The menu offered a thoughtfully curated selection, and each dish was presented with care and creativity. The flavors were well-balanced, fresh, and clearly crafted with intention. Every bite reflected quality ingredients and expert preparation. The drinks were equally impressive—crafted to complement the meal and elevate the overall experience.
What truly stood out was the attention to detail, from the presentation of the food to the seamless service throughout the evening. This restaurant delivers not just a meal, but a full dining experience. I would highly recommend it for a special occasion, date night, or anyone looking to enjoy an elevated dining experience.
Price: $$$$ | Returning Customer: Unlikely
My wife and I visited Armour House for the first time over the weekend and sadly it did NOT live up to the hype…
There’s certain expectations we’ve grown accustomed too when visiting a high end / expensive restaurant, like Armour House, which were clearly not met (negatives / positives below).
ATMOSPHERE (NEGATIVES):
– Very Loud (due to restaurant size).
– Felt Crowded / Close seating (we could smell the cologne/perfume on the people sitting next to us).
– Special Occasion (Anniversary):
NO special accommodations besides a verbal acknowledgment from our waiter… (NO complimentary dessert, card, rose petals, candles, special seating, etc.), which is standard at other high end restaurants across Birmingham and even ATL…
– Restrooms (limited due to space)
FOOD (NEGATIVES):
– Undercooked Steak (Australian Wagyu beef tenderloin 8oz): My wife requested her steak to be cooked “medium” and even said to “error on the side of medium well”.
However, the steak came out “medium rare” and was even pre-sliced when it was brought to the table… so it was clearly visible… The waiter *did offer* to take it back to have it “cooked more”, but she declined (not the type of person to send food back), so she barely ate any of the $89 steak…
My steak (Denver Cut – 10oz) was boarder line “rare”, but I didn’t mind (ordered medium rare), but that definitely prevented her from trying any of mine as well…
– Braised mushrooms: requested a smaller portion (for 1), but never received any feedback on if that was possible or not…
– Whipped Potatoes: a little bland
– Manchego Mac & Cheese: not my favorite… a little bland as well and cheese was interesting… not for me.
Very disappointing…
**Note: when submitting our reservation, we DID state that it was our anniversary…

Atmosphere (Positives):
– Nice Bar Area / wine area
– Friendly Waiter
– Fairly attentive staff
(only ran out of water a few times)
FOOD (Positives):
– Bread Service – delicious
– Caesar Salad – delicious (large)
(only 4 pieces though for $8)
– Crispy Brussels – delicious
– Australian Wagyu Denver cut 10oz – Different but good (even though it was a little undercooked for a medium rare)
Overall I’m not sure if we’ll be back based what we paid for our experience.
Perry’s / Fleming’s / BrickTops / Little Betty / Helen (etc) are still on Top.
Please ensure you make reservations well in advance.
The food was incredible, with each dish showcasing perfectly balanced flavors that clearly showed the chef’s expertise and attention to detail. Every bite was exceptional, from appetizers to dessert. And our server, Paolo, was fantastic! He was attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure every aspect of our meal was flawless.
If you’re looking for a truly unforgettable dining experience, this place is a must-visit. Can’t wait to return!
