Today felt like stepping straight into a small Italian café where food still means something.
Around the Corner Cantina absolutely delivered and then some. From the moment we walked in, the place was spotless, warm, and welcoming, with a fresh, modern face that still holds onto that old-world Italian soul. No gimmicks. No shortcuts. Just honest food and real people behind it.
The Godfather sandwich was unreal stacked thick on house focaccia, loaded with fresh sliced cured meats, provolone cheese, roasted peppers, and herbs. Massive portions, perfectly balanced, and built like someone actually expects you to be hungry. This isn’t a “cute” sandwich it’s a commitment.
The arancini were exactly what they should be: golden, crisp outside, rich and creamy inside, served with a proper tomato sauce that tastes slow-cooked, not rushed. You can tell right away these aren’t frozen or phoned in. Molto Savoritto!
And then there’s the espresso pulled and served by the owners themselves. Deep, bold, and clean, the way espresso is supposed to be. No burnt bitterness. No watered-down nonsense. Just straight, confident coffee.
The Brio soda alongside it was the perfect throwback touch that unmistakable Italian citrus bitterness that cuts through rich food beautifully.
To finish it off, the tiramisu was homemade by the owner’s wife and it shows. Soft, balanced, not overly sweet, with real mascarpone and espresso flavor. This is the kind of dessert you remember after you leave.
What really sets this place apart, though, is the people. The owners were there, hands-on, proud of what they’re serving, taking the time to talk, to explain, to care. That matters. You feel it in the food and in the room.
This isn’t just another spot to eat it’s a piece of Italy planted right here in the Soo.

From the moment we walked in, the customer service was incredible. There were a few tables dining in and nonstop pickup orders coming through. They even had a large takeout order going and kept apologizing for the wait, but honestly we did not feel delayed at all. From walking in to pulling out of the parking lot was about an hour and the time flew by.
What really stood out was the staff. Everyone was so polite, welcoming, and genuinely comfortable carrying on conversation while they worked. They were happy to answer questions, explain items on the menu, and never made us feel rushed. You could tell they actually enjoy what they do.
While waiting, we watched one of the cooks putting together sandwiches for a pickup order and my jaw was on the floor. These sandwiches were HUGE and looked insanely good. You could see the care and attention going into every single one.
We ordered a panzorotti with cheese, pepperoni, mushroom, and sausage and HANDS DOWN this is the BEST PANZO IN TOWN. The crunch when you cut into it is unreal. Perfectly crispy, not greasy, and so light that I could cut it with a butter knife with ease. The cheese oozed out like something straight out of a commercial, and the crust to filling ratio was absolutely perfect.
The side marinara deserves its own shoutout. It was top tier. You could immediately tell it was homemade and not jarred. The sauce itself was packed with flavor and elevated the entire dish.
The portion size was massive. Two of us ate and still brought leftovers home. And the value is unbelievable. Our total for two people, with leftovers, was less than $30 including tip. You truly cannot enjoy a meal this good, in such a welcoming atmosphere, anywhere else in town for that price.
Food, service, atmosphere, and value were all a 10 out of 10. Around The Corner Cantina is a total gem. We will absolutely be back. If you have not tried this place yet, you are missing out. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Around the Corner Cantina is an absolute gem!
So proud of my good friends for chasing their dream and bringing this amazing new spot to Queen Street. You can truly taste the passion in every dish they cook with their hearts, and it shows. From the appetizers to the mains and desserts, everything is fresh, flavourful, and beautifully done.
Wishing them nothing but continued success. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out! ️
