, not some bs chain dried out garage like dickies or others. I am an avid barbecuer myself and know good stuff and this is spot on! The food quantity to price is also perfect. I will be recommending this to all the other drivers I know and anyone else passing through Sidney.

AMAZING BBQ!!!! Wow! Hands down possibly THE BEST BBQ pulled pork I have had anywhere! A bit hard to find, it is located next to bomgaars to the right of the old Radio Schack. HIGHLY recommend Astors. I will be back and back and back. Love it!!
