We were told about a 45-60 minute wait, which we fully expected being New Year’s Eve. We gave our name and number and then we were asked to wait in the car. The entrance isn’t big enough to hold people waiting for a table.
She was spot on with time! We received a phone call when our table was ready.
Our server was fantastic! She was super friendly and ready to tell us all of the specials for the night. We both ordered steak. Let me tell you, the seasoning on the steak was perfect!! We are excited to plan another trip back!
I’m not a fancy guy – I’m certainly not a steak connoisseur – but I’ve been around & I know great food (and great service) when I experience it. Arnie’s West Branch Steak House consistently serves up both.
Located on Route 14 in Ravenna, this is one of those places you could easily cruise right on past without a second glance – except for the old-fashioned flashing neon sign out front – which actually buzzes. It’s classic!
But this ain’t no townie bar.
Walk in and you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back 50 years in time. The decor – while not fancy – is warm, comfortable and nostalgic. A board announcing the daily specials is prominently displayed.
The food, in a word, is excellent. Whether you choose fish, homemade Italian specialties or steak, you won’t be disappointed. Though they’re known for their delicious steak, if you get fish, you’ll think it’s a seafood restaurant. If you get Italian, you’ll think it’s an Italian restaurant.
It’s just that kind of place.
The service, too, is consistently superb. It’s as if somebody told the folks who work there: “if you see it, do it” because, although we had 1 main server (I took my 3 adult children and their significant others there for our Christmas dinner), there were several people who consistently – and inconspicuously supplied – & removed – items from our table.
I’ve shared this jewel of the Midwest with a number of my friends and nobody hasn’t loved it. It’s the kind of place you could go with a group of friends after a ball game or take your parents for their anniversary dinner. Either way, you’re gonna walk away anticipating the next time you visit.
And that, to me, is the sign of an excellent restaurant.
Service and timing was spot on and moved seamlessly smooth. Drinks and appetizers were a perfect beginning to the meals. Entrees were exceptional! Steaks perfect and the add on mushroom skillet- wonderful! Again, timing was smooth and we never felt rushed. Hats off to the kitchen, dish, front of the house and especially the manager as she was running the place like the fine dining experience that it is! Highly recommend Arnies and will be back.
Doesn’t look like much from the outside and the bar and dining area isn’t “wow worthy”, but it is comfortable and homey. Actually, a hidden gem in Portage County. All the residents know and love it!
Our first time here. We did enjoy our steaks, and they were cooked to our liking. The prices are a bit steep, so we were happy the food was good but not the greatest we have had. All the work went into the steak, and the sides were just your basic choices.
Place is definitely an oldie but goodie place. The atmosphere here is relaxed but almost a bit too dark, and that entrance door is a bit too creaky, especially when you are seated next to it. It felt like it would be good at Halloween!
There was a wait of a half hour on a Saturday night, as expected of many places. We were asked to wait outside, which is fine since it isn’t a large restaurant. Outside seating would have been nice. Some sat in their cars or on the small curbs of the parking lot.
