The burgers were absolutely great—juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The red beans and rice, though, completely stole the show—phenomenal flavor, perfectly seasoned, and truly comforting. Friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere made the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I’d recommend to anyone looking for delicious Cajun-inspired food.

Stumbled on this place driving to Jackson. Good google reviews so we gave it a try. It did not disappoint. Super friendly staff. The debris po-boy is fantastic. Fresh made pickles. Oyster po-boy was perfect. Banana pudding delicious. It’s worth the extra couple of minutes to get off the interstate if you are tired of the regular sandwich and burger places! We will be back on the return trip!

I ordered red beans and rice and a small thing of the gumbo with cornbread. I really was impressed with how well it was packed! Everything in its own container sealed. The red beans were amazing for some it does have a tiny kick due to sausage. The gumbo was not spicy at all I know a lot of ppl who search high and low for that so here it is. It was still pretty good. Cornbread was pretty decent. Sweet Cornbread. Thank you for making my lunch and my day! And night lol because it was a lot.

Stopped on our way from Jacksonville to Shreveport for lunch. I had the Trinity. Sooo good! I’ve been wanting some good Cajun food and they delivered! The Jambalaya was perfectly cooked. I’m not a huge fan of gumbo because everyone seems to cook it differently but it was also really good! The red beans and rice was also tasty. It is a small cafe so not a full size restaurant but was clean and cozy. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Definitely recommend!

Today was my first-time ordering. I got the half and half with red beans. The best thing on my plate was the French bread. The worst 29.00 I have ever spent not to mention my red beans were not completely done. I am a native Louisiana girl and this isn’t a good representation of New Orleans!!

While in Hattiesburg, MS for some antiquing, my wife found The Art of Roux—and wow, what a gem! She ordered the red beans and rice, and I went with the Holy Trinity (red beans and rice, jambalaya, and gumbo). Every bite was packed with flavor and absolutely delicious.
The young man at the register was not only friendly, but also gave us some great recommendations for other things to do around town. Between the amazing food and the welcoming atmosphere, this place is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

Had the pleasure of dining at Art of Roux today. I ordered poboy, red beans and potato salad. The poboy was a little different than I’m used to since the gravy was on top and not mixed in with the meat while it cooks. But it had good flavor and I used plenty of napkins! Red beans were truly amazing and I would return just for that. Service was friendly and welcoming.

We saw Art of Roux on TikTok & drove an hour away to come try it out. We got the Holy Trinity meal, Fancy Burger meal & Fried Shrimp meal. For dessert we got the banana pudding. I would rate our experience 10/10 & the owner is so sweet/helpful. We will be back soon.
