Asaka isn’t loud or showy; it’s the kind of place where the food speaks quietly but confidently. Everything feels intentional, from the plating of the dishes to how each flavor hits your palate.
We started with the Crispy Gyoza, which arrived hot, perfectly browned, and light. The filling had just the right amount of seasoning, standing out beautifully, and the ponzu sauce added a refreshing citrus punch that tied everything together.
Next came the Spicy Tuna Tartare, which was smooth and well-balanced. The fresh tuna was finely diced and mixed with just enough chili mayo to provide a gentle kick without overpowering its natural flavor. The avocado added a creamy touch, making each bite feel complete.
The Monster Maki quickly became my favorite. The combination of warm shrimp tempura and cool spicy tuna worked excellently together. The eel sauce brought a touch of sweetness, and every bite felt layered and satisfying.
I was pleasantly surprised by the Beauty N the Beast Roll. The pairing of mango and salmon might sound unusual, but it really worked. The sweetness of the mango lightened the richness of the salmon, while the avocado added a lovely smooth texture.
The Dragon Maki felt classic and comforting. The tender eel, crunchy cucumber, and smoky-sweet glaze created a delicious balance.
I couldn’t resist trying the Chashu Ramen, which was deep and flavorful. The broth was rich but not overwhelming, and you could really taste the time that went into making it. The pork belly melted in my mouth, and the noodles remained firm until the last bite.
To drink, I ordered the Lychee Martini. It was fragrant and clean, making it easy to sip alongside the sushi. The Cold Nigori Sake paired even better; it enhanced the sweetness of the fish and kept the meal feeling light.
The service was as delightful as the food—warm and attentive without being intrusive. Dishes arrived at the perfect pace, and the staff was clearly knowledgeable about the menu.
Asaka is not trying to be high-end or overly dramatic; it feels genuine. The flavors are thoughtful, the ingredients are fresh, and the atmosphere is relaxed. If you’re someone who cares more about good food than flashy presentation, this is definitely a place you’ll want to revisit.

The sushi restaurant is amazing. The fish is fresh where it needs to be and aged properly where it needs to be as well. Best tuna I’ve had in ages. Appetizers are great, and tempura is pretty good. Generally, I prefer a Panko tempura and they don’t use it but given that they don’t, it’s amazing.

Great food and the potential for a great atmosphere too, but the electronics hold it back. The hotate yaki (baked scallop and crab) was the surprise star of the dinner, the maki rolls were all really good, and the scallion pancakes were the best I’ve had in the area. Unfortunately, there was a loud online ordering system chiming, and there was a TV playing the news — unmuted! If they turn those off, this will be a 5 star restaurant.

The food was delicious and the space is very cozy. I don’t like yakisoba with all the vegetables but they promptly responded to my request and did exactly what I asked for. The prices are very fair too. I totally recommend it!

Very nice and small restaurant, but the menu is huge! So much to pick from and I’ll have to come back when I’m out this way. The takoyaki was delicious and not scalding hot. And this place has some of the more unique sushi rolls that I’ve had. I forget the name of the one I had but it had garlic on top and it paired very well! I also appreciated the atmosphere in here, very quiet and relaxing!

This place is a hidden gem. Don’t be fooled by the location! I have spent a lot of time in Japan and Asaka offers the most authentic Japanese on the South Shore. The Shumai and Tempura appetizers are excellent. The sushi is high quality; I would recommend the Sushi Deluxe entree to get a nice sampling. Inside there is a sushi bar, standard table seating and there is even a traditional Tatami seating area if you want to feel like you’re in Japan. This is my new go-to sushi place on the South Shore!

We loved the sushi! Our favorites were the monster maki, mexican maki, shrimp tempura mango maki and the sexy girl maki. The crab rangoons and scallion pancakes were also very good. We had a bit of a wait to get seated but thought it was worth it.

Mom pop owned. Absolutely great service. Generous amount of miso soup which was exactly what I needed for a 32 degree New England fall evening.
Followed by the Rainbow Maki and a White Tuna Handroll
