The Art of Coffee is a must-visit café. I discovered this community in Montrose while exploring the area to learn about its history. The dining room and retail areas feature stunning artwork. The town is filled with a welcoming community of people. I encountered a couple who introduced me to their remarkable parrot. I treated myself to one-of-a-kind coffee mugs and a t-shirt. This store is truly unique, offering friendly service, excellent coffee, and delectable treats.

Despite the high ratings, my experience did not live up to expectations.
It was a letdown both in terms of service and food. The cashier was inattentive and unwelcoming, and the food was disappointing. My poached eggs, in particular, were severely overcooked—almost hard-boiled. Nitro coffee and biscuits were great.
The price they charge does not justify what’s being offered. Not coming back.

I ordered the “messy palette”. It is two biscuits with sausage crumbles covered in pepper gravy and a side of hash browns. The biscuits were so fluffy and buttery, really a great breakfast. The coffee (Carmel latte) was nothing to write home about but again the breakfast was great. The reason I am giving 4 stars is for (un)cleanliness. I understand they were busy but a lot of the tables were covered with dirty dishes and lots of flies hanging around. Overall I will eat here again, just during a less busy (hopefully cleaner) time.

Stopped in to have lunch. Staff was friendly and drinks came out quick! Super tasty and they have plenty of options. Loved the theme of an art gallery coffee shop. Had some local art and items there. (The candles smell AMAZING!)
Plenty of seating in and outdoors. Good took a little long than expected but there was a big order before us. The paninis came out amazing though! Tasty for sure.

Stopped in for lunch, coffee, and cookies to go on a three day bicycle tour of the Northern Neck of Virginia.
Tina and Mary a pure joy: friendly and efficient. The food (crab cake sandwich , chocolate cronut, chips) was delicious. We sampled a gluten free elderberry tart that was phenomenal. Their commitment to excellence was evident.
I highly recommend The Art of Coffee in Montross VA.

My wife and I stayed in the area for Valentine’s Day, and in the morning before we headed back to reality, we had breakfast here. I liked how it was set up with your order and pay, and they brought it out. The food was excellent and I’m glad we picked this place to eat. Great atmosphere, and the price was right for the portions. Will return and would recommend!

I ordered the breakfast “The American Artist #1”
Consisted of 2 eggs (Fried Hard-way I prefer), 3 pieces of bacon, fried potatoes, choice of toast or biscuit (Rye Toast-best). I did order an extra order of bacon. With a tip of $5, just shy of $20. I walked out satisfied. The atmosphere was pleasant and friendly, was greeted by the owner as soon as I walked in the door. I would recommend anyone passing through Montross, VA to stop and have a meal.

It’s a cute little place that serves breakfast and lunch. The ambience was very nice. First day we got some lunch that was ok. Best is the breakfast. We had veggie egg scramble, fried egg sandwich and veggie omelette that tasted yum!! Definitely would go here again if we get a chance.
